Once upon a time, I was a proud (yet addicted) player of DC pso v2, and an even prouder player of a lvl 196 FOmarl. I could see lvl 200! I think I had worked out I would be there in just over 2 weeks, and as far as I knew, I would be the first lvl 200 FOmarl on the european servers (who hadn't cheated mind you)

Anyway, one day I decided to take a break from my exhausting exp'ing and have a quick 30mins messing around online. So I log into a team, and got the typical greeting.

"Wow! Lvl 196!"
FERRETS: "he he, yup."
"Must of taken u ages to get that far!"
FERRETS: "even longer than u would think"
"Shame"

Then he employed some kind of un-holy hack, and FERRETS was eradicated right before my very eyes. I don't think I've ever screamed louder in my life.

So, I bought my own cheating device, and got to lvl200 immediatley. Of course it wasn't the same, all my items were gone, my mag needed rebuilding and all my techniques were gone.

But a year and more has passed now, and im rdy to return to a more casual way of playing again with FERRETS the HUnewearl.

Thing is it seems the servers have been all but abandoned since I gave up, and Im quite bemused by the gamecube version, so if anyone could give me some tips, i'd appreciate it.

Can I play with people playing GC?
Can I trade items from people on the GC?

Nope and Nope. GC servers are different than DC servers.

Getting your lvl maxed out w/cheating doesn't give you a good feeling even if you have tons of rares and a good mag.

Ah, there's that NPC character NOL from one of the ep1 quests, I think the journalist that wants to go down to ragol. Back in the day, people would find a code (notice the lack of the word Hack, here) that would turn all characters in an online game into NOL or some other NPC. Your skin would change, your stats would change, etc. Quite a nasty thing to have happen. Go dust off a dreamcast, and go into oberon at any time of day and just hang out in a game for an hour or two. You're bound to have some numbskull with a name like 33l73 |-|/-X0r pop into your game and NOL you into the stone age. It happened to me five times over the course of a year. >_< I got a madeline once or twice, which was refreshing, I guess. I had to use my backup VMU a lot. >_< "cheating" to keep a backup of my character for when it would inevitably get busted.

What kind of retard gets their jollies off destroying a character that someone has probably put more than 100 hours of their life into? Probably tons more. My timer reads 70 hours and I'm only Level 45... I think.

Is is possible to cheat and make backup files of characters on the GC version? If it can be done I've gota make sure to do it before I ever go online... There seem to be a lot of evil people out there http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif

Okay nubes. The only reason I used NOL was to kick jackasses out of my games. Of course this was in the very late months of V2, so people didn't actually care about their characters.

Give me NOL, must have kick feature http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Or instead of crying about it, you could just quit and find another game. I haven't been online yet, but somehow I think that the option to Quit Game will still be there.

you know, you could ask people to leave yr game instead of 'kicking' them out.

Hmm...well for someone who never got the chance to go online, i guess its times like these you realise that always being offline is not so bad after all.
but yeah, if i were to be online, i would be legit, and i sympathise with anyone who loses a hard-earned character to a destructive cunt.

Well, the worst thing that ever happened to me was a BSOD right after a trade. i forgot to put all my new goodies in my box before I went back to the level. i flipped out when I saw what happened. But I'm legit and I think that hacking in any situation is not acceptable. It takes away from the game and the community suffers from it. I'd be very unhappy if I got the wrong end of a NOL.

soo, you do not count now as very late version 2 anymore? since you probably do not notice, it is very, very late version 2. people that i last saw, even though going to other platforms, still cared about their characters, or they would have created new ones by now, and perhaps, delete their old ones, instead of someone like you forcing them to do so.

let me guess... some of those "jackasses" created the game to begin with, so all games are yours.
that was very nice oblivious of you to make everyones mind up for them...

something else should go here, but it is not worth it anymore... oh, how silly. i forgot. you made up my mind for me.

fool.

For the record, the "jackasses" that were needed to be kicked out of games, were people that would come in the game to NOL us.

Call it fighting fire with fire, in a very strange way. Doesn't quite make it right, but it gives us less of a headache than to have them NOL us.

incognito32

that still gives you the right to decide that "people didn't actually care about their characters". so be it. then why bother NOL/KIREEK/MADELINE/---(too many) others, if you do not care?

if i saw the post whom i quoted prior to 1 week ago, i may have been scantly partial...

FERRETS

It wasn't NOL that got me, I remember occaisionaly seeing "NOL is joining the game, please wait...." and you would be given about 20seconds after he joined to quit, turn off your DC and pray to the lord that you didn't succumb. Lost one of my crap characters to it though, just to see what happened.

and i thought i did not post enough. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

many US and some JP ships have been removed (from dreamcast), since then. as you can see from other posts here, all the stuff you left before, is still present. the ever-loving NOL, frozen screens, resets, character initialize. pretty much the way you left it, just a lot less players. although, i do not think that many NOLers left at all.

i stopped playing not too long ago because i lost a character i grew just a little too attached to.

I didn't NOL to corrupt their characters. I NOLed to kick them out. Just about everyone knows to shut off their Dreamcast or pull their memory card out when you're NOLed.
