See, they were going to take down the server for kicks, and call it a maintenance, but they forgot how to shut off the log in screen and just went and ate a dounut. =X

some news i just called their "tech support" help line...whatever...
heres my questions and their answers: (i called twice in a row, in case i got different answers, but they were both the same..)

Q: is the character corruption problem fixed yet?
A:they did do a server maintenence today trying to fix it. its inconclusive right now if it fixed the problem....

Q:why was it possible for people to connect when the maintenence was happenening? usually thats not possible.
A:im not sure, thats kind of strange that they could connect. usually you arent able to..

Q:so did they do a maintenece or no? maybe there was a date/time screw-up?
A:it says here, that they did do one.

Q:so how can i know if the problem is fixed? is there someone else i can speak with, or is it just a wait and see thing?
A:unfortunately, its a wait and see thing...or you could just try and log on and see what happens.
MY REPLY: no thats okay, i dont need to lose all those hours i put into my characters.
HIS REPLY:thank you for calling sega.

inconclusive! thumbs up!

Cool, nice to know that they realize that this is a problem and are avidly working on fixing it. I hope this update worked, I really miss going online but I would miss my characters even more should I lose them.

See this really scares me man.We pay 9 bucks a month to go online and they can't even give us a straight answer whether or not our characters will get corrupted. This is not fair

Someone from IGN said that the save process is a bit shorter, but I can't confirm anything... I guess I'll make a dummy memory card and go on that.

I just got corrupted recently, too. I hope you all know you can save your guild cards simply by manually deleting your character data on the GC's front menu. Then you can go on nagging you buds for extra items.

(The reason I corrupted was because one of my duping runs went kinda sour. (Yes, I CAN dupe, but I can only do like 3 items at a time now, :/))

Yeah, exactly, cuz you people don't wanna hear it. Being corrupted gives me EVEN MORE reason to do it now.

well, i went on and i didnt corrupt...played for about an hour and a half...at any rate, my HL runs out tomorrow, and i have no $ to put into my credit card...hopefully when i get to it the problem will be fixed...
everyone should call sega and complain, it might speed things up a bit...be courteous though if/when you call..no one listens to angry hysterical people..

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all if dupers get corrupted. Other people, yes. I got sick of waiting and played online last night. No problems.

OMG, who in the hell would ever admit they dupe? It's like asking someone to throw tomatoes at you! <<throws tomatoes>>

who cares if anybody dupes? its not like the whole duping situation is being made worse by one extra person. PSO has been like that for ages now...
