I like style lol its all about looking cool.

I'ma say.... Style. If you can get style AND power, all the better

I am basically power. I look to do as much damage as I can. I play casually, so if I have the right equipment I can do nice damage while chatting it up.

Mix of both. I love the gekitsnata design worlds more than the mugunruk design. I have a full palette mixed with both and use either depending on the level and situation. To be honest, most weapons, as long as they are close to similar ranks, do not give as much advantage over another. What is a few hundred damage off when monsters take 2 secs to kill anyway? ;P

There's a time and a place for both. Good things come to those who do the most runs in the shortest amout of time, and you won't get far by looking sexy but doing peanuts for damage. However, you can't be serious all the time. When it comes time to relax and help some lower level characters, time to bust out my best threads. Can't get the ladybots looking all shaggy.

Power. I never have cared about how a weapon looks if it performs like garbage. I also don't care about how a weapon looks it performs amazingly (I.e. males using Love Inferno).

Zorafim

Go for a balance of the two. If you go for looks over power all the time, there's no point in even developing combat stratagies. If you only go for power, then you won't have as much fun playing the game. When looks can be sacrificed for power, though, you should go for it.
For instance, using a grinded lower ranking weapon instead of a higher level weapon, simply because of how it looks. Say, you really like the look of a Dedda, then it'd be more worthwhile for you to simply get one as good as you can make it than to get a less visually appealing Zagza.
You can also change your stratagy to match your weapons of choice. If you like an Okanoh's PP, but hate flowers, you can buy a skill save unit to make a dedda work longer, or simply use the axe in more specialized locations. Or if you like flowers, you can spam the Okanoh in more situations and use your other weapons less.

Also, the differences in race isn't big enough to warrant a change in race, in most cases. The difference between a cast and beast hunter is so small, that you may as well pick the race you like. This isn't true for choosing between a newman and a cast, though, so there's a limit.

Definitively style. Looks and effects makes alot of difference in fun factor for me.

Seriously Needle Cannon has one lameass laser effect and kubara version just looks so ugly.
I prefer my Degahna Cannon which give more of a "force" feeling in it even though itīs weaker staticely.

Madam brella same story, got tiny amount of att more but sad PP and IMO it looks very uncool.
I would rather pull out a Shigga Baret if i had one. :S

And i am not much into grinding either..max i grind is probably 6 but in usual case i grind it 3-4..not that greedy to make it 10 really. >.>

Mix of both.. I prefer blackbull over rattlesnake for example, so i'd take a blackbull and grind it so it's as good as a 0/10 blackbull or 2/10 or whatever, power and style !

Personally I try to get the highest percentages I can get, that why I look stylish. I like to use lumiess blau and blumiers, I think they are the coolest daggers in the game. I also likethe way kubara weapons look. I love the way the prestoc, as well as my arb maganac's, look. Basically I like to go for style, but if you can mix in power and style more power to ya. Personally though I stay away from the crea weapons, sure they have style but they just plain suck.

I won't use stylish weapons with poor attributes... I won't use stupid-looking gear even if it's got good stats. I do like collecting old equipment to try and get it reasonably useful with high %'s and grinds.

for the most part, I choose power. however, on the few weapons that look super-sweet to me, I use those instead. Gekitsnata > Mugunruk. Kohibumiteri > Hirokteri/Ulteri.

also, price is a factor, because I dont wanna spend 10 mil today on somthing I can have for 1 mil in like a month. (rikauteri, tesbra)

Practicality. I get the best weapons I can get for what i can afford. I don't really care what they look like, or care if they're 10/10 50%'s, just good performance at a reasonable price. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

If I was forced to choose between one that I really liked the look of, and one that was really powerful, hmmm......... I "think" I would choose the one that was the most effective. So I guess power http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Weeaboolits
Apr 7, 2008, 05:18 PM
I favor a weapon that looks nice and has special properties (such as the frying pan), sometimes you can have both, like the Halp Serafi, which not only has good stats, but looks amazing.

