I wanted to ask the online community of PSU this question because I am curious to what people have to say about the game.

In my opinion, I love this game mostly because of the sheer large expansive worlds that you can explore and the variety of customization features that you can apply on your character. To me this feature is soooo cool because you basically get the option to personalize your character or characters.

i like throwing level 31+ megid, barta, & zonde at distance
foes and start going "Hwa ha ha ha ha ha"
at them. I love doing that. *joking*

I really like leveling up techs and
hunt for rares in this game.

Character customization.
While not the deepest, it has the aesthetic style I like and plenty of options that make it stand out above most other games with character creation.
There is also the fact that clothing is separate from "armor" so you can maintain your looks (for the most part) without sacrificing stats. Best part is that the in-game world and system allow and explain for this to work through use of technological means.

Also, while not mentioned as one of the poll choices, the gameplay is relatively unique to this franchise's online offerings as far as RPGs go, something that is usually reserved for action games. It shares similarities with Monster Hunter (considered more of an action game than an RPG), and the Tales of Series (although considered more in line of using a fighting game system, there are moves in PSU that look remarkably like techniques and spells used in this series).

All in all, the customization options and gameplay are the features I like most.

Missions is my choice. There isnt much variety between them, but I'm always excited when new ones are released.

You really cant customize your character outside of appearance. You're very limited with weapons (there really aren't that many options... >_>). Everyone practically runs around with the same stuff. And in most cases, you're forced to play the optimal race to have fun at some job types.

The worlds arent that expansive... Ohtoku city is just one big square with doors. Moatoob is the least impressive planet. Parum is boring. I really wish there was more exploration involved. Would also be pretty cool to have NPCs walk around (who says you have to talk to them!?). A Day/Night feature could help out this game too...

The story is bunk. Nuff said.

I find customizing my room tedious sometimes. I could really do without.

I like online mode for it's missions and areas to explore. When you run a mission on a higher rank it presents a challenge and seems different from whatever rank you are on. The areas are fun to explore though they're reused, I still find reruning v1 or v2 missions enjoyeable.

The thing I like the most about PSU is that PSO came before it.

The reason I like PSU was because of the community. I don't know where everyone's problems came from, but I had some good fun while I was on. It was easy to communicate, and I didn't have much of a problem with spammers. (PC/PS2, I played PC)

Also, I did like the character customization. I haven't seen two of the same character except on purpose.

Almost every feature in PSU I enjoy.

I've always liked the sense of community in the game. Communities is what's always kept me to remain playing PSO and PSU, as well as some other smaller online titles.

The character customization is better than almost every other game I've played, and the gameplay itself is more than fun enough. I really like how players can chose to relax and have fun with the gameplay, but you also have options to tweak it to your liking and improve on your tactics + equipment to do better.

The market system I didn't really like much until AoI. I have to say it's very well done now in my opinion.

I tend to use my imagination a lot while going through planets and their missions, so the world itself tends to seem bigger than it really is to me, so I really enjoy that aspect.

I do like the character customization, although people tend to pick the "coolist" cloths and parts, which then becomes generic and boring, but that will always happen. I do with clothing/parts affected your stats though in some way, perhaps altered the way monsters react to you/the way your team works... something.

but other than that, I like the asthetic of the game. I've always been a fan of sci fi more than fantasy, and PSU is one of the only games out there that is fun and colorful and fits what I like to play.

I am also an addict of glow. born in the early 80's I was raised on Tron. glow + virtual worlds = natural high

IMO the gameplay is the best feature of PSU. There's really nothing on the market that can compete with PSU's speed/action, especially in the rpg genre. Most RPG's are slow paced and story driven, where online PSU is basically the polar opposite of that. Loads of fast paced action and YOU CHOOSE if you want to play the story aspect or not, it's not required. The menus/pa system/weapons are all designed to be used in very fast paced environment, and all offer different styles of gameplay.

Also, my second favorite aspect, not listed, is the graphics. It's a shame that the 360 and PS2 players cannot see this game running at max specs. Anyone who has run this game on PC on max resolution and 0 frameskip knows exactly what I'm talking about. It is amazing to see this game moving the way it was intended to be seen. From the movement of the character models to weapon effects, techs, and even enemy designs/animations, this game is unbelievable at max specs, eye candy at it's finest. I'll go as far as saying I have not played a game that can move as fast as PSU with the same level of visual quality.

edit: nm, was gameplay added to the poll lol? or am I just a retard? didn't see it on first glance.

