While this is not necessarily a permanent solution for months to come, it will get every single player back in the game and ensures everyone will be able to play MAG in its entirety, including throughout the extended dates.

We thank each and every one of the players affected for being patient and understanding as we have worked towards this fix. We also understand how frustrating it can be to encounter the errors during our best event yet, and so we are extending MAG an additional two weeks on all servers, as well as starting a fresh set of leaderboards to give all PSU players an equal and fair chance to enjoy MAG, compete with fellow players, and play PSU to their heart's content. We will have full details on this posted soon.

I would also like to personally thank Edward and Max from customer support for their continued help as the issue progressed. Please feel free to echo this if you'd like, as these guys did a ton of work answering forms and keeping us in the loop, and I feel they deserve a lot of appreciation for it.

Thanks again everyone. We'll see you on the fifth floor!

For the love of god, they'd better be locking the old leaderboards in place. -_-

I've heard so many thing like this, I don't know what to think about it. I mean, I really, -really- hope it's true, but I'm kind of waiting for an official board anouncement on the subject before throwing my hands up in cheer.

I hope you're right, though :/

That's thel ine that worries me. It's pretty vauge. What does that mean? Deleting the old boards, and making new ones? Making a new one to start now and freezing the old one? Making it later?

Ruby -did- respond, however, further down the page, and clarified:

No worries, the current leaderboard will finish as planned on the 22nd, and all players who worked hard to get there will receive their prizes. Following which we will be starting a second leaderboard, and we'll have more news on the specifics of the second one later today.

THIS is what I was wondering about http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Do people really think that MAG is better than Firebreak was? Firebreak was universe wide and had a ton of fun missions that had more than just your standard running between monster spawns followed by killing them. MAG is just another One-Mission 5th floor spamfest.

Recently a number of PC/PS2 players have experienced Error 65, which stemmed from a problem with our billing server. With tonight's maintenance we have bypassed this error and all accounts who were previously affected should now be able to login and play immediately.

I.E. They still don't know what's wrong, and have basically just cut the billing server lose.

We thank each and every one of the players affected for being patient and understanding

lol

Yeah, the did respond to many people's complaint tickets with unique and personal responses, which I appreceated. Kept them in the loop though? For two weeks the GM's and Mods basically said "Don't ask us, we're not the billing team. We'll update you when we get an update from them, and we haven't gotten any updates from them" That's not what I call "in the loop". People had better luck getting answers by tracking down Sega's phone number and calling up their offices themselves.

as well as starting a fresh set of leaderboards to give all PSU players an equal and fair chance to enjoy MAG,

Question: Will the "new" leaderboards be PS2/PC exclusive, as competing against the 360 players who did not have this problem doesn't seem right. Will people who have already gotten on the current leaderboards and have not been affected by 065 be locked out of the new leaderboards? As it doesn't seem right that they get a chance to compete twice. A bit more thought into it, or at least, a bit more explanation is warranted.

Not that I could give a shit about either the old or the new leaderboards really. Two more weeks to save badges and lvl characters is enough for me.

Though honestly, I still think Sega could have squared things away much easier. Forget the free month, the MAG extension, the other forms of compensation. Simply seeing the managers of the billing servers get the axe would have been enough for me. Make them clean out their desks and GTFO, and take some polaroids of it to post on the forums. If it was outsourced, then fire the guy who's brilliant idea it was to outsource them. Granted, the people who would replace them wouldn't likely be any better... but it would still feel good seeing them escorted out of the building by security.

While Firebreak had more variety too many people spammed Neudaiz which was a pity since I liked the Moatoob mission. At least with MA G since it's a single mission there's no need to worry about that even if a lot of them are spamming C.

yup, NO event so far has been better than firebreak. atleast ther it was something u had to do in addition to kill a ton of enemys, namely purify.

but im happy for 2 extra weeks of mag as it gives me time to lv upp my alts. spread G was not my goal in this event

I wish they'd just close the leader boards now...I'm so sick of using one character 90% of the time just to keep my head above water. this event is driving me nuts. it's taking a lot of self control not to follow this with a stream of profanity. this event is a chore, not a game....dumbest shit ever

6 weeks of one mission with no variety? "yeah just like PSO" hell no, I could run caves an stop right there if I wanted...where are the other bosses? what's with this retarded dark falz? give us the prices and close the leader borads. lleave the event open for 3 more weeks for those who want badges/xp/mp and idc if theres a new leaderboard or not.

I think this event is pretty good. Firebreak was probably the overall best, but this one is decent, too. Of course, the main thing Firebreak had going for it, is full party challenge. I think the general tougher environment, for when Firebreak came out, was part of the reason. Support folks were put to their fullest test (when not running the easiest of those missions), during that time, and I loved it.

