View Full Version : What the hell was ST's motivation behind the 150 mat limit?

It has to be the most retarded concept ever added to this game.

I knew there was a limit to the amount of materials you can use, but it appears that my lvl 117 HUcaseal is spent, and there's no way I used that amount already.
Nuts.

If there was no limit to the amount of mats that could be used, dupers would have new items to dupe, creating a chain of characters with huge stats really fast. This would suck. Like the previous post said, it's for game balance.

Plus, it's only fair that humans get more mats since newmans and androids have tp/ho regen.

Imagin a maxed out lvl 1. Where's the fun in that? Why would you even bother to lvl?

In version 2, I had max stats at level 150 from materials, so I didn't need to level except for HP. Yes, material limits retard our stat growth, very good :3

I like the Mat limit...
I just wish I had a Human to use the 250 one... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Androids/Newmen get their HP/TP regen, which really isn't that good truthfully... more mats is definately more advantagous. But then again, bots and newmen have higher overall stats for their 'class' stat (i.e. MST, ATA/POW), and have more HP... so in the end, they will have higher stats (in these areas) no matter how many mats a human uses. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
So I think it is a good balance.

Hi Acid Rain, not sure if you remember me.
Anyway I like the limit. It makes your character pretty unique from others of the same class since you build yours differently. I just don't like how Humans get 250 and Newman/Android get 150, as if HP/TP regen are worth the loss of 100 materials. And to add to that, Newman TP regen isn't even as fast as an Android's HP regen at the same level. It's only really useful in battle mode, imo.

I like the idea, but Luck should be a seperate mat spentage. After all, it's the rarest of the materials to find, and the max is 100. Big whoop. Also, wtf is up with TP materials not existing in the real game other than the challenges?... freaking stupid. But oh well.

It makes Mag raising that much more important in regards to the stat boosts. Also, you can compensate for a lack of stats in one particular area with armor units. This would make something like God/Luck actually useful as a unit if you don't want to waste some of your mat limits on luck material.
Makes me wish I had kept track of how many materials I've used.

What bothers me abotu the mat limit is not knowing how many I've used... It'd be pretty covenient if thee was a counter somewhere =/. Oh well...Power power power...

Luck mats should be separate like HP/TP mats, because your luck doesn't raise by leveling or by anything BUT materials (permanently).

Oh, f*** me. Yesterday my HUnewearl consumed her last material: she reached the cap. Needless to say her stats suck and I'm going to make a new HUnewearl. This time with a different ID and, obviously, keeping track of mats usage. >_<;;;

This is where it's a good idea to plan out how many mats you will use on your character beforehand. Takes some calculating too, and MAG planning. I know VulpesMundi has made some calculations as to how many mats to use on HUmars, at least. I'm just keeping track of how many mats what character has used so far. But it sure is annoying having all of that stuff clog up your bank. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Yep, like many have said - it's so that humans have the upperhand when it comes to changing stats around, to make up for the lack of HP/TP regeneration. If it wasn't for the fact that humans get more materials... think about it, what is the use of them? ... all of them.. the rangers, hunters and maybe not the force.. but the rest. They'd be useless, weak, and pathetic.

snappuru (i guess, but i'm not 100% sure...) once had mentioned a good way to get rid of all materials used...
it happened to one of my friends on v2 accidently - level stayed the same, i dont know about item-loss, but i think challenge-stats and every other data (battle) will get deleted.
hm... i'll see if i find it...
edit: no, sorry, cant find it...

When I first started playing GC PSO, I fed my Hunny whatever material I found, thinking there was no limit. This goes to show that important tidbits of info like this are NOT in the damned manual. I don't know how many mats she has left to use, but I'm concentrating on getting her luck to 100 (with her god/luck attached), then I'll dump all power mats on her. So what if she's not optimized? I don't have the time, patience or heart to work up another level 130+ character with level 20 techs in everything except a few attack techs and Zalure.

I use all MATS except for Evade I gladly leave those beind or drop my Evade Mat findings in town, am I the only one that does this.....and yes guys, it is most tard that 150 mat limit is in effect but BALANCE is the key word, my 117 FOnewearl is maxed out in everything except HP.
I know many of you aspire for the perfect character and, thus, want to feed them exact. Just in case you accidentally swallow that Evade Mat http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/burger.gif, don't fret! From my experience, everything will turn out ok. I fed my first character, a HUcaseal, with materials as I found them. Sure, I probably had quite a few Defense Mats and Evade Mats. At lvl 131, it has paid off. I can block decently and have pretty good defense. Overall, I have a more balanced character rather than a Power Mat addict. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif Sure, you can blow through most enemies, but you become Deband dependent as well. Anyhow, my main point is, don't give up on a character just because you felt the Materials you ate weren't perfect. A word of suggestion, however, throw in some Luck Material here and there (Pretty much anytime you can find it). I failed to do so, thinking that Luck was seperate from the others. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_redface.gif In any case, if you REALLY want that perfect character, I suppose this guide could help out alot:
http://wibble.topcities.com/pso/
It's a nice Excel Spreadsheet with built in calculations.

Grr.
I bumbed into my material max last night too. Woo, I think I used way to many evade materials.
Dang dang dang dang dang dang dang.

Luck is very, very useful. My Hunny has 90 luck with her god/arm attached. Criticals are plentiful now http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Really? In fact I was wondering if LUCK was really necessary. I was thinking to leave LUCK behind and try to maximize my HUnewearl's MIND instead. But if you say so, maybe 45 LUCK mats become really necessary. Any other suggestion?

I plan to leave my Hunny's mind stat to go wherever it wants to go. As long as I can resta to full in one or two casts, I really don't care about it seeing as it doesn't affect S/D/J/Z and I only cast attack techs to open boxes or to guarantee exp.
The only two stats that matter to me are POW and LUCK. With 90 LUCK and using a doublesaber weapon, it is a rare combo which doesn't give me a critical. Heck, I use my Holy Ray and I'm getting criticals every other combo or so. And it is kind of nice to get two criticals in one combo. So yeah, I plan to make that god/luck one of those must-use units on my armor, along with my god/battle, so my LUCK will be maxed with 5 more materials.

I am glad that I learned of the material maximum before I bought the game. Because of this I planned out how many materials I was going to use on each of the stats. I have a little notebook that I use to keep track of what materials I've used and how many. This way I won't make any mistakes down the line.
Going for high luck is essential if you're a hunter or ranger. The crits more than make up for the lack of power or the misses. My RAcaseal is just about at 100 and she crits at least once with every combo.

MIND mats are not all that important to a HUnewearl. What they DO need are DEF/POW/HIT and LUCK mats. Power most, def second, Luck third, and ATA last, since you can crank the hell outta this with a MAG. My level 122 HUne can hit everything frequently in Ult thanks to her 85 ATA Nidra mag...

Of course I remember you. We used to play together back on version 1 in the DC days.
I've been saving up some spare change to get a BBA and hunters liscense so I can get online.
Thank god for the multi offline option so I can transfer items between my guys.
