Question about PM types and synthing

Im just noticing my 100 armor PM has a Synth Trend of Firearms. Why is that? Shouldnt it say Armor?? Is that going to affect my synths, and if so are there other PM types that are best for making armor?

The synth trend thing really just tells you what kind of weapon the PM uses in battle, for example I have a 100TECH PM with a synth trend of Striking weapons (due to the use of an EX device) and it still has the same synth % as when it was a TECHNIC synth trend.
