Story Mission Subplots: Default, then Alternate version?

Now, is it correct that one plays through the new Ambition's End mission on "default"...

*then* one goes back to the Farewell to Mother for a S Rank...

then go BACK to Ambition's End to see the new subplot materials?


Sorry for the odd question. I'm just trying to understand what sequence of missions/Ranks I need to do, to catch all the subplots.

NOTE: I've already gotten the "Lou" Subplot, *previous* to Ambition's End mission's release...
do I have to go through Farewell to Mother again to qualify for the Olson Subplot?
