Special Drop?

This is something I never understood. On the enemy drop list, some items have the word special drop, and a "yes" or "no" next to it.

What does this mean?

I always assumed that a special drop is one that is regardless of the difficulty C,B,A or S. It can drop on any of them.

Right. Special drops are items that have a chance of dropping from a particular enemy at any level. Generally, these will be biomaterials, but there are some cases of weapons and other items dropping as special drops.
