Looking for volunteers for a PSU Xmas Music Video

I don't usually post here but a few people here may or most likely not remember that I made a PSU Christmas Music Video back in 2006.

I'm including the download link below for those who weren't aware of what I did.

Anyway back on topic, I've been wanting to make another much improved video this year and would like essentially as many volunteers as possible to be in it. I have yet to decide what music/song to use so if you have any idea's what you'd think would be good to use then feel free to let me know but just keep in mind that it must be either Christmas or PSO/PSU related.

The aim would be to get something recorded in every Christmas themed lobby this time around and to get as much clean footage as possible so I have a lot better stock of footage to edit with. I'd also like to get some footage of the Christmas Rappies if possible and will need some Christmas themed PSU screenshots for the ending credits (so feel free to submit some to me if you have good ones that are preferably at 1280x1024 resolution).

Strange the picture appears to be working fine for me and I just double checked that I've allowed hotlinking of my images on pso-world so no idea why you can't see the picture in my opening post. >ashley50

Once the Christmas decorations go up on PSU I'll start arranging meeting times and a lot more details of what I'll require. From the last experience it can take a lot of retakes to get dancing/lobby actions in some degree of sync and sometimes trying to keep people quiet for a few minutes while filming can be a difficult task. The main idea though is to have fun, so the more the merrier and the more people around the more chance their is of capturing some great random moment to use in the video. ^ ^

Didn't really mention in the original post but everyone that is feature in the video will have their username in the credit roll at the end of the video.

Thank you for all the replies so far. I didn't really expect to see much enthusiasm, so I'm very happy with the responce so far. The date and times of the meetings are not yet set mainly because I'm not exactly sure when the christmas decorations will go up but as soon as they are, I will use the 2 following weekends including fridays to arrange meetings for recording sessions. I will possibly also arrange for something in the evenings as well to help anyone who can't make the weekends but I'll only be available between the times of 6pm and 12pm GMT then.

You may turn up dressed however you like but if you'd like to go for a Christmas look then you're more than welcome to do so although try not to make your character too unrecognisable from normal ^ ^.

I'm starting to have my doubts if we will even see Christmas lobbies this year. Seriously why have we got autumn lobbies in winter? So at present I'm undecided about what to do.

I can keep waiting out for the Christmas themed lobbies to "magically" appear and lose having any decent preparation time or I either have to decide to change the theme of the video or just don't bother doing anything which will kind of be a shame since I doubt I'll renew my subscription again once it expires at the end of this year and I don't want to dissapoint people by doing nothing.

So for the moment I'm going to leave this open to your suggestions on how to proceed.

Okay, We finally have the Christmas Lobbies up so I'm going to start arranging this now.

Everything is going to be filmed on Universe 05 - libra

At each location i will be aiming to get everyone to perform all 4 dance moves in sync. I will do a count down from 3 and when you see 1 please start performing the dance in silence until I say stop. Even if it looks like you're out of sync with everyone else please continue to dance as from my experience gained from last time not everyone see's exactly the same. This is mainly to avoid lot's of comments ruining the video (although between takes feel free to chatter away and goof around i'll still be recording mind so be warned as I may include some of this into the video) but I will allow the spamming of the following shortcut:

{red}Merry Christmas!

It must be exactly the same as above but you can add a face to the shortcut if you wish.
For example:

00{red}Merry Christmas!

To clarify the dance moves they will be:

Alt+M (male & female) then Alt+N (male & female)

To use your characters opposite genders moves you must also hold Shift

Please also space you characters out well. If you are short please come towards the front and the taller/bigger characters should head towards the back. don't worry about not being right at the front you will be seen fine. Some shoots I'll be in first person mode and in these cases I can capture a larger area so people can spread out even more then usual.

I will also be taking small groups into a Christmas themed room for additional special footage. If you have any special requests please let me know and I'll try to cater for them!

For the next I'll be heading online at 10pm GMT time and can hang around until 2am GMT lif needed. Please gather at the first floor of the Guardians Colony as early as possbile. I will give out my Partner Card to everyone that turns up to help setup follow up sessions.

If you are online tonight or are attending Arika's Casino Event I'll be hosting the first shoot straight afterwards. You should be able to find me in Universe 09's Casino from 12pm GMT which is half an hour from now.

I hope you all can get involved. I'll post even more details here tomorrow.

I firstly need to thank everyone who helped out for the first video recording session tonight. Sadly it all started off very badly with very few people and took some time to grab randoms and friends of friends to turn up which in turn meant a lot of people didn't initially get what I was trying to do but I have managed to grab some very nice footage.

I will still require even more footage and will be doing the same again tomorrow (21st December @ 10pm GMT - Universe 5 - Guardians Colony Level 1).

For now I'm going to post up a few pictures while I continue to edit the footage I got tonight.

I've been editing/cutting the 2 and a half hours of footage I took last night for the past few hours and so far I have 8 minutes left that require even more cutting to get any half way decent scenes. So I'm estimating I may be able to get 4-5 scenes out of this footage for a total run time of maybe a minute. Main problem is there is just too much spam >_<

Tonight I will have to be more stringent on the amount of talking that will take place during scene's and hopefully we can get people in sync for the different dance motions etc.


It's been cropped down into 720p and I've used a few basic filters for trial purposes. Final quality should be much higher but for this quick teaser sample I wasn't going to use my more time consuming encoding profiles.

I've also pretty much decided on using the song:
All I Want For Christmas by Samantha Mumba

I will be doing so subtle remixing to the song to help fit my scene runtimes so the final song may not be exactly the same.

Although I've now got pretty much enough footage to complete the Music video I will be doing the same again tonight (22nd December) at 10pm GMT for 2 hours (Uni 05 Colony level 1) for anyone who missed out so far. I may also be on much earlier/later depending on how things go today. I have tried to give out my Partner card to everyone who has participated so you may be able tolocate me via most of those people.

Well pretty much thought the same myelf.

Anyway I would like people to submit to me any PSU Christmas Screenshots they have for use in the end credit roll and perhaps a few for the intro. They must be cropped to a 1280x720 resolution with your characters name/UI cropped out although as long as you submit a 1280x1024 image to me then I may be willing to crop it myself. Use of photoshop to enhance your pictures is allowed but please avoid don't add any text to the image for the obvious reason that credits will be scrolling over them.

Just letting everyone know that the final recording sessions were completed last night and would like to thank everyone that took part.

I have over 450gb of raw video captured now (over 6 hours) which means only the very best cuts will be used in the actual video, however I plan to do an outtakes video that depending on my time frames for completion will take place after the main video or in a seperate video altogther.

If you missed out this time around there is a very good chance I'll do similiar next easter.
I'll get back to everyone quite soon with a completed video but for now I'll be awol during it's production.

Just a small update for everyone. Firstly I have to apologise because over the past few days I've been too busy to do any work on the video (Christmas + Family & Friends visits wreaks havoc on project timeframes).

I was hoping to recapture a couple of ruined scenes but since the Christmas themed lobbies are gone now I'll have to make do with a couple of not quite 100% perfect cuts or use alternative scenes I have bouncing around.

Still struggling a little bit on getting the initial introduction of the video to match the audio but I'll be spending most of the rest of today and if needed tomorrow to complete the video.

On a side note this video won't be uploaded to youtube anymore (although it will probably end up on there via some 3rd party without permission). I have however enabled video streaming on my own website and I can host a good quality version for myself where I can control the quality and distrobution of the video.

Anyway shouldn't be too long now :)
