that kata actually wasn't in my first style. So when I learned it, it combined some stuff from katas I already knew.

I learned the Jo(shorter staff) Bo, Sword, Nunchuk, Tonfa, and Sai

Obviously you've never zapped someone trying to attack you, and then had them wet themselves while twitching.

Neither have I, but a friend of a friend of mine...

And you've never been in a fight where people thought you'd get your ass kicked. Thrown one punch, and the guy was bent over trying to catch his breath. Never been in a fight since haha

I've never been in a fight that I was an active part of.
I'm a fairly nonviolent person.
Also a wuss.
And... kinda weak.
And lazy.

I won a Gold medal for that one, but more old style.

When presented with the medal, a judge/other sensei said I did it all wrong and should learn the new one. But I still won gold... baby.

National Tournament, international guys were around when I was just practicing. Big hulking doods. Broke my concentration when I saw they were watching me the whole time-staring intently, they did the same one in their turn up, made me feel better.

Must get back into martial arts.

I plan to get back into karate, if not, then Tai Kwondo(sp?).

make love not war.

i tried karate once. went up a few belts after a few years. not really my thing.

the smell of rotten gym socks in the locker room every time before lessons what was really got to me, not to mention all those bare feet that i detest seeing at the periphery of my vision. If there really was an intelligence behind corporeal humanoid design, my god, what poor taste when they engineered certain appendages and members.

i don't really do it for the self defense (although it is kind of nice knowing if you had to you could kick anyone's ass who threatens you), its just fun to learn (sparring >>>>>>>> boxing or wrestling)

oh man yeah... totally different ball game right there.

but a good wrassle was a fun way to get rid of that teenage angst. kinda miss doing it as it'd be good to rid myself of 20something angst.

see i was thinking of making a comment about that but i deferred.

i was going to say that it was a nice way of determining homosexual ambiguity or lack thereof.

Sparring's more fun; you're not constantly on the ground, trying to get 140+ pounds off of you. =/
