I can tell this season is going to be even more frustrating than the last, what with the protagonist's complete unwillingness to grow or change in any humanly perceptible and lasting (more than the last five minutes of the episode) way. Gah.

On the plus side, the season premieres of The Office and Dexter were A+++ quality.

I liked what I saw of Dexter to start with, though I'm unfamiliar with where it's showing. I thought what I saw what more of a "oh hey guys this is some of the stuff we have on shotime" for a few weeks kind of deal, but I'm so out of the TV loop nowadays.

All I'm really checking out/waiting for is new Lost and Pushing Daisies... with an occasional Jeopardy goddamn-remixing-the-goddamn-Jeopardy-music-those goddamn-bastards as free time permits.

First two seasons of Dexter are out on DVD (and, more importantly, online), with the third slated to start Sep--yesterday, though the first episode has been available elsewhere for a while. Hens across the universe give it n*2 thumbs up, where n = the number of hens, anywhere.

In the meantime, I've been working my way through Six Feet Under. I'm only halfway through the second season, but so far the characters are interesting, and the episodes combine humor and drama in good measure.

I hope House can bring back the goodness, because at this point I have little sympathy or patience left for the characters, and the el you el zees have flown the coop. Perhaps it is an attempt to make us feel such strong disgust with an intractable jerk that we, too, push him away. Very avant garde.

House seasons 1 and 2 on DVD is all you will ever need. Of that show.
