I just downloaded a freeware shooter game that lets you create your own enemies. I just had to create a wacko upon learning that.

So, here it is! It doesn't look like it has 50 parts, but I packed it with weapons to make it a challenging fight.

Anyway, here's some info about the wacko enemy:

The entire outer ring has tiny vulcan cannons in it, as well as the eyes. The eyes fire in all directions and the ring turrets just fire outwards.

You might have noticed some tiny blue dots near the mouth of the wacko, too. This is because the mouth fires lasers.

Now for some action shots. Do you see that tiny thing near the minimap firing at the wacko? Yeah, that's your ship.

Because of the way I set the parts up, the ring has a distinct head and tail end. When you blow up a section of the ring, everything behind it (going towards the tail end) blows up as well.

Every enemy has to have at least one core part. In the wacko, the two eyes are the cores. Normally, cores don't have weapons but I've hidden multiple cross-vulcan cannons behind each one. (Cross-vulcans fire vulcan bullets in a cross pattern.) When you blow up the core or cores of an enemy, the whole thing explodes. Beware, though! Some parts or cores on each enemy are designed to launch counterattacks upon destruction.

Awesome work, Tact.
To be honest, I'm surprised you beat it. It looked like something that could take out a fleet of Star Wars ships pretty damn quickly.

I do seem to be having trouble with the disapprove enemy, though. I can't get it to look right. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif I think the wacko is more photogenic.

I will not fail you, though. I'll maybe make an enemy shaped like the letters "FKL."

Edit: OutKast, this isn't a game where one shot kills you. The green bar on the left side is your health/energy and it does regenerate. Firing shots also uses up some energy, but with the weapon I was using it's only enough to stop energy regeneration. The only time you'll die is if you take a ton of hits while firing or if you run into an enemy.

Each letter of FKL has a different method of trying to kill you. The F has four large laser cannons that do more damage than the wacko's lasers.

I'm sorry it's a bit hard to see here, but those blue reticles on the K are the targeting system for remote explosions. The reticles will home in on the player.

The K also carries a payload of two missiles. These missiles are loaded with highly explosive tanks, seen on the backs of them.

The blue aura seen here around the L is a gravitational field. The purpose of this is to help the L ram the player's ship by pulling it closer.

Actually, Nitro, I was just looking for a weapon small enough to hide behind the mouth panels. I had already used a truckload of vulcan guns and I wanted to use something different. The small laser guns were the only things I could find that worked.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I could make a pretty damn good Shoop Da Whoop enemy if I wanted to...

I'm surprised people besides Nitro liked it, too. I thought everyone else would be facepalming.

The charging worked because the laser cannons actually have to charge before firing in the game.

Hmm, I rather like the dials. But there are also those text boxes underneath them that let you input values. Perhaps you could make use of them.

i actually started to use the boxes, once I realized the scale of numbers, better for placing things in more precise manner, such as having two parts exactly symmetrical of one another.

that's still kind of unimpressive, would have made a ring of various weaponry for the mouth, a core with more weaponry for one part of the eye, and something else for the longer eye

I'm starting on a big project here with an enemy that I call the Colossus. It's an enemy so invulnerable (every wall part on the outside has a million hit points) that you have to kill it from the inside. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Even with level 3 of whatever weapon you had, it would take forever to reduce a million HP to zero...

*sigh* Alright. Here's a double post.

I've uploaded the FKL Fraxy enemy pack to SendSpace. It includes the ;o face, FKL, the wacko, and Shoop Da Whoop. Shoop Da Whoop is mainly a "fun" enemy right now (I need to add stuff to make it more challenging). The other three enemies are pretty final in my book unless I get some great ideas/suggestions.

now, details, details. The core is a rotating core, it spins, and everything spins with it. There are four panels: top, bottom, left, and right. Each of those panels also spin. Top and bottom go one direction, left and right spin the other direction. Now, each panel has 4 cross vulcans (4*4=16 vulcans) THAT ALSO ROTATE. Connected to each vulcan is a blade and a medium lazer. Between each panel is placed a burner. The whole thing is a rotating light show. I'll upload it if anyone wants it, and I'm telling you, you have to see this thing animated to appreciate it, it's a freaking light show.

Chances are, you WILL die, even at the lowest rank. I highly recomend using well timed shots of Stun Blaster along with the Blaster gun if you want to kill this thing with any efficieny (well timed because they both are a drain and using it at a bad time will get you shot and killed.)

Oh, and did I mention each panel and the core have dual gravity pullers?

Sord, select your gravity field part and then the "Att act" box on the bottom of the information window.

The higher the number in the pulldown menu, the longer the range.
