what is the benifits of having a female character? I heard there faster but thats it? And also whats the benifits of males?

An extra attack to the Twin Claw weapon
2 more base STA than males, meaning its easier to negate level one megid than it is for a male

Benefits of having a male include not looking like a sex object.

You get free rares from rubes.

Even more if it's a newman female.

One benefit of a female character is that you don't have to stare at a guys backside for hundreds of hours.

ooo thats pretty good. So is a female newman better than a male?

Sega seems to favor female characters. Males get a few extra points in ATP and ATA (I think). And Females get a few extra points in everything else (STA, TP, MST, and DFP). There might be something else... I can't remember

Unfortunately for males, as well, no matter how you create them, they're always ripped... I tried making several "Non-buff" looking guys only to fail every time.

However, to balance the above problem, females usually always look like some creepy guy's fantasy doll... but if that's your thing then I guess that's a plus <_<;

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that there are several "Female only" weapons. More so than the "Male only" weapons

Boobies. That is all.

...sorry. Girls are faster and smarter, but a little more fragile and not as strong. So we sacrifice ATP and DEF for MST/Tech/Stamina, basically.

Males get higher HP, ATP and ATA.
Females get higher DFP, TP, EVP, MST and STA.

And yes, there are gender exclusive weapons. The ones I can remember are:

Male only: Stag Cutralli, Kan Yu, Van Brella
Female only: Kohibumiteri, Magical Wand, Madam Brella

Oddly, I can't remember any more than those, though I'm sure they exist.

That's my character (and me in PSU) and I am not buff. Neither is he. Just letting you know that it is possible. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

And as for all the benefits you get for being a female character, it is worth going for. But it also depends on what you want out of PSU too. Since I am representing myself in PSU, my main is like me: a Male. But if you don't give two boomas about that kind of stuff, go for what works for you. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

If you make a male character that's only a bit skinnier than default, his legs are going to be so thin they look like they're about to snap.
While I don't think all males look THAT buff, it would be perfectly normal if they did since they're Guardians and all. You'd think being physically fit is required for the job, melee class or not.

I have 3 male characters and 1 female, although I'm considering dropping my male newman and re-rolling for another female. I have a female character because I want more variety and I don't want my character roster to be a total sausage fest.

There is no notable better, its all preference. I usually have male characters cause yeah, guys here always hit on female characters haha. And then there are those messed up trap people >> But thats a different story. I mean, if you're looking in superiority, for say Fortefighter, beast male is the way to go statwise. I screened the stats of races with their respective classes for this. Either way, its not too notable. And with the game being so easy as it is, visual preference is all it comes down to when it comes to most people.

There's something creepy about controlling a fantasy doll girl, so I just stick with using a representation of myself: male.

I have to say though, females are better in stats due to their STA advantage giving them better irritating status resistance.

And they have far more good options for clothing and hair. Especially hair.

Males pretty much have better stats in Melee and Ranger oriented classes (because of higher ATP and ATA mods, so the difference a bit higher).

Females are slightly better in techer roles (TP and MST mods).

DFP is lol. STA is lol because there are resist units. There has not been a situation I was in that I said to myself, "I wish I had more STA". You'll always be megiddo'd no matter what race you are (and I have had females, annd its really NOT noticable).

edit: And by slightly I mean INCREDIBLY MARGINAL. Eventually there will be 100+ differences in some stats, but its looking like 20-50ish right now.

21 STA makes you immune to the Incapacitate of low-level Megid (see Deljaban). With a Male, it's very hard to get your STA to that kind of level. Higher level Megid tends to come fro larger monsters, and is therefore more predictable (since large monsters don't tend to be in HUGE groups)

Female Fortegunner: 15STA
Delette Line: +2STA
A-Rank SUV/Aura Field/Rappy Mode: +4STA
Total: 21STA

That'd give you 21STA. Admittedly for a fighter/techer, it's a lot harder, as they don't have inherent STA boosts. So with that setup, the female is now immune to one-hit death from Deljabans.

