View Full Version : Kill Math - Need to Get Pace Up If We Want 200 Mil...

AlMcFly
Apr 25, 2008, 10:46 AM
We are going to hit 1 million in about 4 hours after MAG start-up. 24 divided by 4 is 6. That is an average 6 million kills a day. This event goes until May 23rd. That's 28 days. 6 million x 28 = 168 million kills.

We must put into consideration an estimated 1/4th of the population isn't even playing until the weekend though we are to assume the huge influx of people spamming right after event start will die down.

Basically we may have to increase the pace.

Edit #1: Adding a direct link to the MAG Event Site so you can monitor this yourself:

http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/event/mag2008/en/

Edit #2: My math was wrong. That's what I get for doing it all in my head...

This is also not taking into account that the event just started and people are playing the crap out of it to be the "First" to do this or that....and a lot of people forgo school/work on the first day of the event.

You will need at least a week of data to make an accurate prediction.

So if we're supposed to "Go for it! Defeat 100 million creatures!", why is the highest 200 mil?

In Japan there were a few more prizes because they got past the original mark I guess rather then update the site later they decided to post all possible prizes all at once.

You're right of course, that's why I wrote we "should" be able to hit it.

As you can see by the math that by keeping this pace knowing that a good majority of the population isn't playing yet (including myself *work* http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif), we will overshoot the goal by 24 million.

So basically we can afford a good drop in pace and still make the goal.

As unrelated as it might be, seeing as how we're playing on a non-Sega system...but it *is* a Sega game...

I believe that the spirit of Segata Sanshiro will push us to shatter the 100 million kill count, just in the same way that the legend kicked a baseball into a home run, and judo tossed a man, causing him to explode on impact.

*places heart over chest* You will live on in my heart as I slaughter the masses, oh great one.

I predict that the 1000 or so people all spamming for a position on the leaderboards will get 175 million kills on their own.

The world may never know. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

But which award rewards the whole PSU community with the sange? You know the one handed A ranked saber that looks like a katana. I put spoiler tags for those who don't know and don't want to know.

AlMcFly

That would be the very top mark, namely 200 million, IF IF IF it follows the JP leaderboard. We won't know for sure until they reveal it on the site.

I hate to point it out but your math is off, 24 divided by 4 is not 8 buddy, it's 6.

So based on your math, 6 million x 28 = 168 million, which means we would fall short.

Can't believe no one noticed the error in math yet.

Attention to detail like that is the essence of "class". It used to be expensive watches and cufflinks to go with a nice suit, now it's letting people pick their expression and camera angle in leaderboard mugshots.

Are you smarter than a 5th grader??? haha j/k, it happens when you're sleepy and psyched about something.

Hope it's possible - X360 had almost 3 full unis this AM, and that's with a lot of people stuck in work/class. We'll probably get a better idea this evening or on weekends when people have fewer conflicts. But at this rate, there's bound to be burn out...

No big deal really - as stated before, they're helping us get the MAG rewards. Also, we knew this before but:

The "Spread Needle/G" is an event-only item. In the future, there are plans to offer a new "Spread Needle."

It's only 1 real reward and that's the Spread Needle. The ones in the future will probably be nerf'd. I don't need the synth bonus or the luck unless it last for a month.

AlMcFly

It would be nice if the synth bonuses were a permanent feature.

Anyway, I've already accepted my Spread Needle/G-less future. My main goal is to get as high as possible on the Time Attack Rankings. Those gold medal decos are getting my blood rushing counting the hours I have left until I get to go home. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I guess there aren't separate rankings for each difficulty - so best times will be on C-rank?

Taken from the website: "Try for the best clear time on the S-rank Maximum Attack G event mission!" Time attacking on C-rank won't get you on the list.

Don't forget that these next couple of weeks involve finals for many, and people are starting summer class/jobs here soon. I plan on playing a lot this weekend but then I need to focus on real-life matters, as I'm sure others are too. We can count for the people trying to hold their leaderboard status, but other than that, I don't think it's going to be crazy all the way through this event.

Least it's fun, should keep people interested for a while.

But do you have to get an "S" on the S-mission, or can you just kill the minimum amount of creatures, get a "C" and still appear on the board?

All of your questions can be answered here:

1. Only 500 players on the kill leaderboard.
2. May 28th is the end of MAG.
