So, someone mentioned in the nouveau Rants Burn Booth that they hate the sound of the words weeaboo and emo. I think it's interesting to look at people's aural or visual word-aversions or, on the flip side, favorite words to say, read, or type. The idea is to single out words without regard to meaning.

Off the bat, I can think of a few I particularly like to taste on my tongue:
bog
wraith
disingenuous

Thinking of words to hate...

I particularly hate the word "comb", think "water" sounds weird, just about any word with -ay in it I don't like. I prefer words with a sharp and strong pornounciation in them, less flowing and more distinct syllables FTW!

Cellar door. God damn, that phrase is ugly-sounding.

Don't take French then.

I like curse words. The feel, the flow, the result.

Words I hate are anything I'll twist my tongue on. Which is basically anything, especially at work. :(

"Door" is a particularly inelegant word, isn't it?

Also, while I will agree with you, Sord, that "comb" sounds blagh to my ears, I find "honeycomb" and "coxcomb" kind of fun.

One for the ugh list:
-pituitary

I like words with sharp "K" or "T" sounds in them. =3
Not sure what I hate... I'll have to think on that.

Oozy-sounding/harsh words.

As for words I like, there's a reason I use http://www.rinkworks.com/namegen/ for fantasy-sounding names rather than making them up myself. Left to myself I'll make up several dozen names that are all full of Es, As, Is, hard Cs, Ls, Ns, Ds and Rs. Which is great if I'm naming a bunch of fucking elves, but not so great if I'm not, in fact, naming a bunch of fucking Elves. Like, the last name I came up with for something was Celéndrien. Which at least doesn't start with E. I have a really bad tendency to come up with/select names that start with E. (A good half of my PSO-universe characters have names that start with E. Ephram, Eri, Elaine, Eolwyn...)

He shall be my Elf, and I shall call him Greg.

XD

I just tried to come up with a fantasy-ish name, and Elceren was what I came up with. See what I mean? (And yep, the c is hard. el-kare-en)

Are there any legitimate English words wherein a the "c" of a "ce" combination has a hard sound?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm not trying to make a legitimate english word, either.

Wikipedia to the rescue: soccer.
Which is kind of a funny word, because it's pronounced just like "football" in some English dialects.
