You can request ANYTHING! be it PSO/PSU related.. something creepy? some other games/anime/human you want me to draw for you? I accept pretty much everything..

Basic Rules
• Try to keep your request within the rules of this board. I don't really care about drawings mature stuff, but others here might.
• Make a detailed discription, with preferably as much reference as possible. If you don't, I will make weird poop-art.
• You can pick any style you wan't. Just name the drawing out my gallery with the style you like, and I'll do it.

Yep.. megaman is getting old.. good 'old' buddy!

I did this with my new style again.. this time a little cleaner.. I think I am starting t get the hang of it! I did this pic in only 6 hours! I am definitly gonna keep this style!

FYI: It's a style where I 'speedpaint' the thing in greyscales first, I go from low detail till high detail in quite a high speed. Then I add the flats on top of it in a burn layer, I add some extra colors, add some blue shading, and add a nice overlay effects. It's simple, fast and effective!

and finaly I always do some color corrections using a Brightness/Contrast layer, there are two versions: One with high brightness and contrast and one with low brightness. note: The Birghtness/Contrast I use is new in Photoshop CS3, so if you have an older Photoshop version you have to use different tools:

When you use Linear Burn layers it's easy to make shades by only using all sorts of grays.

Actually, i like the way you made the face on this one. And also how you brought up more details on the suit with the coloring. Though, your first Alex drawing was much better in my opinion.
I'm not really fond of the background you made, the blood is kind of disappointing compared to say... just the one you made on Shurikane's picture, and i'd say the rat got some issues. Well, i know it's a mutant or whatever, but since when do rats have human-like elbows ? :wacko:

I don't really like the whole drawing, other then the pose. It lacks detail in the shading department.

The whole coloring got ruined anyways, because of the way to fat lines. I wasn't really motivated to make an impressive background either.

About the rat: I have no freakin idea what a rat truly looks like :wacko:

I think you need to practice drawing her more probably. Oh, and the lower part of her chest seems way too long to me. Like, maybe the part between the two belts is too much. Well, i wouldn't delete ALL what is between the two belts, but the majority of it.

Only thing I notice is the lower half (Crotch, hips, etc.) dont look right. look a bit odd. I'm not good with words. im a spatial learner, so visuals worked for me. I'd sketch up something but I dont want to pollute your thread with random lower half sketches. But I'd say you nail everything pretty well, I think you need to go around following women and staring at the lower half of their bodies. I do it... all the time. *grin*

yeah.. I pretty much always suck at the lower part of the body :P Sketching the lower body usually takes at least twice as long as the upper body.

the biggest problem is probably the croth.. and I already knew what was wrong.. sometimes I am to lazy to fix mistakes :wacko:

Just do what I do and kindly ask them to wear the black trash bag over themselves so you cant see their bewbs. Usually tho it doesnt work and you get the cops called on you. But hey its worth a try.

yeah.. about the colors.. I just looked up pictures of Nei from Phantasy Star 2, and there she has purple hair.. so I sticked with that. I actually like how the color of the hair turned out..

Emm.. probably VERRRRY long.. this schoolyear is almost over, which means I will soon have alot of time to draw, drawn and draw.

People can make as much requests as they want (Rust already got 2 of them done) So if you feel like requesting, just send a PM. I choose the requests in the order I feel like.. cause when I am forced to draw a certain picture, I really start to mess up.

Still in sketching fase.. any constructive feedback is wanted, cause I know there is something that makes her pose look wrong. I've been trying to change tons of stuff on her stomach, but it didn't solve it.

Issues i'd point out would be the area around her left bewb ; the attachment to the rest of her body seems a bit weird and i'd have made the width from breasts to her back a bit more narrow. And also the upper part of her right leg, above the knee, is a bit odd-shaped (i took RAmarl bottoms into considerations), almost like he the leg was somehow broken or torn.

