This is following the thread about PSO figures that were made from Pinky_st. toys.

Anyway, had one shipped here to see what it's all about. The material is a little rubbery, so I wouldn't put the dremel to it...

Here's the figure in pieces, and the reference on Karen Erra:

Modifications will be made with epoxy putty, and painted with acrylic artist grade paints (Royal Talens).

I was thinking if I want to keep the figure parts swappable, but seeing as the epoxy putty will be less flexible than the original and the paint might scratch off, it would be excessive. Some parts will have to be removable for painting, but will then be glued on permanently.

This looks like it will be a fun project!
Can't wait to see photos of the customizing. Good luck with it

Thanks both of you http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Smallish update, I spent saturday evening sanding the colour off the legs and top. After a little over an hour, my right hand was ready to fall off (considering the rotary tool again). Didn't finish the top, and slacked on sunday, with the excuse of having a cold (and looking for serafi feathers, hurr (no success so far)).

Anyway, being rubbery, the plastic stains easily, so more sanding/buffing will be required to get the skin tone to be perfect (the stain around the lower legs doesn't matter because Karen wears overknee socks).

Yeah, I thought the other leg was supposed to come off, turns out it wasn't http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Doing a little something in between, so to say *cough*. Making a bracelet with all the elements of PSU, so I made these protoypes out of polymer clay:

They are 1cm square. Quite small to work on XD

Those look pretty good. Are you going to colour them?

Ah, sort of. The plan is to take a mold of them and then make the "real" ones with coloured polymer clay.

Edit: Put the bracelet together, out of czech faceted glass beads, silver coated wire for the charm links and toggle link.

Can you tell the elements? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Progress, thanks 065 *rolls eyes*

Took out the old rotary tool, and sanded with a diamond bit. Might not be faster, but it sure is easy on the hands.

As you can see, I took the chance to reposition the leg, so she's not in that shy stance.

Hopefully it will look less broken once I putty her shoes on.

Out comes the epoxy putty! Forgot what a bastard the thing can be (too sticky)...

Did preliminary ears (no wire), a sleeve, puttied the left leg on, filled the heel of the right foot. The torso still comes off and I plan to keep it that way.

Next up, more detail of outfit and shoes.

Progress for today. Remembered to put a cup of water here, so it's much easier to smooth out the epoxy - use golves, use metal tools and water, kids. Don't keep the putty in your gloved hands for any amount of time, it'll stick...

Made shoulders more square, Karens jacket is actually a little boxy. I like how it makes it look more military, so a slight exaggeration was in order.

Added the ribbon on the left sleeve, the right sleeve, filled in the shoes some more, fleshed out the ears and sanded the leg joint at the hip (the rotary tool comes out tomorrow for sanding in general).
