1. Dice Battle!
an easy game for lucky player only!!

*special note: if I can have my free time during the event, I might do special Dice battle for some lucky players, anybody that win my dice game will get 4 VP instant. (or 8 VP in fever time)

2. Bodies roulette.
Bodies roulette is the same as normal roulette, but you put your body on bet!! xD
you need to have more than 2 VP to play this.

VP : lose = -2, win color = +2, win zone = +5, win number = +70!! :O

Rule : standard roulettte rule, except the ratio we give is higher!!, and that you can only bet on 1 slot, because you have only 1 body :p

Location : roulette obviously.

3. Blackjack.

VP point : lose = -3, win = +4

In case if we find that you still have some VP remain and get a fever, it will only give you 5 VP more!

Casino Voloyal is the lobby after Awoken Serpent. You obviously need AotI to be there. Standard flight to the casino is 600 Meseta.

I'm certainly interested but I find it awkward that it's scheduled right in the middle of GBR. Do you think it can pull enough people away from that? Especially since it's towards the end when everyone's drop rates would be much higher.

I would also be interested in helping out if there was a big turnout.

Sounds great.

Now to decide whether I'll help on it, or participate to it...

I'd definately spend 80 VP on the full Amorosso Set, since hunting for the items to exchange really isn't my thing, but I know luck is either a diva or a bitch with me, no right balance between both.
So I'm gonna either get to 0 VP in a blink of an eye and not gonna get it back (I have never managed to get a fever at slots, and I honestly don't want to spend all the casino coins I gathered so far), or end up with a shitload of VP...

If I help, I probably can have fun as well anyways, and there is no chance I lose, but none I win either. And... there is no way I wear this horrible Voloyal Set. D:

The only thing that bothers me is the number of people who will participate.
Not like I don't want people to join, but if it turns out you get a massive bunch of participants like it has been with the former Phashion event, that will be much more work for y'all ; there even might be way more people than what you can handle if you aren't enough to host that.

Arika
Dec 8, 2008, 09:15 AM
Good question, rust, *add to FAQ*

I have prepared for that case, that is why I say that you have to wait on queue, I m sure there will be more participate than the staffs to handle,
And because of this, I open normal version of roulette and slot game to be available for all. You can always play them with your own coins. Plus, this is like an social meeting at casino, where you can talk, you can play your own roulette, you can play your own slot, or you can try our mini-game!
So it is just addition of choices, basically. Comparing to fansion show event where most of the people can only spend some sitting and watching(and that one was ..6 hours..), this one is better since you can have some interaction too, and the event is shorter so that people not get bored, and staffs not get too tired.
In conclusion, there is no way to have situation like "more than we can handle" because we don't really need to handle everyone to begin with, we just play as many game as we can within time. (look at how the GM JP event only dice with 1 % of population in casino there, that is the worst event I could image.)

Even thought you might not be able to play mini game all the time as you wanted, you can think of this as higher tier social meeting event.

Awesome. I'll have to get in for some blackjack.

Question though: Why use an imaginary points system? Why not just require everyone to show up with no meseta on them and issue each player a set amount at check in? I'm not saying that your system wouldn't work, I'm just curious how meseta would be a problem.

Anyway, thank you so much for actually doing something in a game with nothing but frustrating failures from a company that does not care about their products. You rule ^_-

This is very good idea!
,but what we think at first is that, if we were doing this, some person might DCed, and come back with new meseta set.
I think that we will need some discuss to see how can we use this method.

first, if we didnt keep tracking record, then we wouldn't know the last VP that he gain before he DC, so he might say higher or lower. (so it mean we still need to keep tracking record, and if we already have tracking record, we don't really need meseta to show anymore)

second, we have to check if that person will be able to run pass the security guard at the door or not.

third, how can you stop players from trading meseta from each other? they can sum VP up into single person and then exchange to big item.

there is something with this "meseta" idea that ticker me, I will think of this thoroughly and may be we might change something about this. anymore idea is welcome if you can fix 3 problems above.

Like Arika said, whether there is imaginary points or a material respresentation of said point, they'll have to keep track of the current score for each person, because there always will be someone to try on 'cheating' their own score. Plus you have no real way to make sure the meseta people is carrying has been fairly won during the event ; you can't have an eye on anyone in the casino to prevent a 'cheater' from going to his room, get a few more mesetas, and come back. Especially since all the staff members will most likely already be more than busy taking care of the games with participants.