If you don't want her to be too skinny, She would fall though a crack on the floor. She looks fine though...Her fingers look alittle fat of the left side. As for possible ideas for my request I'd say either have her sitting around and being all melancholy or emo, or have her kicking the crap outta something, in which case I'd like to see her strangling something with her weapon.

Huh... I dunno now. My main issue was with the line between shoulders and the line between breasts. Seeing as I don't have them either I really can't say, but for someone to move their shoulders at that angle while keeping their chest and torso that straight it would be incredibly uncomfortable and wouldn't look natural.

I actually did something in MS Paint to help illustrate.

I think the lines of the shoulders shouldn't be that steep. I'd also suggest returning the pants around the hips to what they were in the original. The belt thingy looks like it's kinda floating on nothing.

It actually IS possible to move your shoulders quite a bit up and down.

Just to explain: The (for us) right shoulder is tilted higher and the left one ower (and you don't need to turn your complete torso for it, I tried it in the mirror :wacko:).
add to that that the body is slightly tilted.

It's probably the breasts that destroy the illusion :o

but I think I fixed it already quite a bit with the last edit. it's at least not really bothering me as much.

About the belt:
I actually did draw it on her hips, but I discorverd it actuall a little bit under the belly button in the ingame model. So I moved it up a bit.

Question for Aki:
From my artistic point of view: I don't really like the color combination of the clothes so far.. You think I should keep these colors, or try to expiriment a bit with them? (like I did with my last pic).
You can choose :wacko: it's not much work to change them.

When I color stuff I try to narrow the colors down to a small color palet. A picture with to much different colors ends up to be unpleasent to look at, no matter how good the shading and line work is.

heyo, haven't stopped by in awhile. Fan Works seem to get really slow there for awhile.

Anyways, looks like some nice work on your Nei renditions. Me being me, I prefer the darker colored one. This latest ones looks good to, though something seems off about the arms to me. Folds look like half muscles or something, somehow simultaneously scrawny and ripped at the same time.

The problem is not even the great amount of pictures.. but the fact that I am not improving with my latest drawings. It feels like hitting some invisible wall. Up till now I've improved my drawing skills drasticly and probably faster then most other artists.
I mean.. this was my first drawing done with my tablet (sketched on paper though) on the 10th of April 2007: 52894135
14 months ago, I never could've thought that I would reach my current quality of drawings.

Thats makes me quite positivie that you can also improve like hell in a short period of time. (and any other artist).

Oh that reminds me: I found some old pencil drawing of mine that I made when I was somewhere between 10 and 14 years old :wacko:.. Maybe I'll post some of those.. just for some good laughs :wacko:

Yes, I know what you mean. I had the same situation a few years ago. Today I have the problem, that I improve my skill faster, but spend more time in one picture.

Take so much time as you need! I think its a kind curse of every artist. A time will come, where you must take a break. But this period will be good for you, trust me ^^.

Its really impressive how fast you draw your pictures! You need only a few days and the result is awesome!

I am glad to hear it is a common artists problem :wacko:

I am not a very fast drawer though.. full CG'ed drawings with backgrounds take easely between 10 and 15 hours.. and for real big ones with more then one character it takes 20 hours. It's just that I haven't done much other stuff other then drawing.. thats why it looks like I am fast.

In the past I also did alot of other stuff besides drawing, like 3D and making music. I dropped the music stuff, and only do that with a friend. I also dropped 3D because my knowledge of anatomy and my texturing (drawing) skills sucked. Thats why I decided that I should become good at drawing first. I might pick up 3D again in the future.

If you did have an eraser you could erased the blue within the photon cage (tm Xaelis) of the guns while making sure you erase in an outwardly direction. After a few times that would have made a neat little glowing affect if done properly.

Yesh! I've drawn something yesterday.. since this idea has been in my mind for more then a week.. and I real feld like drawing.. so I did :o it's not a very impressive drawing.. just simple.. no heavy shading.. I think it's better to keep the heavyshading for drawings without outline.. meh whatever.. :wacko:

I used a reference pic for the pose and some for the clothing.. the background shows all the levels of the game (Altough the last level is not really visible.. but it should be somehwere in the trees). This time I began with the background.. it somehow works because I started to look forward to color the character.

