Hello everyone!

Some of you may remember that I like to sew here (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124364&highlight=sew), for those of you whom do remember, I finally got around to sewing this Redria badge onto my girlfriend's satchel for her:

Next, I decided to do something more practical, a pillow.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/Biggabertha/DSCN1025.jpg

I'm kind of REALLY annoyed with how the symbol's turned out - not quite symmetrical and looking a little thin but she loves it nonetheless. For that, I'm very grateful (her pet iguana like it too!!) and pleased that it's helped her out.

A few weeks later... I became a bit more ambitious and with a fabric sale at John Lewis, I bought out all of the Jersey and Cotton Jersey they had (was still kinda expensive..) but I wanted to make something bigger for her! So I made this duvet to match the pillow!

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/Biggabertha/DSCN1020.jpg

I messed up with the measurements though so you might spot that the foot of the duvet has a little bit of red where I ran out of black material - also, I ran out of red thread so you may notice some black thread on the symbol itself!

All in all, I think it took about 10 hours to stitch the pillow together (all by hand) and then about 20 hours to 25 hours for the duvet (all by hand again).

(I can't carry a sewing machine with me to her house, okay?! I know sewing machines make the job go by much faster and makes the stitches a lot stronger/hard wearing but they also pull the fabric a lot. With a soft, supple and synthetic material like jersey or cotton jersey, it'd be easy to overstretch the fabric while running it through with each press of the foot on the sewing machine.

That and I like to be able to just use a backstitch to do all of the stitches.)

All of the red looks a bit shiny...

Hmm... I made this a lot harder than it is though - if I use a machine to do the tight stitches around the edges and plan things out properly, I can cut the time down considerably.

I'm willing to do these as requests at some point if there's a large enough demand for them but I'd prefer to do them to a tight schedule so I actually DO do them, heh.

Trouble is... does anyone here actually trust me with their REAL LIFE address? Or should these kinds of fan work things be kept kind of hush hush in case Sega decides to bring Copyright laws into things?

It should look shiny; they certainly stood out on our outfits. Very nice work, I especially like the satchel.

Thank you everyone for your comments! I really appreciate it!

I'm a Purplenum myself too but it's very difficult to find material that I like that's the right colour purple for the ID.

It's been nearly a year and I still haven't completed all of those embroidered Section IDs I wanted to finish up on.

(So not looking forward to doing Bluefull...)

I would do them if my skills were better. Been a few years since I did any sort of sewing.

n.n; Thanks again!

Updated the first post with a bit more but I'll copy it here in to make it a little easier to read:

You can't get sued unless you make it to sell it for profit. For personal use (or in this case, the use of one particular individual), I doubt they'll sue you for this.

Sega will be pissed that they didn't think of this first, thats it.

If you do make some I would gladly donate to your cause, hah.

Thank you both, I think I'll open up a few request slots after New Years though, I have presents already to make for Christmas (sister's birthday too) but does anyone have any suggestions of things to make?

Handkerchiefs with PSU elemental symbols in the corner (or the middle) was another idea of mine or a pouch for holding dice, counters or MP3 players or something like that with the motif on.

I'm willing to try more complicated things too - clothes are pretty cool to make too but... I'm still learning about how to make them. I tried my HUmar and my Protranser but... ugh... really don't like how they turned out.

Errr...! Anyway! Talking too much! Suggestions anyone?

My birthday is early on in January. If you don't mind making me a Purplenum patch as a belated present, that would make me happy. ^_^

@ AlexCraig: Like this (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/Biggabertha/IMG_0006-4.jpg) one?

@ SStrikerR: an embroidered patch? Much like the ones I did before?

Either way, I'll see what I can do for you two - thanks for your patience in me! (Cool! I already got two requests!!)

AlexCraig

Yeah, like that! Maybe a bit smaller (I would place it on my jacket's sleeve).

biggabertha

Jacket's sleeve? Hmm... that's about two and a half inches or about 6-7cm, right?

Sure, I can work towards that - the one in that picture is a little under four inches.

As of now though, I'd like to lock requests for the time being - at least until I get both SStrikerR's and AlexCraig's ones done first and get their feedback. I may work on these sooner than I think though, I'm fairly bored on the train to and from College everyday and I can't bring a partially made plushy on the train to work on - an embroidery ring's way easier to carry around, set up and put away.

Thanks again for looking and showing an interest!

I was actually thinking somewhat of what you showed Alex right there, that looked pretty cool. Lemme think a bit more and look back at your other work again first though.

Edit: So I decided that I liked what you showed Alex, although I'm not entirely sure where I'd put it yet. (which would determine the size)

I have a patch on the right sleeve of my jacket. A BSA Dragon patrol patch (http://www.southbayscouts.org/T214/images/dragon.jpg). The Purplenum on the other side would look awesome!

I think you should just make those patches! That one turned out awesome!
If I had money I'd order one ^_^