So, in that matter, the imaginary system is more convenient. Not saying everyone gonna cheat, heh, but better take that possibility into consideration. After all, people cheated during official events, where they could have measures taken against them, for a crappy medal decoration ; so I don't see how they would even feel bad doing the same on an event hosted by players who don't have any kind of power close to what ST can do with cheaters, not to add most of the prizes offered here are more than decent.

I created an account on there because I like to troll. But I'm not very good at it.

Dec 10, 2008, 01:33 PM
Ok. I was really just curious. From your description of calling everything out and expecting everyone to be honest anyway, I was just thinking meseta might be an easier means on you. I can see how easy it could be to cheat though. Sorry you can't just use casino coins or anything. I'm not trying to push you into using meseta or anything, so please don't get the idea that I'm trying to get you to hand out free money, and then run off with it.

Also, if you're using security guards, couldn't you keep track of people that go in and out of the casino? Like, track their names and their account numbers, so you can disqualify anyone that leaves?

But I also agree with what Rust said. If people are willing to cheat in official events with real penalties, they're going to cheat in this too if they can :/
I was just trying to make a suggestion, but you should go with whatever is easiest and stops the cheaters. Thanks again for this awesome event!

Use the account number for everything. It's unique, doesn't change even if they switch characters, and a person would need more than one account to fake it. It's also publicly viewable so they can't lie about it.

A virtual points system would be ideal since it's much harder to cheat that way. The only hurdle is bookkeeping for the organizers.

Nah, it is alright I knew what you meant,
and we really put the meseta idea into consideration, because it seem good, but there are 3 problems that easy to cheat. I already found the way to prevent the first 2 (we can always check people at the door, and ask people to save/register their coins before go outside, but I couldn't find anyway to prevent players from trading meseta inside the casino. )

I still think of combination between using meseta as material point and using the same tracking method, but still can't think of anyway to work for it yet.

My life sucks and I'm angry that other people aren't suffering too.

Back on topic; It's not clear if this is something that was done before or if this is the first attempt. If this is not the first time, how was this handled before and did it work as planned? Otherwise this is a big blank slate that needs to be filled in.

I do have some experience organizing online events and I'd be interested in helping out if help is needed.

Thank you, PM me if you want to join as volunteer staffs including the better way to contact you than PSOW.

about the event, well, my event always be the new creative one, and I have experience to think ahead for this type of issue. So, no worried. ;-)

However, the fact is that all the event always have problem which come by accident and situational, I will say that this is something unavoidable, and that is the reason why I have to be present there in the event, mainly to control and fix problems. :sleepy:

It is on 19th December, this Friday.

Yes, I don't mind, and really would like you to help me advertise as much as you can. ^^

It is sad that there are still a lot of people in game who never know this, some of them might want to come if they knew. :(

This is a subtopic for anyone who's gonna be attending the Phantasy Star Fever event and would like to know how this game is gonna be played, new to blackjack or not.

Objective:
The goal in phantasy star fever blackjack is to have a hand of cards with a value equal to or below 21 and to have that hand be higher than the hand of the dealer.
You can also win by having 5 cards total and have their value be less than or equal to 21, but the same rules apply to the dealer. If both a player and the dealer have 5 cards and haven't busted, then that player still wins, but everyone else playing loses regardless if they have.

How to play:

The dealer deals two cards to the players one at a time. After the first player receives their cards, they may choose to hit (have another card dealt to them to try for a higher value) or stay (keep their cards as is).
That player may hit as many times as they want until they bust (value of their cards is greater than 21). Once the first player decides to stay, cards are then dealt out to the second player, and this sequence goes on until everyone has their cards.

Once everyone has their cards, the dealer will deal to him/herself. If the value of the dealer's cards is higher than everyone else's, everyone loses. If the dealer busts, everyone wins except for those who busted beforehand. If the value of the dealer's cards is lower than any player's, then that player wins.

Vol Points:
Win = +4VP Lose = -3VP

I apologize for the wall of text, but I had to make the rules as clear as I could to avoid confusion. Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Hope to see y'all at Rust and Barnacleez' card table on Friday!

I have only 1 question.. "Do you lose often??"

barnacleez
Dec 16, 2008, 07:09 AM
If your win/loss ratio is 50:50, then you'll still come out with a positive amount of Vol Points from playing. This really encourages players to keep on playing (for as long as we let you, anyways, 'cuz we wanna give everyone a chance to play if they want to :p).

