how do delete a character?

I don't believe you can, it works like PSU does. You can overwrite but not completely delete.

By making a new character and saving it in the slot you want to overwrite?

how about you just delete the save on the memory stick ? than the chara is definietly deleted

Well it looks like the OP wants to remove only one character. Doing what you suggested would remove them all.

I have 2 characters and on my PSP are 2 Saves and 1 Update folder of PS:P
i didn't try but i think each character has its own folder, just need to get the correct one