Anyway.. colorfull drawing :D nothing special, dark or disturbing.

Cinderella: Grimm edition

SOOOOOO... YES! another CRAAAAAZY Fairytale.. I am back with the disproportioned, chibified, fairtale girls with blood and to big boobs :D

actually this one will be totaly different from the rest.. since this one will be more hillarious/disgusting and the coloring will be simple cartoon style to do the fat lines justice..

I think I succeeded with my goal.. I think this one is the most funny because of cinderella and the prince in the front and the most disgusting because of the human gore.. it somehow looks more sick then those bunnies/smurfs..

I actuall didn't line it :wacko: I simply sketched on a high resolution :P

Yeah.. I've been focusing on making my drawings more dynamic.. and I am trying to cut down the time I work on them. I still have to work on perspective.. since the characters are still viewed from a front angle.

Yes they are! Ever since the Dreamcast went down.. SEGA did as well! I loved all there games I loved their consoles (Yeah I even got a Sega Saturn :o) but right now?? come on! Sonic 2k6 was one of the worst games I've ever played.. it was completly unfair, broken, bugged and the story.. T_T and the worst part: THE GAMEPLAY WAS FCKN BROKEN!

and now comes Sonic Unleashed.. I mean F*CK THAT! yet again another broken game with way to highspeeds and almost no control of sonics movements.. I want a freakin platform game! interactive movies racing game! Sonic Adventure 1 for the dreamcast was a great translation of what Sonic in 3D had to be.. the levels where fuyn, you had control of sonic and the music was good.. why the hell did they change all of that!? Shadow?? f*ck that emo! the only good part about SA2 was the improved Chao garden..

Let me just post my pm about Sonic 360 ^^:

I played Sonic and I wondered every time how many the game must load.
Load the title screen, then walk around in the city... found a person with a mission and its loaded again... he explained what I must do, and then it begun to load... I run through rings, complete the mission and saw the loading screen once more. The person congrats me, gave me something and then... wtf? LOADING! I didnt want to make any sidequests and go to the portal... and then loading again... I died several times (especially as Tails) and f***ing loading-screen again. Without any loading, I put the disc back in the case and resell it with ebay.
Sonic The Hedgehog for Xbox 360 (not Arcade) looks very nice, got a good soundtrack and really awesome film-sequences... but all the rest sucks! Sorry SEGA, but this is not the right way!

@Q: You forgot the loading screen xD.
BTW: PSO, Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure were the best games from SEGA. I cant believe how bad are the games now. I mean, PSU is pretty cool, but its not better than PSO! Especially the graphic in PSO is better than in PSU!!! Sonic Adventure 2 is the best game ever, but why they are unable to make a better game for 360??? I mean, this cannot be so hard, right? I remember me at my younger days, I m really sure to say, that SEGA can programm good games and a amazing soundtrack! Especially PSO!!! I missed all this... -_-

I've grown up with Sega.. it all began with the awesome Sega Master System and the GameGear (Looks at Psichic World drawing) yup.. Sonic, Alex the Kidd, Castle of Illusion, Ninja Gaiden, Robocod.. jup.. those were the days.. :)

Later the Sega Saturn.. Damn! I loved that thing! it had so many great 2D games and alot of arcade titles.. of course NiGHTS, Virtual On, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter Kids, Keio2, good old 2D rayman, Sega Rally..

