Noland is special because he is 5'10" and only weighs 116 lbs. Every time I play as him I'm afraid he is going to die of malnutrition.
Kayla is based on girl whom I saw in a dream of a vision. Plus she is the only Newman Fortegunner I have ever seen.
Keighlah is just a Beast. Nothing special about her other than the fact that I have remade her identically three times.
Kailah is the only CAST I have ever made even since PSO. I have fun giving her different themes in terms of dress. Right now she is sporting a Green Lantern motif, even reciting parts of the Oath during boss animations.

All four of mines are based on NPC characters I created for my own D&D campaign, which justify their design and type choice.

My human is one of the few who doesn't look like an animeish youngster and / or a Sephiroth weaboo. Well, he was when I created him ; now I came across a fair share of humans with a square jaw and sideburns.

My newman is short, but I tried to give her a face who doesn't look to loli-ish (the original character is in her early twenties, but she's very short), so no sad anime eyes. Also, she doesn't use TECHs at all (she's FI / AF).

My beast, on the other hand, got all the types using TECHs, 'cept for GT which is reserved to my CAST. Her BG still makes her more likely to use melee attacks despite of her gimped battle stats as a techer class. Her hair color changes with the type of Nano she's using (they turn either white or black when doesn't have any), and it's supposed to mimic the shapechange ability the original character got as a weretiger.

And Rust... well, it's a pedo with a gas mask. I managed to make him look unique in a Rappy Suit thanks to his lolisniffer nose. I also play him for the look over efficiency, using only Gigas Faust or Ascension Gift as a SUV (I sold the several Paradi Cataract I found), and the frying pan / real hand gun combo being his favourite weapons.

I have a foretecher newman "Nicole"which I love but stopped playing after 140. I made karumi to lv my spells and ended up liking her more. She is a reddish pink haired cast. That is a acrotecher. My resta is lv 38, giresta lv 40, reverser lv 40, and my buffs are around 35. I don't see any more acrotechers out there and a cast off all things. That's what makes her so special.

This. I have a backstory that links every one of my PSO and PSU characters (admittedly, I'm still writing it when I get a chance.) I did post it in Fanworks a long time ago, but never continued. Since then, I've been writing additional chapters for it in the form of a fanfic. Whether I actually get around to posting it is another thing- I just like to link my characters together, I guess it makes the game more fun for me (even though I don't actually RP).

Also:
Neith is special because she's been my main Female Cast since PSOGC (HUcaseal back then, now a Fortegunner). She has a lasting appeal to me, and I don't think I'll delete her anytime soon.

Terra is more unique than anything else. Not only is she a Newman Fortefighter/Fighgunner/Acrofighter, she's also come straight from PSO relatively unchanged (HUnewearl on PSOGC).

Shiori is special because she's the first Force I enjoy playing often. I never was a big fan of Forces in PSO.

Let's see. I'm a fairly tall newman with blonde hair and long pigtails. All offense techs maxed. Plus I have 2 servants who do as please.
My Cast servant, ANA isn't allowed to say Cast Supremacy. Only gets let out of his once in awhile, he isn't that deserving to serve this newman. :P
My other servant, a human who I take care of unlike ANA. Never send a bot to do a fleshes' job. Has almost all rifle and shotgun elements maxed. Fairly small, long brown hair, one of the only F human fortegunners out there. Nothing beats a small girl using big guns. Has never multi-classed outside a gunner type.

All 3 fighting styles are under me, unlike some people who never even tried a gunner or force type. To answer the TC about what is special- I try to keep everyone as unique as possible by keeping PA's separate without having 2 of the same. Rising Strike is used by everyone though.

Next, we have Geezer T. Dudeface, my male Beast FF/FI. Infamous for always yelling at younger people about their internet and lasers, using Viagra to keep his heart going, not being able to find his prune juice, and just being old and cranky in general, a lot of my friends find him to be my most humorous character. Oh, and be sure to GET OUTTA HIS HOUSE... which, apparently is located wherever he is... O_o;

In my case, the answer to this question is an extremely long story which I'm actually still in the process of telling. When you're looking at PSOW's Forum list and scroll down to go to FKL or Rants, or Off-Topic and pass by Fan Works and briefly glance the last post is in a topic called Renaissance: Chapter xx? Yeah, that's me.

But, to condense the answer...I suppose what makes him special to me is that I've come to very easily imagine him having a life outside fighting monsters and machines.

Edit: On a side note, with all these other people with stories to tell, I'm surprised I'm all alone in that forum in bringing the fiction. Post people.

