View Full Version : Phantasy Star Zero: The ''Rares'' Database! [BIG Update partly posted!]

Welcome to this thread!

If you are reading this, then you must be interested in all the rare things that appear in Phantasy Star Zero; this could be some item(s), enemy part(s), and/or even monster(s).

But before we move on, I must warn you, this thread contains spoilers! So if you're the type of person who doesn't want to know any spoilers, you shouldn't be reading this. BUT! Fear not, for if you're just here to look up a certain item, I'm sure you can help yourself using the search function of your browser (CTRL+F) and you will most likely avoid most (if not all) spoilers you would not like to have...! However, I think that if you're curious for any rare item(s), enemy part(s), and/or even monster(s) you wouldn't mind some spoilers anyway, since you're actually looking for some!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that said, I'd like to explain how this thread works. I have seperated this thread in three different categories:

- Items
- Enemy Parts
- Monster Encounters

And as if you couldn't guess, each part describes the details of the subject it's dedicated to. Some of you might wonder why I haven't added the Enemy Parts section to the Items section, but that's simply because I personally think they deserve a seperate section.

The whole ''Items'' section will cover weapons, armour, mags and mag cells, and materials and other Misc. stuff which is considered the be ''rare'' (more on that later on).

''Enemy Parts'' is self-explainable I guess. However, in this section I will also try to explain what they can be used for, and in the case of it being built into a weapon/other item I'll list the method and/or fee it requires.

''Monster Encounters'' is actually split up in two sub-sections. The first being encounters in which the special music appears, and the second in which no extra music appears, but these monsters are also very unlikely to run into (in comparison to their ''normal'' counterpart).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now with those things explained, here's the final piece of information before the actual list begins...! In order to make this list complete, I'll need YOUR help!

How you can do this is quite simple; Simply post here/PM/e-mail me with anything that you found/encountered and which is ''rare'' (more on that later on) which isn't already on the list. It'd be helpful if you added the Japanese name (and if possible the english translation), a (short) description of the item/monster, if possible a screenshot, the amount of stars the rarity is, the location, and the difficulty you were playing as you encountered the item/enemy. Your contributions are GREATLY appreciated, and you will be given credit for contributing respectively. So please don't hesitate on expanding the list! That is, if your information is useful of course.

Which brings us to the critical defination of a ''rare'' as a whole. Personally, I consider something to be ''rare'' when any (or a combination of) the following applies to the item/monster:

- It came in a ''red box'' (in case of items)
- It has 6 stars in its rarity value (in case of items)
- If it has less than 6 stars in its rarity value it is VERY unlikely to be dropped (and no, a Scape Doll isn't considered to be rare for this guide's purposes)
- It is ANY enemy part which isn't already listed here
- In the case of a rare monster, its a somewhat different version of an already encountered monster. Special music can appear, but it doesn't have to. (a monster I consider ''rare'' is a red Yeti/Snowman creature in the snow forest for example. However, the different coloured ''air surfing robots'' are not considered rare, even though one colour appears more as the other).

So there you have it. Please help me to make this a useful list for certain items and monsters, as I'm sure it will be of great use to a wide number of players. So once again, feel free to contact me in any way if you have anything to update the list with!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But now, the actual list! (Note that names with '' are actually names I have dubbed it until I know the actual name)

Items (NOT Enemy parts)

Saber types.

Saber type weapons are the basic ’’blade’’ weapons in the game. They are wielded in a single hand. Forms and shapes vary greatly, but all Saber type weapons hold true to the basics of the weapon class. A three slashing combo can be performed with these weapons; the first slash is downwards, the second slash is horizontal starting from the user’s left side, and the final slash is a curling slash starting from the upper back of the user. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Saber type weapons can be equipped by all classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes.

Every Saber type weapon has the option to have one out of two Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Saber type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The two Photon Arts that are confirmed with Saber types are:

- Japanese name: ワオースライド
- English name: ’’Flurry’’ (?)
- PP Cost: 15
- Attack Value: 125%
- Accuracy: 100%
- Description: The user frantically slashes the blade multiple times horizontal, finishing off with a final downward vertical strike.

