View Full Version : PC/PS2 How about a World Tour?

Hello everyone,

I been having the idea of a World Tour (event)?
It would be great for getting around the worlds, getting all the lobbies and getting in touch better with some of the people from here or newer players, if we/I can get the word around.

I really don't know how this should really work, so I am hoping to hear some suggestions from you.

This is what I have in mind so far, which isn't much at all.
The event would go over 4 days or once a week.
We would start with the Guardians Colony, than Parum, than Neudaiz and lastly Moatoob.
I thought about creating groups for all ranks.
Groups for C ranks, B ranks, A ranks, and S/S2 rank runs.
If new players would hear about this, C, B or A ranks could help them. Or for people who want to level alts or get all the lobbies with alts.

The best time for doing this would be a Saturday (so doing this World Tour once a week) would be the best idea.

One idea for giving out prices would be, that every group which stays until the end of every planet could get the oppurtunity to take part in a raffle or quiz(for the raffle only the leaders name will be taking in and for the quiz one person out of the group would be chosen to do it), and the group that wins get to share the prizes between eachother.

Thats all the ideas I have for now. If you have any suggestions or improvement ideas or want to help me, or just think this is stupid and won't work or isn't good, please let me know.

It would be admittedly difficulty to pull off unless you made it a movement of sorts. Like say you start out simple with one party. When it gets full you have everyone split into two groups and so on and so fourth.
Start with the easiest missions that lead to a boss on each planet and then on the next round go for more difficult bosses.
You could add a contest on the last round with locked groups and say no scapes but that would be only for those willing to stick it through to the end of that round.

I am in favor of the idea. I was going to host something similar for our new guild members but if you're doing this I can vouch for some if not all of us participating.

Go for it. ^^ I find that not spamming one mission over and over again breathes life into the game, so maybe a few organized world tour events would be fun for some people that are bored out of their minds right now. It's worth a try at least.

Really good idea, this should totally takes place.
I'll vote fro strawberries though, because I'm out of PSU till December, so I won't be able to join if it takes place that month.

An event like this isn't hard, honestly. I've held one before, and a few others have held their own. The only hard part, if you even call it hard, is making it to the end. I remember at every lobby, we would always lose one or two people, yet gain more people in other areas or planets. It's really fun~ Allows you to see things you either have (but haven't seen in a long while), or haven't (there's some people who haven't seen other missions/areas).

It's always a great idea. I've hosted 2 tours already. I did the first one over a year ago, and the second one in between the MAG events.

Thank you for all the positive feedback people =3
I guess I will give this a try.

And to the people who held a World Tour Before, how did you do it?
This would be my first one, so all help is appreciated.

Also, I don't have much to give away on item prices, but there are small things I have and don't need (Frauduke and Bil De Axe Boards for example).

Also, for anybody who wants to join in. Let me know if you would rather start with Parum or the Colony and in which Rank Group you wold like to be in. Groups would be something like this:

C Rank: 1 - 20lv
B Rank: 21 - 40
A Rank: 41 - 70
S Rank: 71 - 90/100
S2 Rank: 91/101 - 140

If this level range doesn't work out that good let me know =3

Something that'd help out is to map out which lobbies you'll be visiting, which missions to do, etc. When I did it, I tried to make it so everything lead to another lobby, and then round trip somehow.

Ok I took the maps from the Gurhal map making project to fill in a possible route. And to make the missions a little more challeging I thought about keeping the groups to only 4 people.

Anyway, here are the routes:
[SPOILER-BOX]

The Pink route is a optional route to take before going on the main one, so Parum becomes a little bit more longer.

The big circles show the end lobbies we all would meet in on the end, and where we would give out the prizes through raffle, quiz or both.

As far as having lower difficulty groups I think you should base that depending on how many participate. If you start out with easier missions that are open then people who are under lvl 100 can join in. Once you have enough people to make a split you can make a...Gold group? Silver group? Something like that.

It would awesome to have a discussion thread open that day to let people know when you start on a new planet so that we can catch up and jump in when we get our errands done ;)

redroses
Nov 3, 2008, 02:54 PM
I am basing all the Ranked groups on how many people will participate.
And as the older missions don't have all to strong monsters, so people with all to high levels shouldn't join the lower ranked missions as that would make things way to easy (thats also the reason why I would like having groups of only 4 people) D=

huh? No, I am suggesting a World Tour, meaning a run through a route of missions on a Planet that brings you to most of the Lobbies/Missions without returning to other Lobbies or going in circles(check the images in the spoiler box).
This would probably take more than 1 hour lol.

