Hey, everyone. It's about time we get this ball rolling. I've actually made a sprite comic to kick this one off, and you can find it in the spoiler box.

Now, I'm not posting the results yet, but I'll explain the new omniscience thing a bit more.

If everyone is on the same part of the track, I'll just post results for everyone. If people got items, you will know that they have one. However, I'm PMing the person about what they managed to snap up. If there's a fork in the path, I'll have separate PMs for each side of the fork. Since there probably are people keeping up with this who aren't playing, I'll post the fork paths publicly a round later.

"Well, this sucks." Said the cat-person. "However, I must maintain my professional front!"

From the side of the track at the start/finish line, Tact continued to be a race announcer of sorts. The crowd cheered wildly as the 7 vehicles shot out of the starting gate. The Wariomobile, in 8th place, was lagging behind. PhotonDrop quickly blasts ahead on her Longboard, out of passing range of just about all of the other racers for now. Just about everyone was trying to pass, but TOH decided to drop back in search of items. OutKast looks back and sees that TOH has picked something up. However, the race is too fast-paced for more than a glance. Looking forward again, OutKast finds an item as well and snaps it up.

Shlig, Talon, Randomness, and Nitro are all just in front of OutKast and jockeying for second place. Randomness notices a weapon and a defensive item on the track, but he can't decide which one to take. He swerves wildly between the two and reaches out for one. However, he can't reach it before Shlig delivers a mighty ramming. This slows them both down significantly and Nitro turns sharply to the side to avoid the careening vehicles. This provides an opportunity for OutKast and Talon to pass Nitro and move into third and second place, respectively. On the way, Talon picks up one of the items that Randomness was trying to decide on.

That would be Talon. Ian lost his eye in Sord's tournament match and then I joked that he should make one-eyed wackos and disapproves.

The racers continue to blast through the desert, leaving a large cloud of sand in their wake. PhotonDrop remains in the lead by means of pure speed. She's decided to take an "Eat my dust!" approach. Randomness attempts to adopt this method, only to be rejected once again. Talon hastily throws a bag of caltrops in Randomness's way. Not wanting to suck any of the caltrops into the engine of his Arwing, he begrudgedly eases up on the throttle. Talon sees that his caltrops were successful and keeps his eyes peeled for another weapon. After a few seconds with no result, he decides to speed up.

Nitro also spends his time looking for weapons. Spying a small object on the track, he leans off of his bike. Taking a cue from any movie stuntman, he is inches away from becoming road pizza. A bead of sweat drips from Nitro's forehead as he slows down and snatches it up. Shlig and TOH both eye Nitro as they zip by. OutKast manages to move up into second place, slightly behind PhotonDrop. He weighs his options and decides to try for an item instead of taking the lead. He reaches up and grabs something off of a rather tall cactus.

PhotonDrop is still cruising along in first place. OutKast has other plans in mind, though, and he pulls out a four-barreled rocket launcher. He steels himself in the small driver's seat, and pulls the trigger. A cloud of smoke shoots out of the back as four missiles streak out towards PhotonDrop. She glances behind her and sees them coming up. She evades the first two by outmaneuvering them. The third one is avoided by jumping over it, leaving the missile to fly in between her and the board. The final missile strikes its target. PhotonDrop wipes out and drops (no pun intended) all the way back to fifth place. OutKast taunts PhotonDrop as he goes by and takes the lead.

Talon makes it up to second place by virtue of speed alone. Shligger manages to pass TOH, but he doesn't find the item he was looking for. TOH, on the other hand, is visited by a passing Lakitu who drops an item into his lap. Randomness passes Nitro and wonders why his opponent isn't doing anything. Oh well, he thinks. He shrugs and picks something up off of the track.

Back at the starting line...
"And Zarode is still having trouble getting his car to start! The audience is getting restless over here...wait, what's this!? A man in a yellow cap and purple overalls has just walked out onto the track with what appears to be a remote control! What's going on here?"

The yellow-and-purple-clad man hits a button on the remote control.

The strange man hits another button on his remote control. The car uses its hidden ejector seat to blast Zarode's remains out onto the track. Then, the vehicle runs over Zarode's body (or at least what's left of it) several times. The wierd man then jumps into the car and drives off. The crowd is speechless after seeing a man slain by his own car.

It's mainly a battle of speed this round, as desert dust clouds give way to flying foliage. Yes, the race has moved into the forest region. The trees are thick, with one clear-cut pathway for the racers to take.

Talon passes OutKast to take the lead as the British racer seems to have fallen asleep at the wheel. Darn time zones! Because of this, OutKast drops back to sixth. Nitro continues to coast along, but this will prove to be dangerous in due time as it will be harder and harder to avoid the trees. Randomness and PhotonDrop both use their speed to take third and second place, respectively. TOH and Shlig decide to look for items for a bit, but neither of them come up with anything.

The racers come up to a fork in the forest path. One seems to lead to a lakeside area and the other just goes deeper into the forest. The competitors must make a decision soon and stick with it.