- Japanese name: クロスレイブ
- English name: ’’Pressured Slash’’ (?)
- PP Cost: 13
- Attack Value: 160%
- Accuracy: 120%
- Description: The user jumps up, slashing the blade twice with increased pressure and power, and lands down using a somersault.

Sword types.

Sword types are what the name implies: huge bladed weapons which are wielded in two hands. All Sword type weapons have the same structure, with that being a not too big handle which is grasped by both hands and a very long and broad blade is connected to the handle which is held backwards from the wielder. A three swinging combo can be performed with these weapons; the first swing is in a curve downwards from above, the second swing is horizontal starting from the user’s left side and almost covers a 360 degrees area, and the final swing is a vertical curving swing which starts from the bottom and ends at the back of the user. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Sword type weapons can only be equipped Hunter classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes, or can be equipped by all classes.

Every Sword type weapon has the option to have one out of three Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Sword type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The three Photon Arts that are confirmed with Sword types are:

- Japanese name: ダイナモスビン
- English name: ’’Hurricane Slasher’’ (?)
- PP Cost: 21
- Attack Value: 80%
- Accuracy: 80%
- Description: The user swings the sword multiple times horizontal while jumping up, creating a combo which looks like a hurricane of slashes. Afterwards, the user lands on the floor a little further to the front where the attack was started.

- Japanese name: ンニツクレイド
- English name: ’’Somersault Slash’’ (?)
- PP Cost: 23
- Attack Value: 120%
- Accuracy: 75%
- Description: The user jumps up, slashing the blade multiple times while performing multiple somersaults to the front, and finishes with a final vertical swing of the blade. After this final swing the blade’s end is partly struck into the ground, and the user slowly returns to it’s feet as it pulls the blade out of the floor.

- Japanese name: オーバーエンド
- English name: ’’Heaven Cleaver (?)
- PP Cost: 45
- Attack Value: 250%
- Accuracy: 255%
- Description: The user points the sword in front of itself and the blade emits a truly gigantic energy blade which is emitted from the left, the right, and the front of the blade itself. The blade is then swung to the back of the user, and with a vertical swing both the energy blade and the original blade are smashed into the ground. After wards the blade returns to its original form and is returned to its original position behind the user.

Dagger types.

Dagger type weapons aren’t really what the name implies. They generally are short bladed indeed, but they always come in pairs of two. Many shapes can be found, and some don’t even feature blades! Nevertheless, if it comes in a pair and each is held in a separate hand, you can safely say you got yourself a dagger type. Dagger type weapons can perform a multiple attacking combo; the first attack makes both ’’daggers’’ slash at the target, the second attack only makes the left handed ’’dagger’’ hit, and the final attack makes both ’’daggers’’ slash at the target while spinning. During this combo the user can freely switch between ’’Normal Attacks’’ and ’’Strong Attacks’’.

Generally Dagger type weapons can only be equipped Hunter classes, but some weapons are exclusive to certain classes, or can be equipped by all classes.

Every Dagger type weapon has the option to have one out of three Photon Arts, or doesn’t have any Photon Art at all. Each Dagger type weapon also has the option to have various effects and/or elements inherited in addition to any Photon Art.

The three Photon Arts that are confirmed with Dagger types are:

Enemy Encounters:

NOTE!!!
Before you read this part, I must point out that I'm not 100% sure about the monsters being rare that appear without the special music. I am 100% sure that they are FAR less likely to appear than ''common'' monsters though, so I listed them as well under their own part.

Just ran into Al Rappies (the blue Rappy) in the Maka(?) Ruins. I forget the name of the area, I'm in it right now >.<
I got 2 Rappy Wings and a unit that says something about PA, PP and 10%, I'm guessing it cuts Weapons PA PP cost by 10%.

Also a little later in the same ruins I found a 3* rare Rod, the name translates to "Witch's Broom" and it looks like... well do I really need to tell you? :P I gave it to my FOmarl and it makes her look quite adorable.

i'm gona take my weapon/armor list out of my topic and ceep it to this.

btw "elemental" materials can be bort with pd's, found in any gold field box on any dificalty aswell as being a reward. just to clarify.