While we are not forced to play the event missions, I wish they did something bigger and have each mission BE one of the PSO areas, and have it released week by week for each area, and then have all 4 avalaible at the end, like 1UP. 1 UP IMO is the best event because it was the mission routes were interesting and varied, and since each last for a week till the last week, we don't get sick of it as easily.

Still, while part of me was against extending this event, I have been feeling ill so I missed out on getting more badges and more MP, along with using alot of my non sick time to help my friend with his leader board, its nice to see I'm getting an extension.

And starting a fresh leaderboard, wow, can't believe I didn't think of that. I say anyone who's definitly getting a needle, back off and let the 065 club have a shot.

Since I've been playing this event for a while, I will probably only play for MP, more gold badges to lottery, and Paradi hunting. I suggest people who are tired of the event but wanna snag more goodies before it goes, just play casually and swap between non event missions with MAG. Mix it up a little. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

No, it wouldn't have been. Trust me.

As for the "best event" topic, I enjoyed 1-up the most, but MAG's still been pretty fun. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Firebreak was my favorite event so far as well. Lots of missions on all planets, purifying SEED made it feel a lot more like part of the storyline, and it had a variety of scoring requirements.

1Up was awesome for opening the club and having that retarded song in it, then getting prizes at the end where it looked like a game show was pretty funny.

MAG seems to have a lot less production around it... the website is decent, but there's not a lot of "woo MAG" lobby stuff in-game. I like the mission a lot though, some of the battles (especially Ruins 2) are really big and violent.

My account was 065'ed and inactive for heck how many months now, but yeah, that was because I took a break. Now I didn't even renew nor was I able to play to begin with, now I can play again, it's a godsend, and during this free month I'll probably be able to persuade my mom or whoever to use a credit card so I can continue to play. Hell yeah, pure win.
Also, the compensation and the thing with the seperate leaderboard sounds cool, too.
ST, good job.

Im glad they fixed this and Im glad they have a "solution" for the leaderboard madness. Now I can relax and enjoy Memorial day weekend. Not that I wasnt goin to anyway. Its good that everyones hard work is not wasted and the original leader board will close as scheduled. The new leader board will either be a blessing for those who were locked out or a grand curse of doom but at least we can all get more badges... and pushans http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Your not. I love MAG. BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE S-RANK MONSTERS WORTH MORE POINTS. IT'S SILLY TO MAKE C-RANK THE EASIEST WAY TO OBTAIN KILLS. NOT TO MENTION TOTALLED KILLS PER ACCOUNT NOT CHARACTER.

I never really played Firebreak so I don't really have an opinion about the missions, except I have to say the PHOTON ERASER is the "DUMBEST" thing ever! And the googles get a close second.
To me it would've mad more sense to just use ice weapons and attack the stupid things (like the burning rangers mission in PSO)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
ANYWAYS..... So do you guys think their actually going to give away more Spreed Needle /G's. By the statement "giving other players a fair chance to compete ( err somthing like that)," pretty much means to me that they are. Other wise it wouldn't be fair. Am I right? Although they could just be referring to the Medals.

What do you guys think?

This event does need more variety. one mission for 4 weeks is just another stupid seabed/white beast. Who needs another seabed. Give this event more missions like other events have and Dengeki Carnival. Of all events, this onre turnsed out to be a total disapointment. Atleast in variety.

No, i never said it isnīt boring. Itīs boring like hell, but ST is you know very lazy and only do new things if the monkeys donīt do their work.

Only reason i am still sticking around, is that i enjoy the gameplay and hunting with friends.

And how hard is it for ST to make more open terrain missions really?
Absolute Zero is one mission i wanted up for a long time, feels wierd it still isnīt put up online.

Or how about for some reason, you have to fight between big towers with bridges between on the ocean?
1 block could be in first tower, 2 block on the bridge, 3 block in second tower and 4 block..you guessed it..BOSS FIGHT ON THE ROOF!

Let's put it this way...

You either keep playing MAG to keep yourself in the leaderboards or you don't. Simple choice. No one is telling you to stay in leaderboards.

Btw... where the hell does it say that people are getting a free month of PSU? o_o or am I misreading something from someone?

Hopefully Sega does a bypass, so that the same people don't win Needles both MAGs. It'd be unfair for them to close the first leaderboards, award the Needles, and then have the same people spam 200,000+ kills just to win another. Hopefully they skip over those people for the second leaderboards...

Not dissing you spammers, we appreciate what you do for the kill count, but you must admit, winning two Needles would be silly...