If you're asking if *I* lose often, I usually do my best not to bust unless alot of people at the card table have 19's or 20's for their hands and I'd lose no matter what with the hand I currently had (15, for example, so I'd try to draw a 5 or 6). Everyone will have a good chance of winning is all I'll say, no worries about that. :D

No, I asked because that if you are good at gambling, I rather play with another host.

barnacleez
Dec 16, 2008, 08:17 AM
Rust and I are gonna switch between assistant and dealer, so that won't be an issue.

Not to mention, this isn't a real deck of cards, it's just the /card macro that we're using, so there's no counting cards and whatever other tricks of the trade there are. There's also no being "good" at blackjack, it's all luck of the draw (or lack thereof)

Rust as a dealer? :D If your char is a loli, you should be careful dealing with Rust, 'cause next second you know, he's right behind you attacking you with a pestle and sucking you over to his dark dark side.~

I have only 1 question.. "Do you lose often??"

None of the games involve any skill, so your chance of losing are entirely probabilistic.

Dice Battle: Both host and player roll a single 6-sided die. Player must roll a higher number than the host to win. I coded a quick application to simulate games of Dice Battle: After 1,000,000 games the chance of winning was stable at 41.5%. This is less than 50% because ties count as losses. If the host rolls a six, the player loses automatically because there is no way to beat that.

Roulette: The game table is a variant of the French style roulette wheel (No Double-Zero) - 36 numbered spaces (16 Black, 16 Red) plus a Green 0 number for 37 total possibilities. Bets are Black/Red (Green = Loss), Zone (1-12, 13-24, 25-26 - Green = Loss) and Any Number.

Win probabilities are therefore: Red/Black: 48.65%, Zone: 32.43%, Number: 2.70%

BlackJack: The only game that has even the slightest hint of skill, although with the simplified rules it's only a matter of decided when to stop playing. The objective, of course, is to get closer to a total of 21 than the host without going over - numbered cards are worth their face value, face cards are worth 10, and aces are worth either 1 or 11 (player's choice).

If the host is obligated to take additional cards if his total is under 17.

Additionally, the deck in the game is considered "infinite" and the odds of a single card appearing do not change despite what has already been dealt. (Unlike real casino blackjack where the deck of cards is finite)

Because of the choice the player has and the the "infinite deck" issue, I can't even begin to calculate the odds of winning. Sorry you're on your own! I can tell you, though, that the odds of getting Blackjack (21 in the first two cards) is 1.65% - that's 1.65% chance of winning or losing right off the bat.

Please stay on topic, folks, this isn't a PedoDiscussion thread.

Oh yeah, Barn, maybe you should add what Smidge said in his last post regarding cards value.
Since the random card generator is displaying 11, 12 and such on face cards, people might get confused. Faces are all worth 10. And like Smidge said, Ace is either 1 or 11 (your choice).
If Joker is drawn, it will discarded and another card drawn instead.

I'm sure the players had fun but Me and Zero felt like killing ourselves when we had 500 people coming to play ONLY roulette and said "Hosts" with the exception of a few were just greeters and shouted things..

The community has trouble appreciating anything, as I learned from hosting my last event as well.

Hell, there was even this person on there that I won't mention the name of when I was announcing "Just hold tight, everyone! The database will be working real soon, go register and get all set up so you can enjoy yourself tonight and perhaps snag a couple of really nice prizes!"

She goes

"O like psycho wand?"

Not really, actually, I could have went on for a few more hours without a problem if Arika didn't have told me to stop.

I just wish I could have been faster to conclude each round.

It was pretty crowded at the beginning, but the queue diminished drastically after about 20 mins because most didn't have the patience to wait, especially since the table was all silent (party chat) so they didn't know what was going on. Not to add I was pretty focused on the party chat, so I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on around the table during a round (I wasn't going to take the risk of interrupting the game only to notice it was only mindless spamming).

I just explained the rules to the whole crowd before I started my first round, then after I never had to repeat myself. Some people had questions after rounds, so I've been a bit slow at making new parties because I was answering them (legitimate questions, no trolling). Also, entering the IDs on the site everytime was fucking long, since I didn't have to do it while I was dealing the cards.

I ended up taking five people at my table instead of four at some times, and actually I made consecutive rounds with the same people during the last hour 'cause nobody but the "regulars" were stopping by my table.
But I noticed the huge mess on the roulette and dice battle with yelling people, yeah...