I think this is an excellent idea... however, with all the old missions that Sega refuses to rebalance and update, all the high-level veterans will be bored out of their minds with all the easy enemies and crappy drops. =/

I don't quite understand what you mean. I am not doing this to rehash old content, but because I think it is fun. And just because it's old content doesn't mean we shouldn't run these missions anymore. There are some great and pretty missions out there AoI and not AoI. But a lot of people have forgotten about them, because they run to the newest mission released or hang around on White Beast or they find nobody to do the old missions with or they are to easy(because of the low level monsters). And I think there is nothing more fun than running some old and new missions with a couple people, instead doing them solo.
Anyway, if than it's our own fault if we don't run the older content and not that of Segas(well maybe so far as the old missions don't feature high level monsters, but for people who didn't reach that level yet, there shoulld be no reason not to run them.)

I thought a world tour would be every single mission on a planet. This is more like a GBR.

This route I drew on the maps are just a basic idea. It's hard to find a good route that brings you to all the missions and lobbies. With one group, no problem. But with more groups it will be hard to redirect them to different lobbies that you were already and so on, to get to every mission.

As said, this is all just in the making and that's why I am asking for help and ideas. If you can find me a good simple route trough the planets that bring you too all the missions and lobbies, show me.

Stealing Borrowing the mission page from PSUPedia...

Potential Colony and Parum routes. These are the worst since the "branches" don't interconnect at all, which basically means you have to do each one separately and go back to the city from the dead-end lobby.

Colony:
[SPOILER-BOX]http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/479/colonytournj9.png[/SPOILER-BOX]

Parum:
[SPOILER-BOX]http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2701/parumtourzr1.png[/SPOILER-BOX]

Potential Neudiaz route. You'll have to do the Air Pavilion separately since it's a dead-end, but otherwise everything is covered. You return to the city once but "naturally" so it doesn't break the flow of things.

[SPOILER-BOX]

[/SPOILER-BOX]

A potential Moatoob route, misses one lobby (Bladed Legacy might be a bit much for newer players anyway?) You loop through the Underground Lake three times and end up at Casino Voloyal.

I think 'dead-ends' are almost key to making planet transitions. Play to a dead-end or key branching point and then skip to the next planet.

I think we should work it out to be two to three missions per planet at a trip.

One detail is do we want to restrict people from returning to their rooms or should we have that 'break' built in between planets?

Grimhart
Nov 5, 2008, 03:16 PM
For a world tour the most important thing, I think, is to hit each of the lobbies, so whether or not you do all the missions isn't a big deal. I agree that the 'breaks' should come in between planets.

This is definitely something I'd like to take part in if I'm free when you do it. xD

Smidge204
Nov 12, 2008, 10:07 AM
Gonna give this topic a nudge since I'm also interested in it...

I would happily volunteer to lead a group through one of the proposed routes. I usually solo my way to Casino Voloyal in about an hour training bullet arts but I'm sure it'll go much faster with a group (and using proper elements :) )

I'll verify the mission requirements and draft up a schedule for a Moatoob tour.

Edit:
----------------------------
Okay, I ran the tour (C rank, solo) and came up with the following times:

0:09 - Valley of Carnage
0:10 - Mine Defense
0:07 - Rouge's Shortcut *
0:11 - Desert Terror *
0:15 - Desert Goliath *
0:09 - Stolen Weapon *
0:14 - Tunnel Recapture
0:09 - Caves of Ice
0:14 - Awoken Serpent *

Times include boss fights (marked with *). Four boss fights in a row should be an adventure for lower rank players! Too bad you fight the same two bosses twice in a row each. I managed to S rank everything except Rouge's Shortcut and Desert Goliath since I didn't actually play those before and didn't know what I was doing :)

In total that's 1:47 for the tour, not including 2-3 minutes in each lobby. It would probably be quicker with more people but not by much... in fact I'm going to say 2:30 for the whole thing including breaks between missions.

and tell me what Chara you would like to use with level

(maybe if we get enough people together we can make nice balanced groups. and as said, I would like to have groups of 4 people, so it doesn't go to fast =3 )

And Thanks bunches for the times Smidge204! =D But we will be doing more missions than that I hope if I can coordinate it =D

DAMASCUS
Nov 13, 2008, 11:29 AM

I laid out the routes to "touch" all of the lobbies in the smoothest way possible, to eliminate having to teleport back to the city as much as possible. Actually touching all the missions was not something I planned on, but I can modify the routes. Going back to the city is unavoidable at that point, though...

Would it be better to do the "whirlwind tour" first and unlock all the lobbies, then double back and pick off the missions that were skipped?

My only character is Jo and she's a level... 78? Fortegunner. I don't obsess over leveling so I don't keep track.. 78 or 79 by now I think.

Here is a new prototype map of Parum.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p49/redBallon/PSU%20Stuff/Parum-Map-1.jpg

The green route would be the first one. Than return to Holtes City and return to the Underwater Plant going to the second route the Pink one.
After that, back to Holtes City and go the blue route and end the Tour at the Coast which would be nice =3

Depending on how many groups we can get together I don't want to return to lobbies too often as that will get complicated to get that done with all the groups correct.

Will start re-working on Moatoob and Neudaiz now =3

Rust
Nov 13, 2008, 12:45 PM
You could blend green and pink routes together without having to go back to city actually.
After having done Sleeping Warriors, you can go back to Seabed Plant through Plains Overlord and The Mad Beasts.

DAMASCUS
Nov 13, 2008, 12:53 PM
I guess that will be an opening for debate since I would prefer to take a 'break' every few missions to switch planets and then come back around to take another route that is slightly more challenging.

..or we could just stick to one planet until we get some regular world runners?

Smidge204
Nov 13, 2008, 12:54 PM
Well I guess my question now is what's more important: Visiting all the lobbies or playing through all the missions?

There's a different methodology to the planning for each.

Edit: For example, my previous route for Parum laid out on the map amai_berry is using: (Please excuse the cheap MSPaint hackery, not wanting to dwell on this too much!)

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/9784/parumroutegk8.jpg

Three routes cover 100% of field bases without visiting anything twice, but only cover 66% of missions. If you want to cover as many missions as possible, I suggest this route:

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/8268/parumroutebtz5.jpg

But you visit several lobbies twice along the way.

I can agree to that. We could even do a survival mode in the last few levels and also ban any revival/moonies. That could be very fun and challenging way to finish out.

Not only that, it would promote the usage of techers so fortefighters wouldn't go "LOL RAAAEEP" And destroy everything in the party. Heaven forbid people use MOONS, techers SUPPORT, and ultimately those capable of doing so more frequently cast GIRESTA

what about ban trimate/star/sol too?
let people know what is the thing call teamwork! :D
PSU hard mode: Hunter know to dodge, Ranger know to support, Techer know to heal)

Edit: Just an addition idea for real survivor style :
once you die, you can't continue the journey. You have to retire and be in another party called "zombie mode" ( can revive as many times as you want, PSU easy mode)
So the hard mode members, from full group, will keep reducing number. We will see how many people can reach the goal. "Master Of Parum" tittle will be granted to those who clear this special quest

Ok these are the final maps for the routes we will be taken.
And as some asked, S and S2 groups will not be aloud to have Scapedolls and not carry more than 5 Trimates (if thats what they want and this would be an ok idea?).

So to the maps:
Parum:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p49/redBallon/PSU%20Stuff/Parum-Map-2.jpg
The green route is the first one and the pink one is the second route to take.
Green Route: Holtes City - Train Rescue - Underwater Plant - Lab Recovery - Raffon Lake - Crimson Beast - Raffon Field - Sleeping warriors - Raffon Field - Plains Overlord - Raffon Lake - Mad Beast - Underwater Plant - Endrum Remnants - Lake Denes - The Dual Sentinel - Foran Waterfall - Duel in the Ruins - Return to Holtes.

Pink Route: Holtes City - AMF HQ Recovery - AMF Metro Linear - Military Subway - AMF Central Command - Electronic Brain - Paracabana Coast.

Neudaiz:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p49/redBallon/PSU%20Stuff/Neudaiz-Map-1.jpg

Green Route: Ohtoku City - Forested Islands - Shikon Outpost - Rainbow Beast - Agata Island - The Holy Ground - Agata Island - Forest Inflitration - Shikon Outpost - Grove of Fanatics - Shikon Outpost - Hill of Spores - Habirao Old Village - Dancing Birds - Saguraki District - Return to Ohtoku City

Pink Route: Ohtoku City - Mizuraki Defense - Mizuraki Outpost - Moonlight Beast - Agata Island - Eastern Peril - Mizuraki Outpost - Demons Above - Hot Springs - Sakura Blast - Saguraki District - Flowery Pursuit - and than return to the Hot Springs as end lobby

Moatoob:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p49/redBallon/PSU%20Stuff/Moatoob-Map-1.jpg

Green Route: Dagora City - Valley of Carnage - Galenigare Canyon - Mine Defense - Galenigare Tunnels - Desert Goliath - W. Kugu Oasis - Stolen Weapon - Galenigare Tunnels - Rogues Shortcut - W. Kugu Desert - Desert Terror - Galenigare Tunnels - Tunnel Recapture - Northern Continent Vio Tonga - Caves of Ice - Northern Continent Mine - Awoken Serpent - Casino Volyale

I think the "survival mode" aspect completely ruins the original proposal, and is an entirely different event concept. The point of this event was to give players a chance to quickly open up the full content of the game.

A gauntlet event definitely has its own merits, though, but good luck enforcing the item requirements.

This is just an option for the high level players as they are about 60 levels higher than some monsters. And I can fully understand they want some extra challenge. This is not a must for everybody! It's just an option for the high level players.