Not dissing you spammers, we appreciate what you do for the kill count, but you must admit, winning two Needles would be silly...

you can make a new playsega account and login to it without paying, apparently. (i haven't tested it)

if this is true, what's to stop the current leaderboard from making a new account, building a new protranser, and spamming c's for another needle?

seriously, this event was put here for a reason. do we have to play? of course not. hell you don't have to wear clothes or bea functioning member of society but there are certain obligations you take on as a human being and certain obligations you take on playing this game online. when an event comes along, you participate. they offer you a prize, you compete for it.

the reality is this event is a bust. neat idea, retro areas are very cool and seeing the old game recreated on newer consoles and the PC...but lets face it. every other event had variety. firebreak they released new missions every week or so. they intended for you to play the new ones, but we still got points for the old ones, too. you had a choice!

1up we got a mission for every planet and the colony which was on rotation til the last week where we got them all. once again...choices

winter festa! two missions each with two paths and a chance as a hidden path in either mission. you got to choose which one you wanted! for the last time...GODDAMNED CHOICES!!!

this whole EVENT is on a rail! you run one path and get to the end. the only choice you have is how far in you go. and with the promise of rewards and prizes for all, those who don't participate are what most would call a bad citizen of the already weak community.

4 weeks even of causal play you're going to burn out...but 4 weeks of one character - or mostly one character. for an item....4 weeks! I have over 114k kills. its not anywhere near the top and I honestly feel like I never want to see this game again! Everyone I know who competed are so burnt out they're taking a break after the event ends. and its those of us competeing that are competing that are driving the total point value up. 500 people have earned over 60 million by themselves. that's about 45% of the total score thus far and you can bet your asses thats not 45% of the community. if it weren't for those competing , combined with the 065 error, we probably would even have falz by now.

thats not demanding a thankyou or a pat on the back, thats to give those of you telling me "no one's forcing you to play" to gain a little perspective. its this competition thats getting the community prizes. so no ones forcing us to play, but the competition is whats driving this event.

and yes...I want my spread needle. the promise a 14* shotgun for all my effort is what's making me stay...but when you play as many hours a day as I do to keep my head above water, when you do so many runs a day you have over 100k kills in 3 weeks...you want a break....you need one..

so as I said. let the event stay open. i don't care...I realize a lot of people missed out on a lot of things. I realize point wise we have a long way to go. 2 weeks more on the event sounds great and I hope everyone who still has it in them will enjoy it. but I think with the extension, the should have cut the leaderboard by a week and let us all stop this madness. let the 065ers and those who didn't have time before burn themselves out for 3 weeks.

w/e point is this event is too long for the way it was set up. this is a fact.

I'm thinking this is only true for pc/ps2 users, as we are the ones who were getting 065'd, and the ones who received the maintenance last night. I believe, though not 100% sure, that xbox billing is still working ok.

But yeah, easy way to get 2 if your on the pc/ps2 servers. Get your account for free, get your points, then transfer that needle on over once they release it and cancel the new account. Already figured people would realize this early, so I'm just gonna try to stick on the main leaderboard for now and enjoy the event with the 2 bonus weeks. I feel really worn out, even though I'm not anywhere near the top point holders...money aside, I don't think I could do that for another 2 weeks just for something to sell and get a few bucks from. If I get 1 I'll be fine with that. Enjoying the event for 2 bonus weeks and not competing is a-ok by me.

Events need more than 3 missions this is why firebreak and 1up cup was a hit and so will Dengeki. Doing other missions defeats the purpose of the even and makes getting points harder. Look at moatoob firebreak, see how horrible that did because it had only one tedious, but no spamworthy reward fun or w/e mission.

Screw other missions, when events come, noone should be motivated to do other missions more than the event.

Individual characters who were previously in the top 500 leader board will not be eligible for the second kill count leader board.

keyword there. so anyone on the current leaderboard can get a 2nd needle if they have another viable character.

I am sorry I don't think that anybody getting a needle should be eligible to get a 2nd needle. This was done to give those who didn't have a chance to compete the first time a chance to play and compete for the item, not to give somebody else a chance for a second one. It should be limited to one per account.

The leader boards will end as originally scheduled, with the top 500 getting needles, medals, etc.

Then the leaderboards will be cleared, and people will be able to compete again for additional needles, etc. including the 065'ers.

Characters that won needles from the original leaderboard won't be able to this time, but they can still compete with other characters on their account if I understand right.

if they were gonna do that they'd have to combine scores from all your characters and let you use whoever you wanted to increase your score(what they should have done in the first place). Character bound winnings like this are BS. forcing you to use one character 90-100% of the time for 4 weeks is BS

Hopefully we'll get word soon on whether or not kill counts and all that will be reset for the second board. If it is, I can just hang back until then, but if it doesn't, I need to go back to my mindless grind.

I wasn't 065'd, my excuse is I wanted to play GTA4. It's real hard to decide what game to play, one of the most anticipated titles of the year, or an almost 2 year old game that's nearing it's death (on PC/PS2, mind.) for 6-8 hours a day just to possibly compete with other shining pillars of society over a single weapon.