The term "nerf" comes from the online gaming world of Ultima Online.

At one point in the game, the developers reduced the power of swords in melee combat.

This resulted in players complaining that it was like they were hitting each other with nerf bats, not swords.

From then on, if ever something gets made less worth while than it had been originally, it has been considered a 'nerf'.

heh i played them first in backwards order, GS2 then GS1, i've lost count how many times i've played through that series, probably around 5 or 6 both games closer to 8 for GS2, i have all the summons and best weapons i think for GS2... god i hope they start on GS3 soon

Now that everyone's on the same path again, I can start to post results.

Everyone's cleared the jump into the volcano, and they are now moving into the side of the mountain. It's a standard cave, for everyone who's wondering. The only difference is the copious amounts of lava. TOH takes his time to look for items and finds two. PhotonDrop also tries to look for items and takes one out of the cave wall. Shlig looks for items and picks one up, but he is soon after hit by an explosive shuriken thrown by Randomness. Talon attempts to throw a slab of meat onto OutKast's Myomobile, but OutKast sees it coming and puts a bubble dome above his vehicle. The slab of meat bounces off of the bubble and hits the ground. Various starving, carnivorous cave birds swoop from the ceiling and devour the meat. The bubble dome pops. Randomness laughs as he drives past Shlig and takes second place. Talon snaps his fingers, disappointed, and tries to find an item. He doesn't find anything. OutKast also tries to find an item and fails. The racers feel a rumble as they go on through the volcanic cavern.

The rumbling continues as the racers plow through the volcano. Concerned, everyone speeds up to avoid the danger. TOH deftly flies a paper airplane to Randomness, who catches it and opens it up. The paper reads, "I'm a ninja. You didn't expect this to be normal paper, did you?"

The paper airplane explodes, sending Randomness to the back. TOH rides by, making ninja hand signs that look suspiciously like a certain offensive gesture. Shlig speeds up and passes TOH, taking second place. OutKast looks for an item and finds nothing. Talon looks for items and finds one.

An even louder rumble precedes a large lava flow chasing the racers. Nobody wants to be closest to this natural disaster, so everyone speeds up some more.

The large lava flow begins to speed up. In front of it are the racers, even more scared and desperate to escape. Shlig cruises past OutKast to take the lead. OutKast looks for an item and finds something. TOH is seen holding some strange metal pipe out of the driver's-side window of his car, but he doesn't do anything with it. Talon and Randomness both look for items and find one each. Nitro doesn't find anything.

Randomness swears he can hear some noise from within the lava...a roar?

The racers start to move down a steep incline. Gravity is aiding the lava flow even further in its pursuit of everyone. OutKast takes first place by virtue of sheer speed, while Shlig drops to the back of the pack. TOH takes his sweet, lava-avoiding time looking for an item and grabs one. Nitro moves past Talon into second place, but Randomness makes a Hail Mary lob and throws a rock right in front of Nitro. Being unable to react quickly enough, Nitro hits it and spins out for a bit. Talon pulls a large stalagmite off of the cave floor and wallops Randomness in the side of the head with it, breaking the rock formation and sending him back to third place.

The racers start to move up an incline to leave the volcano, but the lava still manages to follow them. Shlig looks back and sees...eyes? Nah, it can't be.

Once again, I have not forgotten you guys. I had company for dinner and therefore could not post.

The lava flow is getting closer and closer to the racers. Shlig, Nitro, and OutKast have been forced to the back and are the closest ones to the lava flow. TOH pulls out a marshmallow on a skewer, then realizes that his intended target is behind him. He shrugs and puts the marshmallow away. Randomness speeds up and takes the lead. Talon is right behind with a newly-found item.

OutKast, Nitro, and Shlig are all worried at the ever-decreasing distance between them and the lava flow. It gets to within feet of Shlig's rear bumper.
"I don't think so, lava!" Shlig presses a hidden button on his dashboard. He gains incredible speed. Speakers built onto the outside of the vehicle yell out

"BOOOOOOOOST!"
as Shlig gets right back into the thick of things. Nitro, not wanting to die a third time, guns it as well and escapes. He makes a comment about how he didn't wear his red shirt today. That leaves OutKast looking at his watch.
"Three o' clock!? I need my monocle! I'm going to make it to tea time whether this volcano wants me to or not!" He floors the gas pedal only to be surprised when a voice booms out of the magma flow in response to his tea remark.

"O LVA?"

A hulking lava creature emerges from the lava flow, engulfs OutKast, and returns to the depths of the volcano along with the rest of its lava.
The rest of the racers have left the volcano and they notice that the weather has gotten much colder. They seem to be heading towards a large glacier with part of the track cut into it.