However, I'll draw the line if it becomes a handicap, like the low pp on the harisen fans, they look fun, and I love the sound they make, but they run out way too fast.

STYLE - IF youre really really overpowered by at least a few dozen levels over the monsters and if you can kill in a few hits go use whatever you want flashy or not.

Functionality - IF its an S2 mission or if its a TIMED mission i want your strongest. High Grinded high percentage 9* weapons are more powerful than certain 10* and a few 11* or they have superior PP to last the whole mission.

If far as weapons go, I go for power. If not then maybe for the rarity or style.

The serdote is a butt ugly wand, but that doesn't stop me from using my 3 10/10's. Though I honestly like my 10/10 Magical wand better.

There are a few exceptions though. My Nova would much rather use her 10/10 Azul Fire than the 10/10 Gur Missal. The Tenora A rank launcher is an ugly chicken gun, who cares if it has better ATP.

F-Gattaca
Apr 7, 2008, 06:59 PM
I may be one of the only people in all of Gurhal to use Daggacs (and Al Dagacs, as Raul DiUragano).

I think my playstyle is dominated by "Style" rather than "Power." Let's look at it this way ...

As F Gattaca, I've continued the love for mechguns that I had in PSO. They are my primary weapon, paired up with a dagger that looks as close as you can get to a mechgun for the illusion of pistol whipping targets in between shots (hence, Daggacs). I like Maggacs for their looks, though I'm not above using other SMGs (and in fact do ... I've made it a point of collecting every single SMG in the game and their Kubara variants too).

Secondary weapons would be rifles, shotguns, and grenade launchers--all of which are used only when the situation calls for it. Primarily, though, I just jump right into the thick of battle, mixing up dagger PAs with shots from my SMGs.

Compare that playstyle to a fellow RAcast following his legacy (at least when he was playing)--Balthasar, the self-titled RAgod who went for pure power.

His arsenal--rifles. Just rifles. Phantom + Phantomline + Giga/Bullet PP Save.

Randomness
Apr 7, 2008, 07:19 PM
I'm willing to sacrifice power for style, but not to the point of being unable to kill stuff. Tenora mechs, for instance, are by far the coolest ones available, even if the pp is bad.

Anduril
Apr 7, 2008, 07:21 PM

im goin to have to go with style: [ major ] power: [ minor ]... a little about some crea weapons... while they are less powerful on straight, single target damage, its my belief, they statistically do more damage, only over a more widespread range... a very unappreciated class of weaponry...

[ HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION ] oh, lets factor in... BForteF [ hi atp, + low ata ] hits 3 for 5 average for what, lets say 1000 a hit, where maybe HForteF [ moderate atp + ata ] might hit 5 for 7 for maybe 850... lets do some math...

B ForteF: 3 x 1000 = 3000 / 5 = 600 average

H ForteF: 5 x 850 = 4250 / 7 = 605+ average

seems the game has gender normed (http://www.123helpme.com/preview.asp?id=66942) the races of the game... sometimes power isnt where its at...

But i also go with the price over the look. Grand Cross look really awesome but i have a pair of Heavy Twins that will do almost the same damage because you can get decent % and grinds for loads cheaper than a Grand Cross.

There are combinations that are superior to others, especially in a given situation. Of course, the point of this topic is, would you go for that combination if you don't like it?

zora, im neither right nor wrong... to be more specific: a cast will always be superior to humans, newmans, beasts when it comes to range... newmans will always have the greatest capacity for spell slingin in comparison to casts beasts, + humans... beasts will always have shear damage with numbers, far beyond casts, newmans, + humans... while humans are in the midst of it all... however, as i said before: no one race or type is better than any other in any way... lets see how far a beast fortefighter makes it soloing an s run on say, dulk falkis without a tecker... or how about a newman tecker in habirao s. d. without someone to tank damage... as for demons above or desert terror, i believe thats where gunners come in handy...

summation: no one is superior to anyone else...
