Grrr.. Rare enemies

Whhhy is it so impossibly annoying to find rare enemies? Well, except for the whole.. being rare thing. Just once I'd like to see maybe a Hildetorr, or an Al Rappy, Love Rappy, anything. I do see Nar Lillies quite a lot, though. But that's pretty anticlimatic.
But really, how often do any of you run into those rare enemies? Without the TP trick, I mean. Haha, I have patience, but not THAT kind of patience. I actually sat and tried to do that... I lasted about.. 5, maybe 6 minutes before I Start>Quit Game'ed.
Also, another question that's pretty offtopic, but does the amount of hours you have on a char in any way have any effect on what kinds of items you find? I recall someone telling me that it did, once upon a time on DC v1.

One night I was just playing for EXP on ult forest and I saw an Pal rappy. Then I joined another game 5 minutes later...another Pal Rappy. Weird how I find rare enemies when I'm not looking for them

Well, I don't know, but I was bored today, so I piped in the Fake in Yellow quest on VH, did it about 30 or so times, finally saw an Al Rappy, gave me an Elysion. Now my favorite weapon. Purplenum. Funny thing is, I found a Branch of Pakupaku from a Gigobooma, and I found a Branch of Pakupaku from an Al Rappy the day before that in a "Yellowbloze" game.

Heh. I think that goes with that 'watched pot never boils' metaphor- Every few runs in Ult forest, caves, or temple, I run into some rare monster. Yet if I sit down for a while to do the TP trick, well, let's just say that my longest run without seeing a rare was 473 TP trips, in about four hours of game time.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that I have that much time on my hands to waste, or that I actually keep a count of every TP I take when tricking. Heh heh.

i have seeen most to all of my rare enemies from tp trick. sometimes i find pal in first 5 min of tping but other i tp trick for 45+ and dont find one. i get mad sometimes when i waste like 45 minutes and dont see anything

2 days ago I saw 3 Pal Rappies in the Fake In Yellow quest. 2 of them either got away or dropped nothing and the last one killed me (I accidentally talked to the Doctor guy...and they thorougly kicked my ass for it >_<.) Oh, and the last one was a BIG Pal Rappy...how rare is that!? Grrr...

So, like, I just saw my first Pal Rappy. I was just playing offline Ultimate Mode, levelling up in Forest. And it was just.. there. Naturally, having NEVER seen a rare rappy in two years of playing PSO, I flipped a shit. I decided, "Hey, I'll kill the Rappy last so I'm free to babysit it for the item it drops, and deal with the Bartles first". So I killed the Bartles, and a Hildelt shows up. Killed that, and everything appeared to be alllll clear. So I kill the Rappy, and two seconds later more Bartles show up. And of COURSE as I'm desperately trying to kill the Bartles, the Rappy gets AWAY!!$!(&%(&#%*(#(%*&#(%&#(*%&#(%*&
*HUFF*
I'll just assume it would have dropped something like a monomate, and not that Angel Harp I was expecting. Yeah.. a monomate. That's it.

fret not, that sorta thing happens all the time when you're dealin with rare rappys. Their little buddies usually come in to "make sure" you don't get the item =(. But luckily, Pal Rappys are the easiest to find, thanks to Fake in Yellow. Your chances of encountering one are SO much higher...for obious reasons. Give that a try.

I've probably spent about 50 hours looking for an Al Rappy on Hard and Very Hard mode, trying to get an Inferno Bazooka. (I'm not patient enough to do the TP trick, so I do Forest runs over and over, and Fake in Yellow once in a while).

Today I was doing a Normal run with a level 5 HUcaseal, and of course, I found one.

Dropped a Star Atomizer. I almost cried. x_x;

About that rare rappies getting away, first of all, heres 2 ways u can counter that-

1. If u are a hunter, use a sword, and stay close, it may not work very well, but it will increase your chances im sure..

2. If you are a non android, take a spell such as rafoie and do it when it gets up. Usually helps.

3. If you are a ranger, take a spread type weapon and shoot at all of them. it will increase chances.

I think it helps, 2 ive tried, 1 and 3 im assuming.

I can't fuck with that piping trick. I don't have the patience. However, I DO manage to see quite a few rare enemies. Today I just got a hildeblue head with an Oran ID doing heatsword solo. Hell I've even seen hildeblues in battle mode. I've seen EVERY rare creature excluding a Hildetorr, Santa Rappy, and a Pal Rappy.

I've seen a lot of rare critters in E1&2 in just the three months I've had it. Total count as of this post is 117. I'd say roughly 1/3 of those (I don't know the exact amount) was naturally without using the TP trick. Typically I find most of the natural rare critters when playing multi-player mode (online or offline). I think the reason that happens is because there's typically two to three times as many enemies in multi-player mode compared to offline single-player mode. The only exception is Fake in Yellow, which actually produced two Pal Rappies in one wave of enemies, once. As usual, my advice to anyone is to keep trying. Persistence pays off.

I've seen a ton of rare enemies like 20+. And only 4 of those were by the telepiping trick. The best things I've found were a Guard Wave, Perfect Resist, and Inferno Bazooka. Still haven't seen the Pumpkin Rappy, Santa Rappy, Love Rappy, or a friggin' Mil Lilly. Seen the rest though.

After 4 Pal Rappys and 4 hours (I took someone's suggestion [which I thank you for 10x over, Vitamin D!] and did Fake in Yellow ooover and over and over)... well, not only am I satisfied to have now seen a rare enemy (and 4 of them to boot. Funny how that works out...), I fiiiinnnnalllly got my Angel Harp!! YAYYYY. *dance* ^_____^

It was especially nice after getting spit in the face with a Telepipe and 3 Flame Barriers being dropped, ahaha.

Earlier today I ran into my first rare lilly (offline, V-Hard) and the little bugger dropped me a god mind http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif It was kinda funny, because I was on the phone with my grandma and all of a sudden out of the blue I yell "Wooohooo!!! I found a god/mind!" lol