Just...

ATTACK! or Counter.

The gameplay has been something that's been a real selling point for me on this game. I love the combat, I keep coming back everytime. I have a little beef with how hitboxes work and the "physics" but overall I'm very pleased with the final product.

But, what really puts the icing on the cake is the fact that I can make a badass character, and make them do really badass things. I have so many options to choose from, the fact there is a slider for proportion alone is grand enough for me. I can my my parts sit on my CAST differently from my peers, even if we are the same race, I'll still look different. Same goes for my hume.

Another thing too, the chat system is love hate. I miss having channels like other online games, but the party/public has it's merits. Most notebly, chat macros and spam. Something you can't do in other games.

Too much about PSU stands out above the rest, it's why I keep coming back.

I really love the character customization system.
I can make every character unique all the time without having big negative drawback with it.
Ohh and that the clothes doesn´t affect status is really great! I hate rpg, where you can look cool and all but the status sucks and seems pointless to use because it makes the game too hard or something.

Character Customization Features
PSU has one of the best customization systems. Sure, there are things one could add like more African American faces, older women, etc.; but it's a lot better than other places I've tried. And many people that try it after playing WoW or FFXI always make positive comments about it.
Expansive Worlds
OK. I'll give it this one. It isn't big like a free roaming MMO, but it's a step up from PSO. I've been trying PSO lately, and I think being able to go to different planets is something that I really miss about PSU.
Story
Nah. PSU has a boring story. It's unoriginal, and it could barely pass as a bad anime.
Customizing your room
Visit any of my rooms, and you'll see how much effort I put into decorating them. I think it's very neat that we have our space to put personal touches on.
Missions
Reskins, too many dragons. Eh... I think they could have done better.
Gameplay
I have to give this to them. I appreciate that PSU isn't "point and click."

Right, your eyes need a check-up. ;]
Seriously, 2 options are added later.

mine would have to be the Character Customization Features

it's the main thing that keeps me to the game. And the fact that the armor and clothes are not the same like on all other mmo's. i always hated that -_-

Character customization and gameplay.

Making characters and dressing them up are some of the most fun things to do in the game for me. There are so many different clothes/accessories to choose from that PSU has its own fashions and styles (hence the reason we have a PSU Phasion Thread :p). Also, I really like the character models in this game, the art style looks very nice. Overall, the customization options aren't perfect but they're still pretty good.

The gameplay is fun because there are so many options! If you want to be a melee fighter, you can do that. If you like flashy tech explosions, you can do that. If you're a gunner at heart, you can do that too! Or maybe you like guns with some techs thrown in, or techs with some melee thrown in? Whatever your playstyle is, chances are there's a class that suits you. People can switch between classes as often as they like and the game isn't so difficult that you have to have the "perfect combination" of classes to beat a mission. People can play how they want and still have fun. That's what I like about PSU.

PSO still offered a vast variety of missions though, while all taking place on the same world. I do agree with you on your point though. I played PSO again for the most part of last month, and while it was nostalgic acquiring my old gear and playing a game that I haven't touched since DC, the overall feel was sluggish, and I just couldn't get into it as much as I did before.

I don't want for people to take that as another PSU vs PSO comment, both games are great in their own right. I just feel like there are many, many more options of things to do in PSU. I mean there are tons of ways to waste time with this game lol. Grinding, casino, leveling (not just characters, but PAs as well that would drop made in PSO), all that stuff I find enjoyable, and they all offer good variety to the overall PSU gameplay experience. It really makes the user enabled to do whatever they want, however they want. That to me makes an excellent game.

In all honesty, my 1 and only gripe with PSU is the management. It's a great game that had every chance to succeed. It's really just a shame that so many potential players, active playes, and long time players alike have all been turned away from playing this game by horrible management. I can't even imagine how great this game and community would have been if PSU received proper management from the beginning. It truly would have been something incredible.

Ditto. I'm just saying I prefer there to be a lot to do in the game outside of missions. I've been playing BB lately and like it, but I honestly start to zone out somewhere in the middle of the second mission. I don't like comparing them either, but it just seemed easier to make my point about liking PSU's "expansive world" that way.

Gameplay, easily. Shame there are so many reskins and dull missions. I hate the customization, for male fleshies at least. The clothing choices are downright ridiculous.
