After installation do you need to have the cd in the drive in order to start the game?

no. It runs completely from memory

It runs off your HD.

Yeah, once it's installed, it runs off the hard drive. Really convenient.

Make sure that you install the ActiveX from the disk too. I accidently skipped that and then it didn't respond when I tried to go online.

DirectX, not ActiveX, but yes, you must install the version from the disc for PSU to work.