There are elemental mats for every element in theory, allthough i only have 3 diferent kinds in game so far.

item is generally classed as "rare" if its osld for 10meseta in shop. (this is my opinion, since red box items that are under 6 stars are sold for that much)

also ild prob upload info on the agito i found later x3

Well, the character "ma" (マ) looks kinda similar to "su" (ス). That said, you've got "so" (ソ) and "n" (ン) mixed up. <_<

But yeah, it's mind material. (マインドマテリアル)

Thank you all for your comments and/or wonderful contributions! I will update at any time possible, but seeing at how it's christmas now and I have to spend time with my family (I really have no option, I must spend time with my family) it'll have to wait a little longer. :) For now I've updated it with any data I have available, including your contributions! ANy ''big update'' will have to wait for a while though...

However, when I do update it, I'll be adding these things (or at least in the (near) future):

- Pictures of the item in case (probably only weapons)
- The Japanese names (as soon as I have a pc which allows me to write those signs)
- The required level to equip some items
- When possible, a more detailed description on how to obtain the item.

I'm aiming for this to be a great resource for looking up rare items, and thanks to you all I think I can safely say it's on its way getting there! Thank you all!

Thanks for the information! About the ''10 meseta sell = rare'' formula I have certain doubts, as some of my ''red box items'' (with various stars) actually sell for way more than 10 meseta, but I suppose it varies with the item(s)? I might add it with the ''big update'' in the ''rare classification'' section though! :)

You could always classify rares by "redbox rare" and "$10 rare" and maybe "gold box non-rare" for the nice things that drop from gold boxes but aren't rare.

(I wish they kept the useless/gag items at 6 stars minimum. I sold a few things I shouldn't have.)

On the subject of those big armadillo creatures, I got an enemy material from the pale blue ones. I thought it was what you were talking about but if the one you guys are talking about turns into a Sword then it must be different because the one I got turned into a Shield. It looks like the monsters head (complete with pale blue colour)

I'll try and get the name later.

Thank you all for you wonderful contributions and comments!

Just to let you know, I u[pdated the whole database with new (fun) facts, items, and maybe even better... I added a whole lot of new information for each item!

These are the things I added:

- The levels required to equip the item
- The class(es) that can use the item
- The maximum ''grinder'' for each item (for as far as I could)
- in some cases a more accurate description of the item as a whole and where to find it
- quite some new items!

so please check it out, and help me out on this! I'm sure the more info we got, the better it is for others to use. :D

Things I still need to do:

- Update with pictures (will do all the items I have in my possession in like, two weeks or so, as that's when I get my camera back)
- The Japanese names (I'll look at a friend's place to see if it's possible for his pc to type the Japanese signs)
- Update the item database when possible (always doing this asap)

During the time I wasn't able to get on the pc I actually found some of the new items you guys contibuted as well, which was actually quite funny for me...! It also allowed me to double check certain things, which is always nice to have when you're sharing with others! ;)

Once again, thanks for all the help, and keep 'em coming!

According to the description the only thing it's good for is selling (which makes sense, since obviously it's not for grinding, adding elements or anything else). I guess they figured it'd be weird if the breakable walls just contained cash instead. Same goes for the big fragment by the way.

Edit: To clarify, things like Ice/Slow are elements and are not part of the actual item names (like having Charge Vulcans and the like in PSO). I noticed there's still some confusion on grinding as well, but allmost weapons/armors can be ground (1~3* using Monogrinders, 4~5* using Digrinders, rares using Trigrinders), and (according to some) the max grind depends on the level requirement.

Just checked through my assortment of weapons to dig out the special ones. Here's what I've found so far. I'm pretty sure these are special weapons, only because they look different from the regular assortment and the shops will only buy them for 10 Meseta - like anything else that's good.

Again, if I'm wrong about these, sorry. :p I just picked up the game a couple days ago and I'm still struggling with Japanese.

Found a rifle just now, i can´t really write in Japanese here but...

It´s 6 stars, requires lv 46 for use and only 2 Cast classes seem to be able to use it.
Kinda hard to see when they change the little letters around for the classes shortcut.

Anyway..It´s called something with M95 at the end.
It´s a BIG rifle that is all black, and shoot black bullets.
I dub it Blackbull as well it´s like that rifle in PSU.

Found it at the Eternal Tower in Hard mode, got it from the first boss variation there.

And bullet art is 3 animations of 3 shot burts ending with the laying position.