At last the dreamcast with Superb titles like Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, PSO, Sonic Adventure 1, Metropolis Street Racer, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Jet Set Radio.. etc etc..

and now what do we get? crap crap and even more CRAP!
Where is Skies of Arcadia 2? Where is a new JSR? Virtual On? 2D platformers?? T_T

It might also be a good style to pick up for your first coloring works.. since it's fast and quite easy.. I think you can get the hang of it in no time.. and if you don't understand some steps I make, you can always ask for explaination.. altough it usually only gets more complicated when I try to explain something :wacko:

AH! you noticed.. after all these years of drawing.. I finally discovered what my eyes always missed.. CHEEKS! the eyes are not round at the bottom.. because the muscles in the cheeks makes the lower part more flat.. creating the illusion she actually laughs. yup.. Now for the colors.. Elfs should have blond hair.. but I like redheads better.. >_> Also dunno about the costume.. it's always hard to decide on the right color combinations.

This one is not very impressive though.. I grabbed 6 screenshots of my HUnewearl doing this dance, after that I simply started to use the HUne's nody shapes to cover them with the body of my FOne.

Actually the key behind animation is being smart and lazy. You need to find easy ways that consume a very small amount of time while creating the illusion of movement. Anime is the best example.. it has the worst animation ever.. usually somewhere between 2 and 3 frames per second.. while mine is around 10 frames per second...

But yeah.. I am not gonna stop ya from doing so! The best way to stat is simply tracing screenshots or already excisting movies.. after a while you start to get how animation works.

Steampunk practice
NO this is NOT THE commission for Sord, but a bit of practice for designing steampunk stuff (In short: Sord wanted me to make a detailed linework of a steampunk girl). I've already started on the commission for Sord actually :wacko:

Whats this?? Well.. I got my new 500GB harddrive for my laptop on wednessday, and I wanted to do a clean install of MacOSX.. well fine.. installing MacOSX is no problem, quite easy, no errors and I got finally got legal copies of most of the large application like Ofiice 2008 and Adobe Creative Suite CS3.. well it all went quick and fine.. untill...

I had to install Windows in bootcamp again.. and.. ARG! I HATE INSTALLING WINDOWS! for some reason Windows seems to invent new errors each time I try to install it >_> and because I got bored of waiting for the windows installer to load all the files everytime..

I started to sketch a bit with my favorite crappy ballpoint pen on a peace of paper.. and so I ended up drawing a steampunk girl to get me in the mood for Sords commission :wacko: yup.. for some reason I like drawing with a pen.. pencils and erasers are for pussies! :wacko:.. and because the sketch was done before Windows was installed, I did some pencil coloring..

I only fixed some minor lines that crossed each other in photoshop. The colors are not completly right, cause I made a photo of it.

anyway.. here it is, and I'll try to color a background later :o

But very good job on your homework, and the little details on the arms like vacuum tubes and gears, and the fact you used a matchlock gun rather than a flintlock, bolts can be seen on the plating instead of looking streamlined, etc.

i like the one without the background, mainly because it has the older looking brown tint to it, where as the one with the background has more blue to it. I'm guessing you put a color filter on the first one and the second one you didn't?

No.. the first one was shot at night with a lights on, giving it the yellow look, and this one was made with the good blue daylight :wacko:.. the real thing looks tons better.. :P This is why I hate posting traditional stuff on the web, since it never does the piece justice..

Oh yeah.. and if you were wondering.. this is what my sketch looks like for your commission right now.. I dunno how fast you want it.. but today I feel like doing lazy.. since I've already spent halve the day coloring the BG of the other pic. I won't be working on this thing today, so I'll give you a little sneakpeak into the progress..

the lightgrey lines are the outline for the pose of the girl, and the dark lines are gonna fill this in (so the left arm will be transformed in a metal). The good thing about that, is that I won't mess up the proportions while making the mechanical parts, like I did on the practice pic.

The darker lines you see is the sketch.. after I've sketched I will start the clean and even more detailed linework :o

Yay! this is the sketch for Sords steampunk commission.. I think I was able to include everything Sord wanted (Corset, Goggles, Garters, low belt, gun, left robo arm and leg with lots of visible details like gears, screws and pipes).. I like it myself.. the pose, the face and the details really came out better then I expected.

This is still the SKETCH.. the linework will be more detailed, high res and perfected! so if there is any oart you(Sord) don't like, you have to tell me right away!

