Seasonal lobby
Halloween returns to Gurhal! This seasonal lobby will stick around for three weeks from October 31 through November 20.

New items
Casino Voloyal's exchange counter will have some items added to it. (Specifics aren't given, so this could be the Halloween music disc or just the normal item rotation.)

Oh come on. I am not a person that bawws alot, but this is just ridiculous.
And three weeks halloween, ya? I guess that means three weeks without another update, too. Pah!
(And thanks as always, Esp.)

then it will change to SEED express for a long while, and finally turn into Rogue's shortcut S3. Hopefully, change into new party mission soon.
anyway, I didnt expect anything much from this update, because I thought we wouldn't get anything until 3 Nov at first lol.

At least we'll have the lobby around Halloween. You could always pretend Halloween lasts another 3 weeks by eating candy while playing PSU.

Our last update was the melton shop update.I dont think that was 1 week ago

I talked about semi-update not real update, which mean the server name lol.
I wouldn't count melton update is semi, because it has enough stuff to hunt if not that we prepared everything before hand by knowing material from JP.

By the time carnival rolls around now, ain't nobody gonna be left to care.
Or maybe that was the plan all along.

woohoo no need to resub for another 3 weeks! (or at all)

Oct 28, 2008, 08:27 AM
i´m sure they are gonna use this lobby as an excuse for no carnival for another 3 weeks, and then another 2 for the bi-weekly update thing. That would bring us carnival on December 5th. IF there are no more delays.... :( sad, just sad...

Well, I guess that's another few weeks of PSU-standby, added to the many weeks I've already had, yare yare... If at all, I'm only coming on a hour every 2 or 3 weeks...
Well, I don't expect anything from them anymore, anyway. Imma just play PSO and some other games and wait for my PSØ import.

I wonder what it's like being one of those people who still argues over the mechanics of this game, or who still sits in their room checking shops looking for ways to profit. A little tip for those players: don't waste your emotions.

I'm OK with that.
I'm having an internship from 8, november to 30, november, and while I probably will have the internet, I won't be able to play to PSU.
I was hoping (inb4lolunoob) to get Carnival before that, but now I expect it to come in December just because I'd be pissed to miss it.

Yeah, I'm selfish ; I'll spare you writing a post stating the obvious.

This is incredible.

The population is at an all-time low, and the remaining people's morale is even lower, and they pull out... this. I guess I won't be playing for another few weeks =/

I'm assuming ST really wants to close the servers, there's no other explanation.

Although I've adopted the "better late than never" motto when it comes to PSU, it's still disheartening that couldn't get into the holiday spirit sooner. The Halloween lobby is argueably one of the best themes they set up, makes PSU feel like home. Lol, pumpkin pie Thanksgiving rappys.

I was certain that we wouldn't get the Halloween theme until next week so I'm actually feeling hopeful.
The Carnival is a huge update so if they have problems implementing it there will be a huge empty feeling. Which is whats happening now.
Most events from what I remember have overlapped with seasonal themes so I seriously doubt that we'll get stiffed on updates while the Halloween lobbies are up.

I'm not angry, at the moment, because I'm busy leveling up photon arts on all four of my characters getting them ready for the master types. I'll start to get mad after all of my photon arts on all of my characters are 40 if there are no worthy updates by then.

Obviously, people complaining about PSU lack of update (though I agree they shouldn't have promised an update every two weeks at first place) never experienced Cabal Online's Pay to Play period on EU servers.

You know what, I was doing that for awhile, with the intent of PA capping my gunner...and I was having good fun and all soloing. And then I was like "shit. what if everyone is gone by the time master classes come around...".

That pretty much killed my fun.

I really hope that that so-called "update" they announced at TGS is something good. I'd so hope for a really good expansion, that gives some new gameplay features and more variety of missions. And a decent update schedule, naturally.

Last I heard, it was mainly bringing PSP's story to PSU, with a lot of PSP focused items and such. Whether there's anything else, I don't know.

Actually I had already figured they were either going give us an update this week giving us the Halloween lobby and then not give us another update for three weeks or skip the Halloween lobby and move on to the next update scheduled for the 7th of November. In a way they still will maintain their average of an update every two weeks. We would have gotten an update two weeks in a row then go without an update for three weeks. Starting from the 24 of October and moving to the 21 of November we should have gotten 3 updates (October 24, November 7, and November 21). We will still get the same amount of updates in the same amount of time, it will just happen a little differently (October 24, October 31, and November 21). I am just hoping that we will also get the Bladed Legacy boss box fix with the October 31 update. That would be nice, not holding my breath for it though.

Not intentionally adding fuel to this dispute but
Biggiestyle is correct, I myself have been spotting new players even ones with psu vanilla just starting but with the currect pitch forks and negative players online its not very welcoming and thus the cause of the attrition in new players.. have yourselves to blame.

