I don't mean to be picky or anything, but why are the smilies case sensitive in the front? I can understand it being case sensitive in the rest of the code, but why the front? Can't we put :.wacko: and :.Wacko: and still get the same thing?

Minus the period, of course.

I'm not quite sure what you're complaining about here. Could you provide an example?

Why do we have to type in a smilie with all lower case letters? I THINK that's what he's saying. Doesn't work,, with a lower case w, does work.

All emoticons that uses the :word: format are stored in lower-case in the database. When the forum software is parsing a post looking for smilie matches, it should be doing it in a case-sensitive manner. I imagine that would be the case since an emoticon indicator can be denoted by almost any combination of letters and symbols.

It shouldn't be that hard to make it case insensitive, should it?

Let me try explaining this with an example. We could define :wac ko:,, and  to be three completely separate smilies. Each one could have its own unique image file.

With that setup, it makes sense that the smilies are case sensitive. We could go through and create several variations of each :word: variation to point to the same image file. However, I really wouldn't want to do that for 150+ smilies.

But can't you just do that for  ?

Please? :)

Those mixed-case smilies caused me several problems during the forum conversion. I'm not too keen on reintroducing them.

Offer a bribe and I might consider it.

Caek? Oh wait, it's a lie.

Oh F*ck that sad animal commercial's on. The one with the...damn I gotta get outta here.

I know it would be fine if you capitalized it on the old forum software, as I did that frequently. But I guess "those mixed-case smilies caused me several problems during the forum conversion." I'm beating a dead horse, but screw v-bulletin. Though I do compliment your abilities to make the meira-bluegrey as close to the original as possible.

I think I see what Ryna's saying here, and that's a logistical nightmare. I don't think it's a big enough deal to have to go in and do all that, plus it'd just be an unnecessary use of space to store all those separate image files.
