Is PSU worth coming back to?

I know I'm not really asking the most unbiased source ever, but a few months ago, I dropped out after having absolutely nothing left to do (just after the release of that spore forest level thing) and got tired of the Slicer grind. Since then, I've been playing TF2 and filed through Shithack PSO until I completed everything on Normal. Well, with TF2 medic achievements raping the game and the magic of PSO kind of worn off on me, I have nothing left to do game wise.

So, after hearing about all the PSO stuff coming out, I'm kind of skeptical if I should bother. Is the population still small with two hundred or so people circle-jerking over gear and rare hunts, or are there more people this time around? Do I have anything serious to look forward to outside of spamming Slicer? Is there a load more stuff to do, or is half the AotI disc still locked?

PSU has always been the game I wanted to like, but always ended up being too short or too shallow; something AotI promised to fixed, and I'm still waiting on it.

Theres this whole mess of error 065/billing server stuff going on right now on the PC/PS2 side. I'd avoid it personally for now.

The event makes it good for PUG groups but error 65 has destroyed some of the community.

Last time I was on (2 weekends ago, damn my life is busy) We had one server on 4 stars

Yeah, since that billing error popped up, our server went back to it's slow decay again :/

We were over 5 stars for once (hit 5 stars in uni 2 and had tons of people scattered in the other ones).

well considering that MAG is happening right now i've seen up to 5 stars on a weekend and around 3 during the week, and that's only because there is an event going on. Altho without this event there would be about 2 stars filled on average.

Gee ... I dunno, this doesn't seem to be much different from how people normally act towards Sega and PSU.

The Error 065 issue on PC/PS2 may finally be getting resolved; some people are reporting that their accounts are usable again.

It's unknown whether or not victims of 065 are going to get compensation; one person says a GM said there would at least be a free month of game time for the victims, but who knows what will happen.

If you are a former 360 player, then you can disregard practically all of the responses in this thread as they have not been saddled with the 065 problem (different billing/network system after all).

Here is what you are missing:

Lvl cap and class cap is now 130 and 20 for class
The slicer has been nerfed
The PSO stuff is awesome
Well there was 5 universes filled on the xbox 360 but I dont know if they just combined all the servers because I never have seen so many people.

Yeah the game gets boring unless you have friends and a lot of booze and/or weed. Right now GTAV is great so are the new maps on CoDV, other than that not many other games out right now.

Agreed, to an extent though. Shouldn't you be expecting something like this in a non-PVP, Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game?
I mean hell, I'd rather keep rerunning stuff on this game than any other game, being that it takes skill and timing to fight, instead of clicking on an enemy and waiting for it to die. (Don't give me excuses WoW players, you just press A, D, and jump every once and awhile)

MAG's a pretty good event and a great way to make some money and get good equipment, get caught up to level and class caps, etc.

ProTip: if you ever get bored of the mission, all the regular ones are still available

If you like the core game of PSU, join back in by all means, MAG allows you to catch up to other players incredibly quick, even soloing. Noone is forcing you to spam MAG though, heck, just recently I did a Plains Overlord S2 run with friends for old times sake (lol launch...) and found a Cati/Power! Course, my friend sorta wanted a Kan Yu as well, but isn't that part of the draw of PSO and PSU? Hunting for rares with some close friends is how I like it. And a bit of anti-WoWism from an ex-WoWer: Isn't that what you do anyway in end game WoW? Farm the same monster over and over for rarez? Anyway, I digress, just join if ya want, if you don't like it, just cancel. If you wish, look me up, I'm always happy to find more players to run with.

I just re-joined a few days ago after about a year hiatus. I'm having a lot of fun, if that's any indication, even though i'm doing nothing but spamming MAG missions. People complaining about spamming MAG missions... gimme a break. It's an event. It lasts til the 23rd. It's got more exp, more drops, and we're supposed to be working together here to unlock more crap for the rest of the PSU community. It's ok though. Have fun with all the rewards you didn't have to work for. =P

WoW players don't sit there and click buttons btw, jeezus. Out of all the MMO's i've played, WoW can't be beat when it comes to PVP. It's the fastest action anywhere, and that's because you don't just sit there and click buttons.

I thinking about rejoining after a one year hiatus as well. I've been playing the expansion on PC and its really cool!

I think the reason I quit the first one was because the ps2 version was slow chunky and low-res, and it got hard on the eyes to play. The i can crank the PC settings up a bit more, plus I got winamp next to me, and all my psu guides online. Also I had 4 characters before and it was a real pain online, so hard to raise them all. So this time I think I'm just going to have a Human male, and maybe a newman female. I'll be able to handle that much better.

The limit is indeed 36 photon arts at a time. With AotI came the ability to turn the photon arts into disks though, while they still keep their old levels and can be relearned at any time. Oh yeah thats probably, they got my old characters on the server. I think I'd still start from scratch though, and just take all the items I've collected and sell them. or give them to my newbies. Then I can have a fresh start with awesome weapons. Unless when you transfer ver1 psu characters to ver2 you lose all the items..

If it was a few months back, your account should be completely canceled, just spam new subscription until it bills you. (got me in XD).

I would get back on fast though, MAG is half over and it is still alot of fun. Just ignore half the community they are just bitter because SEGA screwed them over with this Error 65 problem, which is currently getting resolved.

It looks we still have a bit of content to look forward to. I get a feeling though we've brushed through most of AotIs new content though. There are still like 2 rykros missions and a likely reskin boss, a few missions at the Il Cabo Base on Moatoob, which I think we played in during the Boost Road event (it's just another hiverelics reskin), and I think a mission on Neudaiz we don't have yet.

I wonder what SEGA's plans are after all this is up though... Probably just going to ditch the game. >.>
