Try resizing, you have too many colors for the dimensions, makes the file large.
Also the only noticeable drop in quality in the conversion was the loss of transparency, but why were you using gif for an image with that many colors?

Png supports transparency too, and is usually a bit better for large images with a lot of colors.

hence why i normally stick with just the anime name and maybe a characters name as well (my older sigs were crap)
