GC: PSO - sales

The circuit city I work at got 4 copies of the game in a month ago, and since then we've sold one of those copies.

So there you go, at least two copies in the US, the one I bought, and whoever bought the other one at circuit city.

Somewhere between lackluster and average. I haven't seen this game on the top 20 chart in sales.

not a great amount of people play this game only ones who most likely have had past expirenece from the dreamcast probably not to many newcomers maybe im wrong. the mall where i live was sold when game first came out.

i couldn't find any exact figures but here's some things to give you a few clues...

it didn't even make top 30 sales in Japan

and it's not mentioned on dengeki either

although the xbox live starter kit is #10 and it includes pso, but still...

and on amazon, it's coming up as number 103 out of all computer and video games and hardware sales.

i know it did start off pretty well. it sold 63,000 copies in its first week of release. ver 2 was #76 for 2001 top jp sales, but no pso in 2002 top sales at all. maybe it's so hard to find exact news and numbers because it didn't do so well and they don't want anyone to know =P

You're just not going to find sales figures for this game anywhere, unless you know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who works for marketing and sales for sega of america.

Some time ago it had sold 130.000 in JP and 60.000 in US. Compared to DC very low US sales. Also they distribute very few units, selling that little the game has been very hard to find.

But GC is a new system and is starting the online stuff, eventually more people will come to PSO.

Maybe the game would actually sell copies if sega would get off their asses and make some fucking ads for it in the US! I've only seen like 3 ads for it in Nintendo Power, and never in my life have I seen a commercial on TV for PSO in english. It makes me mad, because PSO is only being advertised by word of mouth rather than the largest advertising whore of them all - television.

i think its positive that theres not such a big hype around pso - since pso is a rather difficult to master game and needs lots of time to get used to.
and some people who just go after whats in, cool and hyped tend to not have the nerve to invest so much time...

NoobIES is never a bad thing, as long as GC PSO has an audience ST will keep adding content, which will hopefully lure in some more people.

Sintendo has done a horrid job marketing/distributing PSO. The game is only found by word of mouth...that alone has got 60k+ in the US, so think of what it would become with some proper adverting and distributing...

I have heard abysmally bad numbers for this game (US at least) I had heard 40-60,000...

I have no idea about japan. All I know is that sales for Xbox better be real good... otherwise we may never see a PSO EPIII.
