You should just watch it... it's not even three hours long and I'd call the time well worth it.
Well, actually, if you want to make any sense of it you might have to review it a few times, so I guess that'd make the view time that much longer.

Yeah, there's only 6 eps, but as mix said, it can get confusing.

There's a manga as well, which is pretty good, in spite of being based on the animu instead of vice versa, but it's by Hajime Ueda so it's awesome (author of my favorite manga).