The only thing that really makes my characters in any way special, is the storyline behind them. Without getting too involved in it, lets just say that I've concocted a way to bridge the gap between Phantasy Star Classic and Phantasy Star Universe. Neika and NM-3084 are Nei Clones sent to Gurhal under the auspices of the Espers in order to make sure their dark inheritance does not make a return to this world.

However, this time, they were not sent with "Nei Weapons" to defeat the darkness. Unbeknowenst to them, they ARE the Nei weapons of legend crafted into living flesh.

NM-3084 went insane due to the residual genetic memories which were acted upon by the photon phenmoena persent in Gurhal (similar to the maiden's divinations). She plays the "Neifirst" role to Neika - sided with the Illuminus for no other goal than the destruction of everything. Or at least she was. With Hauzer's apparent betrayal of her confidence by favoring Helga, NM took an active role in working behind the scenes to allow the Guardians to topple the Illuminus.

She and Neika are fated to die, confronting each other in the final battle against Dark Force (Dulk Farcis?) NM will separate Neika from the group and kill her. Ethan, upon discovering what happened, will be enraged - but will not kill NM as she desires. In this fashion, he will break the chain of destiny (Rolf killing Neifirst) which NM has been longing to complete. She will attack and try to goad him into fighting, but he will refuse. It is then that she'll hear Neika's voice within her own, the two halves become whole. Free from her insanity, and with the fruits of her actions lain bare before her - she will fight with Ethan and his party to defeat the final darkness. At the climax of the battle, NM will sacrifice herself to deliver the final blow to the Darkness. She will hear the voices of all her sisters, Nei, Neifirst, Rika, NM-2011, Neika, all beckoning her to join them within the Elysdion where her beloved Chaz, Rolf, and all the others are waiting for them. Let's go home.

For Tynselle, in terms of looks, I'll have to say the ensemble that was put together. Also the face. I spent the time coming up with the face that specifically drew the character background from it. Her background is also unique, and the stories of her are posted in the Fan Works. The background is completely unique as I kind of intentionally came up with a story that only someone, that thinks in my kind of tangents, would think of. She also follows my long-time story-writing pattern of a character that breaks all sorts of stereotypes. Another thing, is that when I'm playing her under normal conditions (ie. not concentrating on levelling specific stuff), I typically play to her character style. That is, I inserted her character into a bit of what my character tends to use.

Mufonna is special because her initial aspect was to break two stereotypes at the same time. One of them is emotionally, and that goes into everything I choose, including facial features and choice of clothing. The other is appearance, as I wanted to take two typically disparate features and merge them together. Originally emerged from the idea of making the oxymoron of a tall decently-endowed beast but also falls into loli category based on her choice of looks. Oddly enough, the big thing to tear at both concepts is that her choice of outfitting goes for saccharrine cute and absolutely no over-sexed clothing. Technically. That is, unless you're in the mindset of flowery cute being uber-sexy. The idea is she'd go more towards strawberry shortcake than going swim-suit model.

My third character is more or less going to be special based on character more than anything. From all the character I wrote about, this will make him the 2nd character I used an ancient Egyptian belief system as inspiration for the character. Fortunately, he's incredibly different than the last character I did that with.

My fourth character will be Stints, of which his backstory is detailed within Tynselle's. There will be nothing really special about him, in terms of looks. (Think Sam Elliot) However, I always loved the characterization of the *wannabe*. He's more wannabe cowboy than Tynselle ever will be. He's better at the mannerism, too; but he's obviously a fake. Someone who's pursuing the dream of being like those boys in the past. To me, that *makes* an interesting character. It also helped make Tynselle that much more special. Because she sometimes acts a bit like a wannabe cowgirl based off of someone else's wannabe cowboy character. It's like a 2nd generation wannabe. Tynselle is my first 2nd generation wannabe. There's a special interesting character challenge in trying to have a character that's artificial, twice-over, on purpose and have them wear that obvious trait like a warm coat. So comfortably worn, that even though people can see that trait, they would never consider them a sad-case dreamer, instead they may think that something so entrenched in her character is an endearing part of her. Best way to desribe that combo is to be passionately geniune in portraying your wannabe aspects.

Taren Moric (the tabletop character at least) was born Trisha Talorien, the daughter of a wealthy merchant. In her teenage years she was kidnapped by an assassin's guild who had offered her father a chance at a better business in the past. After years of suffering at the whims of the guild leader she finally escaped and hid at an academy under the guise of a young male student named Taren. THrough the story she develops into a strong fighter and eventually becomes the leader of an ancient and very well-renowned Assassin's guild (one that share the name of our PSU Guild ^_^) and finds her revenge on those who wronged her and her family.

