Sadly, from what I and others have tried, nope. There is no common box, and no way of trading with others on Multi-Mode.

hmm. so you cant drop stuff in-field, have a friend pick it up, get on new char in have friend drop items? I have soo much stuff I could use for my hunter char, but I just have no way of transfering items...

What changes from Story Mode's drop becomes a Trash option in Multi-Mode. Basically, it destroys the items. Really stupid, in my opinion.

There might be a way to trade/transfer items, but I have yet to find a way, so far.

before teh game came out they did say that there would be no way of trading items

Yep, clothes are the only thing you can drop in multi mode, better than nothing I guess! ^_^;
