So what are the cake sisters? Are they they like an exchange mission? If so, what do you need to trade for to get their items? I looked on PSU Pedia, but I couldn't find anything.

I think its just a shop in the Ruins area...

Ryna

It is a small shop you can visit while playing through Ruins.

Kylie

Oh, so you just buy the *said* items?

RedMussel

Like everywhere else you buy Trimates and such, but they also have some 3 different thing you can buy for your room.

Here is a picture of the cake shop:

Yeah.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, this is sort of a franchise-wide Phantasy Star motif. PSO had the Cake shop tucked away in a single player mission (in Caves I think), and older PS games have also featured cake shops in seemingly impractical locales.

Does the Naura Cake Shop still appear in the non-event version of the ruins or is it exclusive to MAG? I'd like to create a little page on the shop at PSUP and want to make sure I have all of the details correct.

PSI had a cake sister shop in the middle of a dungeon, PSIV had a cake sister shop outside the town walls. I think the first was needed as a key item to continue the game, the second sold various items you'd want for sidequests.

I love seeing throwbacks like this, but I know the only reason it's even in here was because it was a PSO quest.

Oh snaps, I didn't know the cake sisters were in MAG until now! Awesome throwback indeed. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Please tell me I won't have to go down into the Caves to find those sisters again.

You will have to pass through a Caves section to get to them.

Glad I wasn't the only one that needed a topic like this. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif I wanted to make sure I didn't have to spend my badges on this or some kind of item. And I agree with the lot of you; it's nice to see them using old elements (even though PSU is the first PS I've owned http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif). Oh, and... Hiya Memphis! :3

Oh, well. MAG's still gonna be fun.

And I do agree that it's nice to see past Phantasy Star references making a comeback.

Ahh caves. Everyone hates caves. Which is why they put the cake shop in a direct path thru them ><

Exactly. It goes against normal logic.

Oh no, it's perfectly logical. Game devs will purposely put new or unique stuff in pain in the ass areas no one likes in order to force you to do them.

An incentive to go there if you will. Doesn't mean it's not stupid. But there is normal logic behind it.

I didn't mean inventing the mission was illogical. I meant the idea the sisters had about baking cakes in a monster-infested cave was illogical. No, I really did enjoy doing the mission.

Its nice they brought back the Cake sisters, definitely homage to old PSO hunters guild mission.

At least now the Cake sisters are much more attractive now than they were in PSO [seriously, the cake sisters in PSO who resemble the bank girl were butt ugly].

do u hate caves cuz its like a huge long maze?

well lucky for u its nothing like the PSO caves! its super straight forwards! theres only 1 split turn in the whole caves during MAG!

dam with mines! except mines has NO TURNS!

i love how the PSO levels in this game are mapped out like PSU levels and not PSO levels http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

*laughs* That mission was weird. Of all the foods you could use to get a dog to come with you, the game designers picked shortcake. XD

PSIV`s guild missions all seemed to be pretty easy... Except the worm mission... *shivers*
Well, since I played PSIV after PSO, I got a lil smile when doing the dog mission. And only to let you know, if I remember correctly, the dog was the dog of family Tinkerbell. Hu? PSO veterans maybe might remember this name. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I think the girl who owned the dog was named Tinkerbell.

And yeah, the sandworm was a pain in the butt.

And some, like the aforementioned Tinkerbell's dog, were just amusing.

Crazy Cake Lady #1: "But the heat... the humidity of these caves! It's perfect for baking!"

Crazy Cake Lady #2: "Monsters? Our enthusiasm for baking is stronger than any fear of monsters!"

It's been a long time since I played that quest, so I don't remember what the Cake Sisters said exactly, but it was something to that effect. But you're right; they were just nuts. Though... picturing the sisters feeding cake to any Melqueeks and Guil Sharks that might stop by makes me chuckle. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Oh, I just noticed from one of the pictures Zora posted that they kept the price the same between cake dude's shortcake and the new Naura Cake Shop's Berry Berry Pie (280 Meseta). Nice touch.

Kinako78
Apr 19, 2008, 02:08 PM
I think that is about what they said, Espio. And yeah, it would be funny to see them handing the cakes out to the monsters. They might never be able to get them to go away if they keep feeding them, though. XD

I didn't mind the maze. It actually made you explore a bit but seeing as 1 block in pso was about 3 blocks in a psu mission.

But yeah caves. I think is was just a combo of stuff. Annoying monsters: poison and megid spit sucked. Espically in v1/2 where you dropped weapons. Slimes also. Nothing like taking 5 minutes to kill a mob that splits on hit and can only be hit 10% of the time assuming you don't wiff on that 60%+ miss rate.

Swtiches was another thing. You could solo forest just fine but you always hit a brickwall online in caves with those switches. Ruins actually had a couple maps you didn't need to switch to go all the way thru. Caves.... didn't happen. Well untill somsone figured out the barehand door bypass glitch.

And also, I that Mome.

Straight foward caves soudns fun, no maze mines/ruins will be disapointing but I'll live.
