there is a song called ZARATHUSTRA in the BB sound files which sounds like it belongs in 2001 space odyssey

It's called "Also Sprach Zarathustra", german for "Thus Spoke Zarathustra".

I think I may also have heard of some obscure book by a German dude with the same title. Funny coincidence.

Yeah, he wrote it after he played Xenosaga III, didn't you know?

yeah, classical and romantic music is pretty damn common in video games guys (though baroque usually gets the shaft.) Way to go on taking forever on the obvious :disapprove:

I thought it was kinda funny seeing it in there too, though, I can't imagine where the hell they would have used it.

thats just what i'm curious about, i've never heard it in game, i'm wondering if it is a file left over from beta or alpha stages of development

It might be in a quest or event that none of us played.

Or, you might have gotten it from the S***A***** mod. At the startup screen I mean.

Most likely a quest, but really, I can't think of a fitting place to use it.

TalHex

maybe an episode 4 quest?

Sord

it's probably some remixed version, not exactly like the original

TalHex
Jul 1, 2008, 01:25 PM
probably, but even as a remix i still can't see where it fits into PSO... maybe it was for the original opening sequence of the game instead of the one they use now

Weeaboolits

I listened to it before from the sound folder, it's pretty spot-on, if memory serves.

wouldn't they have to pay certain rights to use an already existing song? why would sega pay for something yet not use it...

Weeaboolits
Jul 1, 2008, 01:40 PM
I'm fairly sure it's a classical score, like Sord said, and as such, no one holds the rights to it, so it's free domain, anyone can use it, you just have to make your own recording of it because you'd have to pay for someones performance of it, but the score itself would be free.

TalHex
Jul 1, 2008, 01:43 PM
still that would mean that sega would have to pay something for it considering someone has to play it, so why didn't they use it? i guess we will never understand sega

TalHex

they probably got a discount when they purchased the music in mass XD

Weeaboolits

They may have done it as an arrangement, in which case it'd be only one person making it. It was just the fanfare too, a low tempo 2 minute track wouldn't be difficult to arrange.

Does anyone actually read Nietzsche, or just the cliff notes in order to reference him?

Does anyone actually read Nietzsche, or just the cliff notes in order to reference him?Or maybe just the title? I only knew the musical score, I only heard of the book today while checking to see if I had the title right.
