Gentlemen, welcome to the preliminary outpost of Gluttongloss. This building you see is nothing but a small containment area in preparation to the entombment of the entire dwarf civilization into an underwater glass cube, which will be the project I will undertake as soon as this small amount of building is finished.

She stands proud as a 2 and soon to be 3 story tall building. It's extremely small by even dwarven standards, but still, it has everything one needs. The light gray blocks, as you see, are fortifications with slits carved out into them for marksmen to shoot arrows outside at potential invaders.

And there you see it, in her full glory. We're facing southwards. The western fortification is almost done, and soon enough, archers will be able to take position in order to fire at enemies on the drawbridge. Those two forks around the entry will also be given a ceiling to protect our good archers from the rain and from possible enemy fire being lobbed at them from elsewhere. Notice, in the distance, the floor sections being laid out. Once it's all done, it will become the new barracks for the fortress guard, who will be able to answer any threat on a moment's notice.

Zooming further inside, we have a view of the drawbridge (unfortunately not rendered by the engine) and the moat underneath. The fun thing is that the drawbridge is linked to a spanking new spring-driven mechanism, which will swiftly catapult invaders who have already made their way across, as well as turning the drawbridge into a wall. A little further ahead, down the ramp, is a second drawbridge, hidden on the ground, which will raise inwards to form a second wall and possibly allow the archers in the fortifications some free kills at the closest invaders, in order to lay claim to some easy weapons and armor - or possibly fling them back at the enemy.

This above is a view of the second-floor fortifications, which look towards the drawbridge and offers another position for our marksdwarves. Since the secret drawbridge creates the wall right under this line, the archers have no blind spot. Everything in sight is as good as dead!

And here, a view of the southern end of the fortress, which is also under construction. Once completed, it will become a walled-in and indoors access to the river, from which dwarves will be able to fish and drink at their leisure during any non-winter season. Projects for an underground well are underway at this very moment.

And lastly, an average mining project in the northwestern area. The southeast, past the river, will be channelled out for the glass tomb in the near future. Some of the sections of the project are locked and forbidden to avoid some of the workers picking up stones too far away to be reasonable.

We are proud to announce that this fortress has seen the birth of three masterpieces, one casualty, and a population of forty-five.

But is it sustainable? Find some rich jerks who think that their incredibly expensive house (which required shipping materials) is helping.

Gentlemen, Project Glass Tomb is complete.

The dwarves are in, the tomb is sealed, the building framework removed. They've been lured in by food and booze, and they now lie prisoner of the Glass Tomb. The corners each house three clear glass statues, the walls are green glass windows, at the foot of which are green glass coffins, with the center being taken by nine green glass tables and chairs.

And now, let's pull the lever!

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-01.jpg

The floodgates have opened, and the river pours in!

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-02.jpg

The Xs are stairs, and water starts pouring down the access shaft, sealing it from potential invaders to the building site. Mist surrounds the impromptu waterfall as it fills the cave.

We're past the point of no return! The access tunnel is completely blocked to all but the fastest swimmers!

On the upper floor, standing before the Project, a clear glass statue celebrating the expedition leader and mayor Aban Limulumåm (Construct Goldsoar in our tongue) but mostly known by his moniker "Supaminah", was built in his honor. It was to be his last hurrah (and final insult) to the budding dwarven town he was to entomb. Forever, thanks to a small plaque at the foot of the statue, shall Supaminah be remembered, as "the dwarf who founded Gluttongloss, proud home of The Crystal-Crystal of Crystals, and unsung hero in its infinite glory."

The water makes its way towards the tomb.

Looks like a lone soldier got lost on the way. He quickly catches up to his teammates before the water level gets too high.

The space under the tomb begins to fill up. The actual tomb stands on a single pillar. If it's somehow broken, the whole thing collapses! Below it are those who couldn't make it in time. You go ahead and try to get 100 dwarves to stuff themselves into a tomb willingly. Most had to be wrestled into place.

The dwarves have quickly run out of food and they're getting thirsty! Fighting breaks out among them. In the shuffle, the lever to the floodgates is broken. There's no getting back from this one, no sir!

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-09.jpg

Three dwarves attempt to escape and swim against the current, but they keep getting pushed back towards their doom!

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-10.jpg

The water's filled the lower levels and begins to cover the ceiling of the tomb.

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-11.jpg

And here we go! Project Glass Tomb has come to an end. One dwarf isn't very happy about the success.

http://www.shurikane.com/b/gluttongloss-02-12.jpg

Framed by four corner statues and a gate of three statues over suspended bridge, there lays the tomb, hidden to indiscrete eyes, a wall and deep moat surrounding the construction site. The water is filling up the moat as we speak, and soon there will be no trace of life left in this settlement. The drawbridge has been pulled up at the main outpost. Nothing short of destroying the walls will allow access to the treasures hidden beneath...
