Question: How long did you go without sleep while playing PSO/PSU?


As for me, my highest record record of not sleeping was due to Phantasy Star, and it was 2 and a half days straight playing PSO challenge missions with those crazy Japanese players...non stop, two meals a day. (I was eating bags of uncooked instant noodles.) After obtaining the highest ranking for 2 of my characters, my friends called me up to go watch movies. When I got back home the last thing I saw was my coach, and I woke up a day a half later. This was when I was super addicted to PSO a couple of years ago. Now I can't even stay past 2am without collapsing in front of my computer/TV.

With the upcoming MaG event, I wonder how much beating my body can take before giving in to the Sand Man.

I've pulled a 12-hour session on PSU. Of course this was during Winter Break and I happened to have the day off from work.

I probably won't do that again, considering how it messed up my ability to walk for the next few days.

I've played with a person name Mark back in the PSOBB days. He told me that he played for straight 7 days without sleep. I don't know if he was lying or telling the truth. Can a human stay up that long without sleep? What a zombie he was.

I don't how some of you ladies and gentlemen can play straight 24 hr. I'm dead tire just staying up 24 hr. when i was still in the Army pulling CQ or HQ duties.

yea, i was gonna lvl up all 4 of my characters to 130 during MAG, but i remmebered that i wouldnt play as much as i wanted to, so now im stuck in between the decision of what one of my 2 mains to use to get the spread needle, after my 2 alts get to lvl 100 :/ lol

Thank your parents cos I live alone on my campus and nobody tells me what i should do so i end up playing for 6-7 hours at a time, whether it be thru the night or day. On some occasions ive played 12-18 hours straight.

If you tend to play at night until you pass out from tiredeness that is the worst because I think it is important to go to sleep with a functioning mind so you can think about your life and things and let your mind have some time for itself for at least 10 or 15 minutes or however long it takes you to fall asleep from the time you lay down in your bed. I find that my most interesting thoughts occur during this time and also is when my imagination really just leaps around and has the best opportunity to do whatever it wants, and all too often i unfortunately fall asleep from exhaustion while playing games and never have this time for my mind to experience this.

he kept telling me how he isnt getting any sleep and how he always feels sore, i told him o take a 15-30 min break after playing PSU before going to bed to give his brain a rest before going to bed so it isnt still working while hes laying there trying to sleep lol

I usually play like ~4 hours a day if I'm in the mood for it (but I usually tend to burn out and go do other stuff).

Well, I really am not addicted to PSU. Most I did was probably about 8 hours a day in some weekends in the first few months I started playing.

Now I mostly only play when I have friends online to play with, or I play for one or two hours.

And although to the core they truly are, some people, including me, have them as a form of entertainment or relaxation instead of other things. For example, watching TV is no better than playing a video game when you put it to thought. Or is going to the theater to watch a movie.

I played game 4 hr. a day sometime. I work from 8am to 4:30pm, I played Basketball while waiting to pick my little brother up, I picked up my little brother from tutoring school at 6:30pm and arrived home at 7pm, and play some games with whatever time i have left. Oh wait, that is not even 4 hr. a day because I sometime sleep early at 10pm...Nevermind and excuss me sir.

Over last summer I took a job at target, well needless to say I stayed up all night playing PSU, a whole 16 hours, went to work half dead, came home for lunch, 30min, check if anything sold, then went back to work for the last four hours of the 8 hour work day, of lifting boxes working in the back room. I started at 8 in the morning that day got done at 430 came home to see if anything sold and then since I did not have work played another 10 hours of PSU until I collapsed on the couch still with the mic chord wrapped around my kneck and the the controller in my hand, I was still in a run mind you, I dont even remember finishing or if I was playing with people, I just saw the mission was over I was in the lobby. Goodness all I can say is I feel it was worth it even if it may me a little sleepy. Now I play about about 2-6 hours everyday and on the weekends I usually play about 10 or so hours a day.

probably way back when i first got pso ver 1 for the dreamcast. it was my first online game and i was blown away at how fun it was. i ended up skipping the night's sleep completely, so it mite have been around 20 hours in a row. i dropped out of college shortly after. yes, it was related 0_0

When I first got PSO DC, I had a 40 hr job, went to lots of parties, and met a girl. I only sopped playing it because of the cheaters.

Now when I heard PSU 360, I was shocked. I bought it on a Thursday and didn't stop playing it till the next Monday. I wanted to get the Single Player done before going online. The girlfriend became my wife, I have a better 40 hr job, and 2 kids.

Highest I ever went was 48 hours in one sitting on PSO on GC and same amount for PSU. These were both done during times that I was either snowed in for a few days, or on vacation from both work and school.

I think one time, i played for maybe 8 hours straight back when i was on the pc/ps2 servers.

As for the whole "playing video games too much=no life" argument...

I play so much BECAUSE OF my social life. I most likely wouldnt play at all some of my best freinds IRL didnt play as well. And as for finding a girlfreind, I really dont care as im probably (ok DEFINITELY) not worth any female's time. Hmmm im going to b honest. Only time i play PSU is when im at home on the weekend (Friday-sunday) If i literally have nothing to do. (as in goin out somewhere) about 70% of the time im playing PSU or Halo 3 (mostyl psu). i might play from 3PM-12AM...Not straight the whole time.....just within that time range. There are those weekends where i play a few hours... So im not bad compared to those ive seen.....

I've met about 4 people on PSU that play from the time they wake up to the time they go 2 sleep. I'm not judgin them for wat they do but put the controller down.... The game will still be here when you return http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif. Just messin tho.... but seriouslly i have met people like that.

I guess this could kinda be there saying.

I never really pulled any all-nighters. But at the peak of my addiction, I could be found playing from 3-5AM a fair amount.

I did pull some all day sessions occasionally though. Man, PSO was so awesome back in the day.

During the summer in 2004 I did non stop Phantasmal World 4 runs trying to hunt for SJS. Me and my buddies did that for 3 days straight, some of us took turns sleeping in the mission while others kept fighting. We got 2 Sealed J-Swords and I unsealed one of them. It was sadly lost in an unequipped FSOD.

I remember playing from 10am- 2am one day over winterbreak, after comming back from mexico on a trip with my buds. My eye hurt so bad the next day. The only time I stopped playing was lunch and dinner.

I think I managed 24 hours in PSO once. That was the only game I was ever addicted to, I skipped so many days at work because of that game. I hated my job at the time, so that probably was a contributing factor as well, heh.

By the time PSU came out my marathon gaming days were already behind me.

Sometimes I wish I had no life again, heh. Crazy kids don't know how good they have it.
