i think i've finally realized how you can tell when you are fully grown up... its when your birthday no longer is important to you or something you dread... i hope i never get that way... what do you guyz believe is an indicator of adulthood?

I said "for no reason". Not because you hate yourself, emo.

I forget how old I am. I had three people remind me it was my birthday on the weekend of. I didn't care for presents, a party, or anything short of an envelope with some cash in it. Time to buy me some lottery tickets.

I also remember the days when our best source of entertainment was watching a triangle shoot dots at large imperfect circles, which broke up and became faster circles. It was madness. Also, you could move the triangle in bursts, but if you overuse it you go out of control. Crazy.

I thought that was magic at the time.

I always felt it was the point where people stop asking you for ID.

im still under 30 but im finding aging to be a little more difficult than previously expected. basically there are 3 major indicators (at least for me)

1. you nailed one with the birthday thing. sure they're still special. they're your days... but they probably won't always be as fun as that 7th birthday you may or may not have had with the magic show bunnies, like 30 kids going crazy, and insane amounts of ice cream cake + many many presents.

2. the emotional transition from teen angst to "oh shit this is serious". as in, life in danger serious or financial crisis serious and absolutely not not 'oh what does she think of me' or 'i can't believe they actually said that about me' serious.

3. suddenly anime becomes pretty apparent for its mental toxicity and general disregard for the viewer themselves. Well, lots of modern media is like that to be fair. I just... love bashing on anime.

Ironically, I find that quite a bit of anime is more mature and enlightening than the overwhelming majority of mainstream television. I'm sorry, but Lost, Survivor and American Idol simply don't make me ponder my place in the universe in the way that Vandread, Saber Marionette J and Cowboy Bebop do.

Eh well, people tend to forget that anime is more of a medium, not a genre ;/ That said, mainstream anime like pokemon, naruto, bleach, one piece, inuyasha, etc, are not so good in the make you think hard about yourself. They might try and pound home a moral or two (friendship, believing in yourself, the resolve to fight for what you want, there was a moral here? respecively) but don't do any better than a kids show might at it. Certainly nothing profound. Most people who bash anime seem to be the ones that see the stupid shit from the start and don't boher watching the good ones because they think it really is all the same.

I was worried about my 27th because I don't want to be the grandma on PSU. But then I realized that everyone else of PSU is getting older too, and new people are a rarity. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif It'll be like The Sims Online in the end, where everyone is over thirty and making houses that are adult only that they share with their online spouses of three + years (yeaaaaaaaaaah, my revisit to TSO was pretty awkward).