On a Male..
Male Fortegunner: 12STA
Delette Line: +2STA
A-Rank SUV/Aura Field/Rappy Mode: +4STA
Total: 18STA

To get 21+ STA on a male gunner:
Base STA: 12
Shinowa Line: +3STA
Hard / Stamina: +6STA
Total: 21STA

Shinowa Lines are easy to get now with MAG, but Hard / Stamina is something very few people have. It dropped in the end boxes of an EX mission in 1up, and in the one that most people couldn't clear fast enough. My team managed to clear it twice in the whole of 1Up, and got lucky.

I play 3 females and a male- the male admittedly getting the least usage. After playing a male for a bit, I much prefer the increased STA a Female has, and how easy it is to get to the magic 21 compared to a male.

In comparasion the stat differance between male/female isn't enough to really matter. Classes and race will make more of a stat differance.

only real noticable difference is that as a guy you dont get loads of random losers spamming mail at you cause they dont have gf's irl, and you dont get to annoy the hundreds of desperate guys using 1st person on you on the 4th floor, and your shirts arent as good...

Parn pretty much got fed up with the game/economy and quit, then got some kicks trolling the official sega forums, maybe did some around here, too. It felt pretty bad just reading it all, but it was somewhat entertaining watching him get a rise out of people.

It's kinda funny to see that people still remember him. He left his mark on the world, sort of!

That's because you suck, not because of the STA value.

Neith
May 17, 2008, 11:32 AM
I actually made a mistake in an earlier post- A-Rank SUV's only add 3STA, not 4. You could still get the target 21 quite easily though.

Feign, having 12STA as a female won't save you from Megid, you will still die often to it. You need to reinforce that STA with units, and ideally get as close to 21 as possible with units and armour.

Also, I should note for anyone trying this- 21STA only nullifies SE Lv1 Megid, such as what Deljabans use. If you're trying to resist higher tier Megid, you'll need even more STA (probably a stupid amount you can't hope to obtain).

For those who don't know what uses which tier of Megid (Tier 1 and 2 look quite similar, afterall) :
[spoiler-box]Carriguine: SE3
Deljaban: SE1
Delp Slami: SE2? I need to look closer at this, but I think it's Tier 2 Megid.
Dulk Fakis (Phase 1): SE3
Jarba: SE3
Jusnagun: SE2
Kagajibari: SE3 (not that it should be using it...)
SEED-Magashi: SE3
SEED-Vitace: SE3
[/spoiler-box]

Even if you don't get 21STA, the closer you are, the less chance of being owned in one-hit Just don't expect any amount of STA to help much against SE3 Megid, you'd probably still die with a De Colte Line equipped http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

When it comes down to it STA, to me, seems to be the only major difference. On average females have 20% more than males, and other stats only have about ~5% difference. STA has been noted to be either very or only marginally important, and that seems to be dependant on what equipment the character is wearing. It also seems to be the only thing that is very difficult to boost up to a "proper" amount. Other stats are still effective if only a few points lower that the counter gender, give or take a few situations.

What really matters is the race and class you choose, as well as the equipment and skill when playing the game.

With 20STA, a Deljaban could still kill you. The only other way you could prevent it would be to raise your MST to such a level where Deljabans can't hurt you with Megid (if a tech does 0 damage, it cannot apply status). Otherwise, 20STA is still killable.

I know, because I have a gunner with 20STA, and Deljabans still one-hit her occasionally. Admittedly, it's a rare occurance though.

20 you can still die to megid, but with a castest line and a paradi cataract, my caseal Figh/AF is completely immune to incapacitate and very resistant to other SEs I heard 23 is the magic number. I don't know if that's true...but stamina does help with resistance to SEs quite a bit.

Other than that looks and the minor alterations to weapon selection are the only things even remotely worth mention.

oh and beast wise, there are those that feel the male nano blast is better than that of the female.

as far as the "sex object" bit...my females get people to stop and stare while I stand around in a lobby. my Male character has actually been hit on. you'll get attention either way. just how it goes.

STA was never nerfed, it's a few SEs which were boosted (Freeze, Sleep, etc.), don't make that mistake.

Incapacitation (Megid) was not boosted, anyway.

I will happily tell that to anyone who hits on my characters, after swiping the stuff they throw at me of course. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
