View Full Version : FKL Book Review

I recently read a book that I thought deserved a review from me, in FKL.

Frito, Spam, Pepsi, and Moxie go on a quest to save the planet by destroying a piece of cheap jewelry. They meet some friends along the way.

Oh, I should mention the book is Bored of the Rings by the Harvard Lampoon. It is (obviously) a parody on the LotR series.

The book was good and very funny at parts. It is short (~150 pages). It seems like a long advertisement at points (see names posted above).

Ketchup's Suggestion: It's worth it if you can find it (library, friend, buy).

I've actually read Bored of the Rings a while ago and I thought it was pretty funny. Maybe I should read it again.

Silly condiment, FKLites shun the printed word. Oh, except manga and/or Western comics; that's ok.

I read Bored of the Rings years ago. It was funny but a lil short.

You can't get this ignorant if you read.

That reminds me of this:

Never read it though.

What, you're reading the Seventh Tower? I read that years ago. The concept is interesting enough but I really wish they went more into what life in the castle was like.

the Seventh Tower series, while good, is a freaking elementary level book *facepalm*

It pretty much teaches you the colors of the rainbow.

There's that, and you can die if you breathe incorrectly during a long run.

indeed, i'm rereading it, just because its low level reading material doesn't mean i can't enjoy it, does it?

Well...if other people see you reading Seventh Tower, they might point and laugh at you.

TalHex
Aug 22, 2008, 06:50 PM
which is why i read it at home

Tact
Aug 22, 2008, 07:02 PM
It still applies at home, Talon. What if people walk in on you and you're reading a book at a lower level than one at which you could be reading?

TalHex
Aug 22, 2008, 07:03 PM
why would random strangers be walking into my home? my life isn't a freaking legend of zelda game!

Tact
Aug 22, 2008, 08:07 PM
Fine, then, let me rephrase that.

What if your family walks in on you and you're reading something of a lower level than the one at which you could be reading?

TalHex
Aug 22, 2008, 08:48 PM
well i'm an only child and my dad has his own place, so that leaves just my mom who could notice it and she doesn't really care, so no problem there

I never read a book *Seriously* that has less than 400 pages.

Fact. >_>

Tact
Aug 22, 2008, 10:26 PM
We should give Nitro a book with 399 pages, just so we can ruin that claim.

Nitro Vordex
Aug 22, 2008, 10:26 PM
But I wouldn't read it seriously, so ha.

What, would you actually go look in the back of the book to see if it has more than 400 pages?

Nitro Vordex
Aug 22, 2008, 10:35 PM
Yes, I would actually.

Tact
Aug 22, 2008, 10:36 PM
Do blank pages count? I could just place a ton of blank pages randomly throughout the book so it looks like there are 400 pages.

Randomness
Aug 22, 2008, 10:38 PM
Nitro, I'll give you a REALLY good book with more than 400 pages, and when you're at the climax, I'll yank it away from you, tear out the first half, and see if you finish it.

Nitro Vordex
Aug 22, 2008, 10:43 PM
Well, it originally had >400 pages. The story spanned >400 pages, so that means I'd still have read >400.

Sorry. Nice try though.

Sorry. Nice try though.

I'll rip out and burn the second half, then hand you the shorter (page-wise) hardcover version.

Nitro Vordex
Aug 22, 2008, 11:16 PM
Then I'll just prove that I still read >400 pages by finding the same exact book.

Nice try.

Sorry, this book is ancient, historic, and only two copies exist. One hardcover, 300 pages, and paperback, 500 pages.

Aug 22, 2008, 11:19 PM
If it exists, it's on the internets.

I want to see someone read one of those from front-to-back, just to see what their reaction is as the situation abruptly changes over and over again. It would be "Goosebumps: Your Own Acid Trip About _______."
