Petitions don't work on SEGA. If they did then the GC PSO servers would still be up. SEGA doesn't love PSO anymore. Let's just leave it at that.

It really won't do any good. There have been petitions made for every version of PSO before they have gone down, and the end result has been the same in each case: they don't bring the servers back up/ stop from shutting them down. Keeping the servers up is unprofitable for them, so in order to save the cost of keeping it up they are shutting them down.
It's just the sad truth: SEGA no longer sees any profit in keeping the NA/EU Servers of PSO up, so they are pulling the plug. Keep in mind it is a business they are running, if they make no money from something it is in the company's best interest to stop supporting it.

Why do people keep complaining about the servers being shutdown? Of course they aren´t going to bring them back, they will not make enough money to keep them running because there is not enough people playing PSO. In fact, many people who play games actually doesn´t even know that PSO exists. The only people that do know are us and our siblings. Some know but don´t like it. I feel like I´m the only one in my city that plays it.

Well that is a one-sided poll if ever there was one.

New guy, calm down. Dozens of threads like this have been made in the past. They all lead to the same thing: let down. Sonic Team and Sega are not going to be bringing back the servers. If they were, they wouldn't be shutting them down now, would they.

A petition? Not gonna work. Again, many have tried, all have failed. ST and Sega are more into creating more for PSU than PSO. That is just how it is. I know you might not like to hear it, but for the most part, PSO Online is gone and will not be coming back.

Now, for your bright side, I leave you with this note: You have several paths before you. Which one you choose is up to you. However, they are the only options you have left:

1.) Quit PSO (To either move on to PSU or for good).
2.) Play PSOX until its final hours, then quit PSO (Again, either for PSU or for good).
3.) Seek out private servers to continue playing PSO online.
4.) Continue to play PSO offline.

The choice is yours, and yours alone. But they are the only options.

They are shutting it down, which means it is never coming back. So few people would log on if they brought them back up that it is no reason to even support it anymore.


Will people stop making these topics? Read the previous ones to see the outcome. Its is NEVER fucking coming back, get off SEGA's nuts already. PSU is the new PSO, and there is nothing you can do about it except accept it or spam PSO Offline/ private servers for the rest of your life.

And Private Servers for PSO shouldn't be Taboo around here anymore, since PSO has been offically discontinued. They didn't care when the servers were up, and they sure as hell dont care now.

PSO XBOX Will be shut down on april 30/08 But the sad truth is that PSO XBOX truly died on JAN 04/05 when MS abandoned the servers and didn't bother to do anything to keep the servers current,sure they still worked but the updateds stoped and all it's paying players where left footing the bill for a game that never got updated form that point on,MS set this game on a death sprial knowing that it would die because very few people would want to keep playing and paying for a game that never got updated.It's sound like crap when they say they couldn't get replacement data to fix the server problem.

Negative. Microsoft had nothing to do with that. It was SEGA that discontinued their updates, not Microsoft. They didn't send the replacement server data because there was no point.

PSO is close to 8 years old. Sadly, it was time to move on. I hate the fact that there won't be a new PSO game, but then again, I can still Phantasy Star Offline (at least the Xbox version will have infinite offline multiplayer for as long as I own more than one controller).

But it's okay to revolt... They took something from you that you loved, and never told you why. But remember that there's also a time to stop grieving and move on to another game or to keep playing this one.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with playing it offline, right? It's better than not playing it or hating the gamemakers, the gaming community, the global games market or whatever...

Because that's exactly what I did back in 1993 when Sage announced that Phantasy Star 4 would be the final chapter to the series. But it was so cool! The sequel was sure to be even better, so why wouldn't they make it?

And for 6 long and torturing years, PS was left in the dust... Only to return as PSO, incredibly new, but still very faithful to the series. Well, as faithful as it gets considering a MORPG sequel to a traditional rpg series.

I will never forget the first time I went down that teleporter and saw that beautiful forest... Little Mag flying by shoulder... Lightsaber on my hand...
Good times.

PSO is gone in terms of "legal" server status. Get over it, and get PSU if you wanna play. Btw, the PSU demo is not a good indication of what the regular servers are.

And there are other servers for PSO. So it is not like it is completely dead.

Gabriel and Nomad hit it on the head. You can keep playing PSO offline. You can move on to PSU. You can play on the private servers. Your choice.

I'm in. The sad truth is PSO is now gone and we all have to accept the truth. Offline and private online is all we have and the official servers are gone. No amount of begging, crying, and petioning is going to get Sega to bring them back. Don't get me wrong, if there was a way I'd be on board but fact is fact and the servers are gone. I know the truth hurts but that is life. As its been said many times now, either play offline, move to a private server for one of the other verisons, or move on to PSU. I know many PSO fans don't like PSU but many of us do, can't hurt to try it and AOI has made it better.

In order to even remotely catch ST's interest with a petition, you need FAR more than a handful of people. You would need thousands of people to even have a distant chance at them even considering reviving the servers. And, as was stated before, why would people pay to play PSO on the official servers when they can play for free on the private ones?

You are really adamant in his mission, I praise you for that. The truth is, however, that there are nowhere enough people that play the game in order to get a petition large enough for them to keep the server up. I think most of the people here have given up hope of getting the official servers back up, and have moved on to "other" servers, offline, or other games. Officially PSO had a good run, and ST had decided that it has been up long enough. Eventually all good things have to come to an end.

We even tried to get updates for Xbox while it was still going. Christmas stayed then the anouncement came. Petions have been tried, emails and letters have been tried. If they didn't save the other versions they won't save this one. legal online PSO is over, accept it. Sega is not going to bring it back if they did they'd have to do it for the other verions too. Not gonna happen. Sorry.
