Quick question: Guilds?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but....

Well so I was hanging out at 4th floor Clyez city, when some dude was like trying to get me into his guild. I decided to refuse the offer (in a polite manner of course!).

What confused me was that I thought there were no guilds in PSU unlike PSO.
No, I don't consider Guild Cards "guilds" - they are just Friend Cards to me.
Unless I'm missing something.

Or is it an outside the game kind of guild?

There are guilds in the game, but the game didn't include any guild specific support. You won't find any special guild supporting features unfortunately, so guilds tend to use off-game resources such as websites, chat clients, etc.

Most guilds are just a bunch of people who do runs mostly with just each other and might have little events and etc.
