Well I'm not sure I'm missing something else in the bigger picture here, but I'm going to point out the irony of a fish eating at least 2 cats in the process of devouring FKL.

Don't worry, it's gonna be like that scene with the giant toad in Pan's Labyrinth.

FKL is a deadly toxin to all known living organisms.

Why? Does the toad explode or something? (I haven't seen the movie, so...tell me.)

I thought the eyelessgrue ogre scene was way more disturbing then the toad. ;|

If the eyeless ogre ate FKL, he would bite it's head off first. The only thing the pale man doesn't eat is shoes!

I'm fairly sure the eyeless thingy was called the Pale Man.
On a side note, I expected more Fantasy and less Reality from Pan's Labyrinth, from the previews. I didn't mind that it was subtitles only.

As did I. I had no idea that the movie even HAD subtitles when I saw it in the theater. My only problem with this was that the subtitles were being broadcast across the curtain underneath the screen, making them unreadable. After some complaints they readjusted em.

I am willing to trade a bit of fantasy for the stark violence of the film, however. Also, I love that they sort of let you make up your own mind whether the 'fantasy' existed at all. It is pretty apparent to me that it is just the sad imagination of a child trying to escape the horrors of war and fascism... but maybe she really was some fairy princess reincarnated.

Who knows... Depends on how much of a realist and/or a pessimist you are, I suppose.

edit: yeah, I also know it involves alot of symbolism. Just saying..

Anyway, back to what consumed FKL
