Ok so I lost my Comcast internet a while back cause I moved out of range. Well I'll be getting DSL (finally!) soon and am planning on purchasing a hunter's license for PSU. I was a huge fan of PSO Episodes 1&2 for the GC, played it alot! Just couldn't play itr online *is a sad panda*

But! I was wondering what all I should excpect from it when I do get my licsense, and if anyone has any tips as to how to start out my online adventures as I'll be, whaddya know, fresh meat! And can I use my chars from Extra mode in XBL??

You can't use your extra mode characters online. Which sucks.

My advice for new people: Get the expansion, go to Neudaiz, go to the building to the left of the space port (if you are looking at the port), scrounge a lift to white beast, do white beast untill you're bored of it. Should get you to lvl 20-30 easily enough depending on your boredom tolerance. It took me an evening to get to lvl 20 with my fortefighter (was a hunter then)

Definately get the expansion if you haven't already. You'll miss out on a lot, especially white beast which is the current hotspot. I think most future hotspots will be Ambition of the Illuminus exclusive.

Good time to join up - during event with XP multiplier. Low levels move up VERY fast. Best way to pick up online is to have experienced players help you run through missions - helps you get money faster and play tougher missions you wouldnt be able to do by yourself. Once you get on, feel free to drop me a line - here or online - always welcome cool people to party with.

Would also suggest looking through some of the guides and getting an idea of what kind of race/class you want to use that way you dont waste startup time planning what you want to do only to find out you dont like your choice or that you cant change it all (certain character appearance options).

A few tips:

~ Talk to your Partner machine and go through the tutorial. It goes through the basics, but also gives you a partner card from your instructor (varies by race) as well as your 1st PA (rising strike)

~If you're looking to get the feel of the game, weapons, PA's etc, run some Linear Line missions. Even on C rank, 200+ meseta drops commonly, and you'll quickly advance you're first few levels.

~If you're interested in getting to the casino, there's a transport NPC in the Moatoob main square. You won't be able to access it from the get go, as it only transfers you to lobbies you've been to before (for a small fee). A majority of people are running White Beast and Moatoob is less crowded, but you can hitch a ride with someone who has access to the casino lobby.

~If you're interested in mission points to level jobs, White Beast is good (and the most crowded atm), also Military Subway C missions give 120+ mission points per run (135 if I remember right).

~Do the Story Mission (Guardians colony 5th floor counter) to get the goggles (the goggles, they do nothing!). You'll receive the goggles early from the very 1st mission. You can spot hidden traps, switches, breakable items, etc. in certain missions by using the goggles.

That's all I can think of off hand. Anyways, good luck http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Since you should be joining soon (and by soon I mean within the next month) I would suggest playing through the MAG (Maximum Attack G) levels that will be available on the 25th. They give good exp and you should be able to advance pretty far pretty fast. Since it lasts a month, depending on how you play, you should be able to get to a decent level by the end or even during the middle so that you can hunt for money easier.

I suggest the first day you start playing to get the Casino port somehow (assuming you have AotI) and start collecting your silver coins since you can only get one per day. By the time you get that you should have a few levels if you fought you way through and who knows maybe a good item (Freeze / Resist) and some Di-photons you can sell later on.

After you get to the casino I would suggest saving up 15,000 meseta and heading to the 2nd floor of the Guardians Colony to the Room Shop (Yellow shop) and getting a Open Shop room decoration ticket to start selling items. Give it to your PM and you should be booted to the first floor of the Guardians Colony and your room should be changed slightly (added room).

After opening shop, you can start making some money. Sell all your elemental photons (don't worry about synthing items until you are higher up and have more money, you'll grow out of them too fast) for the market price (search by condition and make sure you are either the cheapest or around what everyone else is charging.)

For example: [Consider P to equal a Player and the number after to be the price they are selling a particular item for] P1 - 200, P2 - 800, P3 - 810, you should price your item for 750 or 800.

in the case of a pricing conflict (equal prices) whoever updates (reprices) their shop appears first.

Now that you have the basics of a shop up and running you should go focus on running missions / leveling up class and regular levels. Save all the elemental photons you get, as well as anything that may be of value (check the prices of items on the market if they aren't worth much then NPC it). Level up your PAs as you go along through missions and keep in mind what class you are aiming for, if you plan on being a Fighgunner for example, you need to get both Hunter and Ranger up a few levels...while you are a ranger you could level up Rifles, Shotguns, and other weapons that Fighgunner cannot use. In such a case it may be benefitial to use something that a Fighgunner can use like Dual Hanguns or Mechguns so you can carry the bullet levels over when you switch, but that's a choice you will have to make yourself.

And can I use my chars from Extra mode in XBL??

No they did this so that people couldn't hack offline characters (and bypass online security) and play them online, since it's easier to modify offline data (saved on the HD rather than on a server).

If you are interested in more information feel free to ask me specific questions or tips for certain things. Also feel free to check PSUpedia.info for information regarding missions (mission link on the left side) and what sequence of missions you should take to get to the casino.

Last note: If you have a shop up and have time I would suggest hunting in Sleeping Warriors C when you are about lv 10-20+ for a few levels (until you get tired of it or you find a relic edge or 10.) Currently they are going for about 1 million - 1.2 million and they do drop in C-rank, it'll be an easy road for you to make some money. Do the story modes to get NPC cards so they can help you out and raise your PM when you have the time.

Fixed imo (except maybe a few missions on GBRs). This event (MAG) that people keep mentioning is also AOI exclusive, so you'll need the expansion to play those missions.

For 360, the only place to get the expansion is on the marketplace. Just go to the marketplace, find PSU and prepare for a ~1.5gig download. It's 1600 MS points I think, which is basically the equivalent of $20.
