Been absent from PSU since February and now I wonder if they've added, uh... what should I say, the "ability" for NPCs to actually level up.
Or well...

I was playing with Hyuga-boy earlier when he suddenly leveled up, with the "level up"-sound, after killing an enemy.
They usually just level up, discreetly, when you move to the next area or return to the outside-mission area, right?

So am I to be called a n00b for missing something, or..?

They're two levels higher than the party leader. Partner Machines are 10 levels higher than the leader.

I don't know about them leveling up mid-mission..

NPCs can lv up mid mission...though I've never seen a PM do that. They get the benifits of that extra lv for the duration of the mission...however the next time you go to as mission counter their lv will be reset to however much higher they are supposed to be then you.

Most NPC that you can play with are three levels higher than you. Tylor is five levels higher. Lumia is five levels lower. Partner Machines are 10 levels. Sue is 40 levels. Rupica is 30. Ash is 20.

Well as far as I know since PSU first came out, I had a few fun times with Maya lving up mid mission only to have her lv reset when I went to the next one...its most noticable when you start a lv 1 character.
