oh some tips about being a fortetecher after having one and being oh so thoroughly dismayed by it.

a) its not about the numbarz/dps. i dont care what you think or how cool and flashy those techs look. Melee will always outdps you so long as they have half a point of IQ

b) don't be an attention whore while asking ppl to drop everything they are doing just to cluster around you for buffs. be kind, buff them midfight, or before or after a block... or at a cube. Wherever ppl are already clusterfucking a clusterfuck is best and generally easier for you as well

c) pls god don't be a newman chibi...it's not original. it's not funny. it's... well it's ultimately up to you. But it is way overdone.

d) you're there for support. Resta or GiResta and Reverser really should be on your pallette for the sake of yourself and your group. Ideally, they should be on all your wands, rods, and mags. I don't care if your psychowand is 10/10. Your dps will still suck harder than what it should (hey I honeslty wish it wouldnt because casters are always my favorite class to play in mmo's). If you want to dps, you really picked the wrong class. Ultimately, if you don't support, you're wasting a slot which could be used by a much more viable dps'er.

e) choose your groups wisely. You'll want at least one fortefighter in your crew otherwise your work will be that much harder and you guys wll spend more time bashing on things than you really should. any pure melee dps should do, the more the merrier really if you want to be in and out as quickly and painlessly as possible.

f) more of an elaboration of e) really. Since techers have such piss poor dps innately, choosing your group wisely means you want to have peeps who dee pee ess. For example if there is already a techer or two there, then go find another group. If there are like three fortegunners... go find another group. As Alestair Crowley said, "Do as thou wilt", but trust me, if you follow at least e and f, you'll make your encounters much easier. It's not my fault the designers favored melee dps so heavily over techers and rangers.

yeah i was going to suggest acrotecher for its sheer versatility but dude said fortetecher so i went along with the dude. that post was more of a 'standing on a soap opera box lecture' anyway because im pissed by seeing so many incompetent techers.

being a techer really isn't all that different from being a ranger using a rifle, shoot, sidestep, dodge, shoot, run, turn, shoot, the way i see it while it is nice to have moves like buffs and resta, the other members of your party should come just as if you weren't there on the flip side i also always prepare my characters before a mission as if i was soloing (then again i solo around 85% of the time)

Well actually there once was a time that techers were the strongest class, melee in second, and rangers in last. Then some rebalance came making it rangers, techers, and then melee people. yeah i heard about that. Something about a nerf to elemental damage nerfed techer dps and nerfed it ultra hard? seems i was late to the party when I first rolled my main which was a newman techer. =/

imho techers really should be at the top of the dps form due to their paltry stats, but hey, that's sega logic for ya.