A character taken from the original running of my friend's tabletop game. BIGGIE wasn't really a character.... or the machine's name. Our group had come across a gigantic man-shaped mechanical warrior who was proficient with many types of weapons both ranged and melee. After fighting him, a member of the group reprogrammed him to do good for the world. Not too long after that did the game see it's first introduction of MAGs at "BIGGIE's Mag farm" :P

The son of one of the heroes from the initial run of my friend's game, Eglias' story is a very lonely one. He took to the life of an assassin at an early age along with his twin sister Arra (Autumn will describe her ^_^). As they grew in skill their tale showed the two of them in many strange scenarios beginning with a battle against the elements and ending with both of them becoming the joint rulers of the underworld. The character design is built off of the "Demon" Arc of their story.

Raul was born the Royal Heir to the Throne of the Kingdom of Fiore. However at a tournament for his sister's hand in marriage his parents were tricked and murdered. Fleeing for his life Raul became an indispensable member of the opposing kingdom's court under the guise of the Bard Feste. He travels the world as a jack of all trades, changing his appearance and skill sets as he moves to avoid being located by the men who killed his parents. The character design was built off of Raul's "Bandit" look in which he poses as a Bandit lord by the name of Azul to rob a caravan heading into his kingdom. As He changes types in PSU his clothes, mannerisms, and appearance will change as well.

My new character is named Marivel Slayheim Benedict. The first two names come from Wild ARMS 2. Lookswise I was sort of trying to get her to sort of resemble Sheena from Tales of Symphonia. There is a pic of her in the screenshot thread.

But what makes her special is because she doesn't try too hard to stand out. She just goes with her own preferences and does her thing. In a world full of wannabes, someone who ceases from striving can stand out due to that fact. It allows her real personality to come out, just like the true flavor of food comes out when you aren't burying it in spices.

My main character Calsetes is rather special since he's a Fortefighter who specializes strictly in sabers, twin sabers, and swords, is human, is really a nice guy, and is probably one of the few male humans who can get away with sporting a beret and still look pretty cool (though given the new clothes that came out since I played last, which I've had a chance to see in PSP, he might ditch the beret in exchange for some SPF armor). The only "unique" thing about him is he's got red eyes, but that's mainly because of his background in some stories that I've been planning on writing for a few years' now. Other than that, maybe stuff you can't tell in-game is his torso's nothing but healed scar tissue (again, something from my stories that I really need to get to work writing down).

My other characters are pretty normal (two of which had their names and a bit of their looks taken from an anime series), except for possibly Narau, my female neuman Protranser who uses an axe, a shotgun, a grenade launcher, a laser cannon, and a spear. Still thinking about getting another melee weapon in there, but not sure what.

His name, people laugh at it a lot, but I've written an entire fanfic about him and his super mega awesome adventures. Also, haven't seen anyone similar to his type of armor. he wears the Apollo arms CV, Apollo torso, and boxtos legs CV with the helmet that covers most of the the face and has the big jagged horn. according to the fanfic however, this is his evil form. When he's in his "good" form he wears the cas-yukata with the cast helmet that is really tall that has a blade on the front.

Another character that has a more original name, she plays a large role in the fanfic mentioned above, and I actually created her (she's my 2nd cast) over my male human just because I </3 humans, but my human was rather funny also. His name was Thunder Panda Cake.

She used mostly range-mags and blackhearts, but near the end of her Acrofighter spree started using twin sabers.

My friends always get on my case about my beast being a monster, and being able to switch classes in a heartbeat in accordance with what missions we plan on doing since he's maxed on everything except the master classes. I know other folks probably are in the same situation, but I find it particularly special to me because I get noticed for it a lot.

My Cast is made up of slightly better pixels than everyone elses. Only slightly though. Think of it like the difference between monkey DNA and human DNA. Very similar, but mine is better.

My human once took the inner pocket bits out of his jeans and attached some gloves instead. That made it easier to "touch himself". He's crazy I tell you.

Elle: Named for my nickname and RE Outbreak username. She's my only non-beast.
Stud: I couldn't decide on a male name (some call him Kyle for lols), and he used to be a male version of my main. Not so much anymore because I recently changed him up, but he's my only male character and my tallest character at 6'1.
Libra: Named after my astrological sign, and she's my shortest character at 5'5.

Again, I went with what I wanted for my characters. I didn't care about originality or what others thought.
