View Full Version : Who here would buy PSO to play it exclusively OFFLINE???

I'm seeing PSOX getting a lot of flak for requiring Live to play offline. So who here would buy PSO and NEVER go online with it?

I mean, I can see about having a problem with not allowing international servers. BUT, I don't really care about that. Back in the DC days I would go play on the Japanese servers sometimes and the people would type in Japanese, and I couldn't understand them anywayz, so it wasn't really an "EXPERIENCE" at all. I play on LIVE with some French speaking people, and frankly, it doesn't make the experience any better. I just can't understand them.

With the prospects of monitoring OFFLINE saves to prevent cheating, I think it is a descent idea.

If you don't have broadband in your area, then you can't go online with your xbox anywayz...

(And I also have Live already so I am good to go for PSOX http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif )

*raises hand* I originally got GC PSO to play multiplayer offline. I have a bunch of friends local, and that's all we did on DC anyways. The only reason I even went online with the GC was because I wanted to play with them over the winter break, and I wanted some mag cells. I wound up finding some great people online, and I'm kind of liking it. BUT, in another month or two, I'm just going to cancel my HL because I just can't justify spending $$ every month on one game that I'm going to spend most of my weekends playing offline multiplayer for free anyways. It's too bad I don't live near some of the people I've met online, because it's a lot more fun to be in a room with friends playing it and whacking each other in the head when they do something stupid. Being home for the break is just lacking that for me, and the online aspect fills it. Once I get back to the dorms, I might even cancel my HL, depending on how much I actually play online.

I got PSO GC for online play, cause I had jsut moved recently before release. I was going to get PSO for X-box for offline play. Can't do that anymore. Even though people rip on the sigle player offlien modes, my freidn with DC V2 started a char lv 1 and leveled him all the way to lv 200, never once going online.

But do you see my point???

All of you guys DID go ONLINE. The game just isn't the same without going online....

I've been playing off-line since V.2 came out. I'm not going to pay a monthly fee for a game. With the cube version I tried to go online and use my free month, but Sega botched the network setup so badly I couldn't connect to their DNS.

Now with the Xbox version requiring a Live account, well, I'm just going to blow my PSO budget on another game instead.

Wow everyone in this room has something very important in common with each other. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I do like the online aspect tho, when I get a modem, and maybe a credit card I'll do it!

The game gets boring very quickly and is mindless offline. I get tired of it quick, so much that I almost never play it unless I'm online.

People say that I am simple and easily amused, and they must be right. I still love PSO offline. Sure I prefer online, but offline only wouldn't bother me. I may have to play offline for a few months soon because I could use the 14 bucks a month elsewhere.

I got all three PSOs originally with offline only play in mind.

I was offline for a while until I was able to pick up a broadband adapter. The guys at Software Etc. liked telling me it had been discontinued so I got PSO with the prospect that I'd never play it online. And offline was fun, having a roommate made it almost as good as being online anyways.

Besides, it's the moral of the matter. You must pay an extra $50 to play a game you bought. Validating it by saying "well, most people would like online anyways" doesn't really work, since "most people" wouldn't even know the FBI is tapping their calls. Nobody still likes it.

I will go online with PSO GC but if i couldnt for what ever reason i would not play it any less, on the DC most of my hours were clocked up offline anyway.

The same can be said about having to buy the GC modem. It goes both ways.

I played both V1 and V2 offline and had great fun with it. What I can't stand are games that are only for play exclusively online.

Not quite -_-. I can play offline all day long withOUT the BB adapter. I understand why I need to have a modem/adapter to play online. But requiring Live for offline doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

I agree. I'll still get the game for offline mode but If I get it and Live is required for offline play, I'll send it back to store to get my money back.

See what happens?

You are so damn sure it will be better, and now you realize its worse.

Since I already have GC and don't feel like paying for an XBOX Live subscription and a PSO Subscription, I'll leave GC PSO as my last PSO Game ever

Games always have bugs, PSO just has a stinking crapload of them. I like the game though, so I'll still play it.

Ontopic though. I did play DC PSO offline only (only because I couldn't get online) and got Davion up to a respectable level before I got sick of it. I only got sick of it because I heard about the GC PSO. I felt that everything I was doing on DC was in vain because I knew I'd never get online, but I did have those 400hrs offline that got me hooked to PSO in all its forms.

BoBoTheOgre, please read the forum rules. Do NOT bump old topics. There wasn't any need to bring this topic back. It is over 2 years old.

heh, yeah I changed it. For some reason I was thinking 2 years, but I typed 2 months lol.

Anyway BoBoTheOgre is new, so its not a big deal unless it becomes a habit http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