[SPOILER-BOX]Everyone is starting to put winter gear on as they hit the slopes for this leg of the race. The snow is coming down and hindering traction, but it's not enough to cause any significant problems. Nitro, still elated that he has survived, slows down for a bit and drops back. Randomness swerves in front of Talon and hits the brakes. Talon drives straight into Randomness, slowing both of them down. Talon is angered. He scoops up a handful of snow and rolls it along the ground at Randomness. The tiny snowball rolls up some more snow and becomes a huge snow boulder. At the same time, TOH tosses his skewered marshmallow out of his window. It rapidly grows into a full-sized StayPuft Marshmallow Man. The snow boulder rolls over Randomness, preventing movement. Then, adding insult to injury, the Marshmallow Man stomps on the snow boulder with Randomness inside. TOH takes some time to look for items and finds one. Shlig takes the lead from some speeding up.[/SPOILER-BOX]

Everyone is speeding through the ice caves at a rate that would put Formula 1 to shame. Shlig remains in first place until TOH pulls ahead and drops an icicle behind him. The icicle quickly grows into a large ice wall in front of Shlig. Shlig is forced to go around the wall, then he swerves into TOH's side for revenge and causes both of them to drop back. Talon takes second place and finds an item, but is hit with an overly-used Koopa shell and is also forced back. Randomness uses the item craziness as a distraction and takes the lead.

The icy conditions get the better of Nitro and he suddenly drives into a huge crevasse. It turns out that he wasn't a red shirt after all; he had a red winter coat on instead. The shock of driving over the ledge gives Nitro a heart attack, and he is impaled by a large icicle when he hits the bottom. Nitro has effectively suffered a triple death and is out of the race.

It attaches to his Arwing and TOH yanks him backwards. At the same time, PhotonDrop pulls out a small trebuchet and fires it at Randomness. This combined assault puts Randomness in last place. He would not go without revenge, however, as Talon had recently thrown a snowman's hat in front of TOH. TOH is forced to slow down and receive a heavy ramming from Randomness. PhotonDrop also pulls out a small, glowing rock from her pocket. She tosses it down to the ground and a column of flame erupts from the ground, hitting Talon. Randomness finds an item.[/SPOILER-BOX]

The competitors are still speeding through the icy glacier. Randomness opens a red box that he found on the track and pulls out a Red Scorpio. He aims it and fires at TOH. The ensuing explosion (he used the special attack) forces TOH to the back.
"Eh, why not?" TOH thinks, and takes his time looking for items while there's nothing to lose. He finds two items. PhotonDrop tosses cooking oil behind her, and Talon throws a bowl of hot nachos in front of Shlig. Shlig avoids the nachos, but he hits the cooking oil and swerves into PhotonDrop. Randomness searches for an item and grabs one while Talon takes the lead.

It's getting warmer again. The icy glacier is starting to turn into a water park. PhotonDrop attaches a small snow plow blade to the front of her hovering longboard. TOH throws a white orb with a red exclamation point a great distance. It was a truly manly heave, and it flies clear of the racers' vision. TOH also throws a bucket of Lego blocks into the air. A barrage of the plastic toys cascades down upon Talon, neatly building a wall in front of him and making him slow down. Talon takes some time looking for items and finds one. Randomness finds nothing. Shlig BOOOOOSTs into second place.

What's that in the distance? It's the finish line! Everyone, full of hope that they will be the victor, speeds up.

My ranking of Tact's games to date:
1-Zombie Survival: Very open-ended, more items than any other game so far, and a slick hidden plot.
2-Adventure-Not as open ended, still plenty of fun, but the twist at the end seemed a little heavy-handed to cause conflict.
3-Race-Just not as engaging, far too many actions end up being "accelerate".

A crack counter-serious team is dispatched to the Rants:No Mans Land to quell recent EDGYNCOOL uprisings. Heavy use of tactics to "clear" threads of hostiles will be employed. You start with a main weapon, a side-arm and limited mags. As you progress you can take weapons that opponents have dropped.

...Well that's a beginning of my idea. I think I play too much Rainbow Six. :clown:

The five remaining racers all gun it as they see the finish line. Suddenly, an earth-shaking rumble catches all of them by surprise. The desert sands seem to be rising up before their eyes. It's a huge figure, but nobody can make out any details from this distance. As they get closer, sand falls off of the behemoth and...


A GIANT ZOMBIE NITRO APPEARS!!



Yes, Nitro is back and he's angry about dying for the past three games. He uses his new power over the sands to create large walls in front of the competitors. Randomness hits one of them and drops back. Everyone else seems to be adept at dodging them. The sand walls stop after Randomness deftly fires ink from a fountain pen into zombie Nitro's eyes. Nitro, even more ticked off, creates a large wave of sand going towards the finish line. PhotonDrop assumes proper surfing posture and rides the wave on her longboard. Shlig, TOH, and Randomness all surf it in their vehicles. Talon doesn't think he can make it on his hover bike. He whips out a kitchen sink, hops in, and rides in that. The wave approaches the finish line. It's going to be close. The judges ready their cameras...

*POOF* *POOF* *FLASH* *FLASH* *POOF* *FLASH*

After about ten minutes of decision, it is declared that TOH is the winner. At the last second, he broke his windshield and leapt through to victory. He receives glory, fame, money, blah blah blah. Everyone else...well, you're still alive. :wacko:
