I've seen some complaints about this game being a single entry, but I think you are counting sega out too soon. From what I've read, this for example

http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/10/23/famitsu-zeroes-in-on-phantasy-star-weapons-online-play/

The single player mode is also being rumored to played online. This would mean all modes would be played online using a wifi connection, this suggests that sega could be planning some type of system that stores information from your ds.

Am I taking this the wrong way? Why else would solo player mode be online?

I'm not talking about story mode btw- that's obviously offline.

Here's what I think they mean.

It'll be like free mode, except instead of setting you up in a group, it sends you in alone, lkely allowing all of the missions that would be accessible online without having to be with others to play them.

Or, it could be like PSU, where it's an extension of the story mode through online missions.

Or it could be both. /speculation

I can tell you that it is almost guaranteed not to be some type of "expansion".

Ive posted about this numerous times before, but if this game did get some form of expansion, it would be similar to the PSO v.2 disc, the original game with added content. Not some kind of download.