Yeah.. but it's pretty obvious why the digital one looks better..

The pen(cil) one is sketched with a pen.. so I had to do it all right in one go, since you can't erase a pen.. add to that, that I used a ballpoint.. which has 0 precision. On a tablet you can sketch in several steps. As you can see I first did an overal outline for the body, and started to add the clothes and stuff later, which makes it alot easier to add fancy details!

I keep typing this out then absent-mindedly hitting back or a link or some such. ARGH. Anywho, you did a damn good job for the most part. Great detail on the irises (might as you to do monochrome some time) and you fixed up that hand. The buckles on the corset look almost like they're floating rather than a part of the corset. Probably because on the detailed you gave them thickness (to much I suppose) where as on the undetailed they are flat. Yeah very true.. the corset is more decoration though.. cause a real corset would deform the waiste to Barbie style :wacko: so yeah.. the corset i more lose than tight.. what you see is one flap covering the other flap of the corset.. and yeah I made the buckles to thick..

Overall I am pretty satisfied.. This is also one of the first drawings where the folds in the clothes are NOT random :wacko:

A transy?? :o She was meant to be less femine.. yes.. because she is a mechanic

The jawline?? I dunno I think it's alright that way.. the female skull is not much different from a male skull, which means also females have plenty jaw/chin.. But the jaw looks a bit large, because her head is also tllted a bit.

Adams apple? nah.. though it came out a bit bad, but it's more of a line that defines a part of her throat, but it curves a bit to much on lower part.

Breasts? it's the effect of a corset.. the corset pushes the breasts up (yeah I did some research on corsets with google images. I originally planned to make them more loose, but with a corset thats not very realistic.

The skirt can be hold up by various things.. it's not like you need a belt when wearing a skirt :wacko: the low belt with the gun is more decorative and was also requested by Sord.

The concept is the best part?? to bad the concept is not mine T_T haha.. it's Sord's idea's combined with some research..

The pose.. should be quite natural, since I used real human reference, though the leg part is not completly accurate.

i know you admited this was a flame and so on and so forth, but I've known women with far stronger jawlines, women do actually have an "adam's apple" (though if it shows at all it's usually slight, but it can show,) and I fail to see how the breasts are masculine in proportion, as i can't say I've ever seen a guy who's breast are that round and with a width wider than the torso.

looking at it's shape (http://www.pso-world.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=339) you could make a completely mechanical style automaton of the sucker if you wanted. Some design changes would be pretty obvious, like the blue section that's supposed to be the "mouth" could be an elongated grill similar to that on the helmets of medieval knights (the slotted part that covers the mouth,) the things that come off it's back can be exhaust pipes, etc.

And if you couldn't be arsed to draw the entirety of such a mechanical design, you could always have it shooting out steam which would obscure the mechanical monster.

I rarely ever see steam-punk related art, and it bugs the hell out of me. I love alternate history (which I also rarely seem to find,) and of that steam punk is by far my favorite bit. I want to write something, as I'm a fairly good writer, but I'm horrible with long term writing projects. Thought about doing a bunch of small individual stories within the same steam punk world, but I seem to be getting blocked right from the start on what I want.

There's some in books, and a few games have steam punk influences. There's a free grindy MMO that recently came to the states, Neosteam, that is very clearly steam punk. Movies like Wild Wild West (which you mentioned) have some, the anime Steamboy is pretty much straight steampunk. In the end though, there just really isn't much at all when compared to other genres. So I push it if I can.

So I think this style and the "burn and dodge" one (sounds like a random TimeSplitters arcade mode :lol:) are both good. I'd say it depends on the kind of draw you're wanting to draw.
I'd see this style for cartoony and fantasy related stuff like this mushroom thingy or the ones with the fairies you did. Even for your PSO characters, it would fit quite well.
However, I don't see it working for stuff like the creepy draws, the steampunk girl (if it was colored) or Mouth of Sauron.

