Drop rate confusion

Ok if a drop rate is 1/1,000 does that mean 1 out of every 1,000 with drop that item or does it mean that its like a big wheel for example and 1 space is the drop???

Wheel as you put it, dice as many others would say.

1/1000 basically means wheel with 1000 space (or 1000 sided die), and 1 spot is the rare. Land on that spot you get the rare, anything else and you don't.

Put it this way. When I was hunting God/Battle from Hildelts, 1/371, I killed many more than 371 to eventually obtain it.

1/1 = 100 %

1/2 = 50 %

it's a chance of getting the item.