No, we don't. We may be scaring off new players, but the only reason we're even complaining is that we're getting, quite frankly, a joke of an update. Add that to service and updates that have been sub-par for months (pretty much since the Error 65 MAG problem) and it doesn't paint a pretty picture. It's not our fault PSU is dying, it's Sega's.

For those complaining about what new players or what population what have you done to contribute to the whole PSU experience? Its important to see the bigger picture, your scary off new players and population yourself.

I've told friends about the game IRL, none were interested. In game I've helped out new players (a few months back I gave meseta to some new players who'd just started playing). I've done my share for PSU, as have most other people.

The game is actually fine as it is especailly for newcomers, its like we've been spoiled by seeing what updates JP get constantly, or another analogy one kid sees another kid receives candy, the kid crys and chucks a insane tantrum (baw baw baw). gee you'll get your turn. even tho there are ten post a day about our delayed updates I'm sure sega of america already knows they suck but im pretty sure they are also trying otherwise they would of giving up on any further updates already.

What annoys me more than the complainers are the people who willingly take whatever Sega throws at them. Last week's Bladed Legacy fix didn't work, and there's no mention of it being fixed this week. All we get this week is a lobby (that may as well be late for how close it is to the actual date), one new weapon (which will only drop in one mission, and it sucks anyway), and new Casino items (which I'm willing to bet will be the Hallowe'en music disk and nothing else besides a possible rotation). That is a pathetic amount of content. I would actually RATHER Sega just give us the Bladed Legacy fix than try and pass this off as a quality update.

The game may be fine for newcomers, but a) there's barely any newcomers anyway- I've seen a few, but not enough to rescue the game, plus most will just quit after seeing how sparsely populated the game is, and b) what use is the game being good for newcomers when there'll be no-one else to play it with?

You can't just blindly ignore all the 'I quit' threads and complaints, and pretend nothing is wrong. The game has been in a dire state for the last few months with people quitting every week. Take off the rose-tinted glasses for just a minute and look at the servers before defending Sega to the ends of the earth.

Btw, Halloween lobby is not effect any big event related.
In JP, They got Halloween during 1-Up
They got chrismas during MAG
They got Valentine day and White Day during degeki.
They got Sonic birthday during Darkness event.

We also experience Halloween during 1-UP and Easter Egg during MAG before.

I don't know when will we get the lighting festival, but I do know that you can't just assume it from Halloween period.

back to what people discuss, I think any complain about the game in this forum is really useless. People just feed each other with negative (energy?) post and ruin the game even more than Sega itself. Some people don't care update that much and having fun with the game, but they keep hearing people complain, they might just end up being one of the complainer and then spread over even more. Oh well, I have experience this with two of my friends, who were trying to stay away from this forum because of it. (*cough*aweofshe/ashley*cough*)

To make it constructive. Ask/Find somebody to be a US-JP representative and write a proper JP Email to contact them.
I don't guarantee that this will really work out. but I say it is better than doing nothing, and also, I m very sure that it is much better than complaining here. ..might as well tag it with many account name signature inside the email to make it more weight.

And I thought the last update was bad. This is the first time in the 2 years I've been playing PSU that I don't even want to resubscribe. I haven't logged in for about 3 weeks now...

The Halloween lobby admittedly is my favorite though. If my sub is still up then, I'll probably log in and then just go back to whatever it is I play now.

3 weeks of halloween this is ridiculous halloweens only a day event so it should be like a week or something

Just be glad that the bigwigs at Sega aren't Jewish. If they spend three weeks on a one day holiday like Halloween, they'd end up spending like 6 months on Haunika.

I think any complain about the game in this forum is really useless

Yes and no. Will it get Sega to do anything? Not at all. However, if what you say is true and it spreads negativity and convinces other people to quit playing - then it hastens the death of PSU. It reduces cashflow to Sonic Team, who will invariably shut the game down early to save on the costs of running empty servers. This would hopefully free up the niche they were trying to occupy so that they can get started on the next online Phantasy Star game - if there is one. I'm sure they know the potential is there to make a really good and successful game. Everyone who has played PSO and PSU knows this potential exists. So here's to hoping they outsource the development of the next title and get it fucking right this time.

Regardless of whether or not you still enjoy playing PSU, it's become like a wounded animal. It's writhing in pain and misery, and to continue supporting it is just dragging out it's suffering. Your parents (Sega) doesn't want to spend the money on a vet, and really, by this point it would be like putting a dab of Neosporin on a gushing severed limb. It's over for PSU. Has been for some time. The best thing to do is to just put the poor son of a bitch out of it's misery. Sure you'll miss your old friend, but it's the most humane thing to do. Time to put Ol' Yeller down Travis...