It's pretty obvious you didn't use burn or dodge layers, as the place where colors transition to lighter and darker parts is so clearly visible. I personally don't write that off as a good thing, though some people do intend for work to come out that way. For the most part, it looks very... flat and dull. Looks like she's sitting on some mushroom props on a lawn with a nighttime backdrop (a canvas one) behind her and a few cardboard cut out mountains you would expect on a theater stage. It's very hard to tell how far in her stomach is when bent over, the shading just isn't detailed enough, or perhaps the wrinkles are wrong, or both. It looks more like she just doesn't have much of a middle rather than somewhat bent over. The hair looks flat, as if her ear were more floating in front of it rather than her hair wrapped around it. The depth perception on the picture as a whole is just pretty terrible IMO.

Yeah.. it was not really intended to replace my dark coloring style.. it's just that the burn dodge style only works for creepy and dark drawings, and I was never really fond of the cellshaded cartoon style.

Since I wanna improve my drawings, which are lacking quite a bit latlely, I came to the conclusion that one problem with my drawings always is the 'doll' like facial expression..
So here is a little expression training. Drawing a realistic mouth like that is real hard.. same goes for the cheeks.. it feels very unatural at the beginning. But yeah.. this is the result when I DO use reference when drawing :wacko:.. stupid me is to stubborn.. usually.. but if it's for learning new stuff it can be usefull sometimes..

I am quite pleased with the results.. even the coloring is not bad.. (I didn't use burn and dodge layers.. yes this one is quite the same colored as the mushroom one)

Well, regardless, I think the hat looks more like a piece of the background than a hat, and the hair looks like it has been "pasted" over the character.
Other than that, wow at the facial expression. You definately win at realism.

The reason the hair looks horrible, is because I used a very large brush.. since I didn't expect to seriously color this :wacko: and the had was random aswell.. all the focus wen't into the face.. I always love it how some drawings end up being quite good, although I fucked up on alot of parts because of being lazy

Thanks.. yeah.. I think I've nailed down skin and eye shading by now. I am still trying to figure out ways to shade hair without using burn and dodge. The plastic is partly causes by the ligthing I put on the hair. The biggest advantage of NOT using burn and dodge.. is the higher control of color you get.. so thats why I am keeping myself from using it.

As for talent.. no not really. I am very average when it comes to drawing itself, I have no sense of anatomy and perspective. I do have a good sense for colors and color combinations and I have at least 7 years of Photoshop experience.

Thanks :) I agree it's the best looking picture I've ever made. but not my best picture. It's because I never count pictures for which I used reference, since they logicly look alot better than my other works. I do have to add that I only used reference for the shape of the face. All the coloring was done useing my new coloring style (mushroom girl style one) but than in a smoother less painty way. The key to my new coloring style is the control I keep over the all the colors.

Each pose would have to be set up for a team pose though. Anyway.. this is done using my new coloring method I used on smiling Qox and the mushroom girl. Eventhough the sketch for this pic was 200% mediocre, the coloring is actually quite good.. I like the colorfullness of it.. yet it has the CG feel.. without getting to "creepy".. yep.. I am starting to like this style.. and it doesn't even consume the same amount of time :D

Hooray! another real facial expression training! This one was a lot harder.. why? because I couldn't find any good reference of a crying girl.. so most of the expression was done without reference.. so I hope I did it ok :)

Yeah, I have to agree with Sord. The lower part of her face, especially her mouth, isn't that great. Something is off, but I can't point out what.

i think it has something to do with the shading of the face and lip proportion of her right side (left side of the picture)

You are both wrong! I simply messed up the perspective while drawing her eyes. Originaly her head was looking a bit downward, slightly tilted to (for us) left. But the eyes indicate her head is not tilted at all.. :P It was bugging me the whole time as well.. but I figured out the problem after I already did 2 shadings stages.. so I thought.. F*CK it .. I am not gonna change it.

The lip proportion looks a bit weird.. but thats because lips really look weird when someone cries.
