PSU fails completely offline.

When Sega saw how PSU was falling behind by itself, they created Aotl and resurrected some features of PSO.

PSU still has a lower rating than PSO.

The sentiment of PSO Vampire Resurrection has actually been immortalized. I'm as surprised as you are.

I'd watch out for that FOnewm. With muscles like that and his afro, it's no surprise he can combat aircraft.

Well, I can hardly bring myself to call upon either as being better than the other, but I'll try to describe my opinion.
I've played PSO for years, and PSU since launch roughly. (I suppose that can be called years as well)
Both games have taken up too much time out of my life. With that said, I've obviously enjoyed both of them very much.

However, I'll say I like certain aspects of both games over each other. For PSO, I loved the story, art, hunting items, and overall character progression. I liked being able to customize stats to an extent with mags and materials. To this day, I still miss some of the old pals, events, and good times I had on the game. What I hated about the game though, was the poor customer support, in game support (hacking was almost always rampant), and losing my characters to FSOD/BSOD corruption...over and over again.

PSU however, is a bit different for me. I liked the story somewhat, but only after episode 1. I thought episode 1 was just horrid, except for the cutscene quality. PSU though I'll say, certainly improved on the gameplay a lot for me in some ways. The gameplay is just overall so much more fun. It truly feels like an engaging dungeon slasher. Being able to change classes on your character is nice as well. Putting that aside though, I think the main problem that has held the game back to me is once again, poor customer support (although I think it's been better than PSO was in many ways).

So in essence, still love PSO for reflecting back on old times, and it will always have great replayability for the offline story and character raising, but I have to say I've probably had more fun overall with PSU in a shorter timeframe. I just wish it had a decent offline mode.

Aspects of PSU I enjoy:

Improved combat.
Rooms and decos.
Player shops.
Photon Arts.

PSO:

Story.
Weapons (Seriously, most everything in PSU is a reskin of another or just ugly. There's not a lot of really "unique" weaponry like in PSO.)
Being able to cast with a saber and melee with a rod.
Rati.
Amazing offline.
Continued updates and FSOD prevention. (Private server ftw.)

Oh yeah, less tossers on PSO.

Alnet: PSO keeps getting brought back because it worked. :p

Oh my god isisnt this like 100th PSO vs PSU forum? seriously, bpth games are great why do we Need to compare them? but anyway i Like PSU because of this features:
improved Combat system
Player shops
New weapon types (twin sabers and fist)
Phonton arts
Actaully lving techs and arts to add some reply value even though grinding is never fun
Better Character costomization options to choose clothes and match a few although some might not like it i actaully do.XDand decent story mode despite the poorly made cutscenes
Weapon based dual weilding
PSO: weapons (even though All of them play the same as each other) anime artstyle (i dont like the outfits though)
Photon blast
Time based battle system
Intersting offline mode (even though to me was pretty dull and only botherd playing it once)
Better offline side quest
awesome Soundtrack
tougher enemies (especailly Ep2) and Original bosses (exculding the Sil dragon and Vol opt ver 2)
but to me atleast nethier games are both better then the other.

Alnet: PSO keeps getting brought back because it worked. :p
Oh, there's no denying that. ;3

But it's headed down a slippery slope, like how you can't keep Dracula dead or you can't clean all the algae out of my aquarium, or you can't get people to stop screaming it's OVER 9000, or something else that refuses to pass away with the quiet dignity it deserves...

... actually, I wouldn't mind if Dracula came back again, though. >_> And neither would you!! I see you there, with your Belmont!!!

They pretty much do, when you were using rare double sabers did they feel any different then any other dbl saber in pso? not to me, each felt the same with a different look and special attack.

Dude Koji1m1, in PSU the double sabers are q-tips...

Anyways, I like PSU, it would be better than PSO if and only if these were added:

Offline Multi-player
Better Bosses
Non-shitty looking clothes
Updates? Yeah right...
If it brought back the timed attack system instead of mashing the square and triangle buttons
Way more original weapons, you can't live up to your predecessor if your weapons are teh ghey...

adding to the list:

give me a better sound track
give me back mags (and not the crappy excuse for what we have now)
Actually make some missions that aren't as impersonal as hell
cast techniques without having to use rods and such
completely add in Ragol (i mean come on! if you are going to add this many references to PSO just put the whole damn game in)
Add campaign to improve the number of people playing
Add things like piercings
Challenge mode
Offline mode that doesn't completely suck
memory card/harddisk side saving, its a pain in the ass to have the characters saved serverside