Updated once again, I wonder how much more rares are there to be discovered? :)

I confirmed the mag upgrade Fundin posted earlier to transform your mag into two wings (angel wings?).

I also discovered something else... After claiming your reward from the ''bank'', the game auto-saves. So for fun I tested a few things and I checked for any rewards, and now I wasted some items and quite some gameplay time for absolutely nothing...! x'D SO please take heed to those words people (at least when ''funking'' around that is)!

Some news about three weapons:

Found the "Blue Katana" in Ozette Wetland dropped by the Kraken boss in Very Hard mode.
Found the アンザユレート / anzayureto (the red partisan/spear) dropped the two-part mecha boss in Very Hard mode.
Finally, I'd like to correct a mistake of mine, the テイフクテインゴルド (teifukuteingorudo) is actually a クテインゴルド (kuteingorudo), teifu is an element: use a percentage of your life to make damage to your opponent. The two-part boss dropped it too in Very Hard mode.

Sorry for the mistake ^^"

Just like to point this out, there's a difference between something like シューット (shuutto) and シユーツト (shiyuutsuto). <_<

"ブルスマツシユ (burusumatsushiyu (?))" should be ブルスマッシュ (buru sumasshu), which can be translated as Bull Smash.

Yeah I'm sorry I obviously don't speak japanese. I just quicly learned katakana in order to make a difference between all my stuff in my inventory. Feel free to correct everything that needs to because it's probably not the only mistake I made in the names :)

Edit for some new stuff:

Love Rappy Katakana
ラブ ラッピ

Literally how it appears in the game, and as far as I can tell thats Rabu Rapi (Love is the closest I could get out of Rabu, I'm not too good with japanese, but I'm pretty sure 'ブ' in some instances is pronounced as if it was a 'V', it'd be great if some one could PM me to help my understanding.)

包丁

First of all, happy new year everybody!!! :D

Secondly, once again updated with more items, I also added quite a few new enemy parts, bu unfortunately my game auto-saved, which makes me unable to re-check the complete enemy part details... (see my previous post -_-) So any details you can provide me with would be welcome! :D

Later on (days-wise, count at around January 6th) I'll also ''clean up'' the list a little, which I think it can use..! :)

Once more, thanks for all the help! The list couldn't be as great and helpful as it is now without your help!

Just forged a pink five-star shield from a two-star enemy part I found in the Eternal Tower. Minimum level to equip is 20. It has no photon art. It's also found in the Ozette Wetland in Hard mode, solo offline play.

[edit]

I just ran into a new type of special monster in the Ozette Wetland. They're the giant birds, but fat as all hell. They also dropped a set of six-star armor that cannot be equipped by hunters.

Also picked up a new enemy part, I believe it was five stars. It's dropped by the squid boss in Ozette in Hard mode and forges into a five-star rocket launcher that looks like the squid's head. Forging cost is 10000 meseta, and I can test for its photon art as soon as I build a ranger.

Found (rewarded?) a new mag cell in my box. It's called Heart of Akazu, and when it's fed to a mag that's level 70 or above they turn into what looks like a large jet hovering over your back. I'll try to upload some pics and more info soon. You can see it in the mag thread, too.

Note that this saturday I'll be making a ''big update'', and the whole list will undergo some big changes, so just keep in mind the list will have a new ''layout'' around sunday/monday. :)

But still keep the contributions coming people! :D

It's kinda strange how some of the weapons look exactly like weapons from PSO, yet have different names here. Like the Twinkle Star in O and the Bright Moon in Ø.

It's also even stranger how some other weapons have similar names to O weapons... like the Tinkle Star, which is a saber.

Thank you guys for the wonderful contributions! I've added them right away!

Also, my apologies for not having the update finished on the promised time, but due to my computer being half working I got some issues to work with, but it's coming asap!

On a side note, I'd be really grateful if anyone could post the code for posting with the ''spoiler'' tag, or at elast PM it to me. I'll be needing that for the update, so please post/PM it if you know it! ;)

Now, for sme news for you guys, for updating the list, I will only require armour, units, mag cells (?), and enemy parts to update the list! (as you can guess by reading this, I have no need for weapon contributions anymore) Yes, you read it well, and no, I can't give exact details a sof why right now... Just be patient and read for yourself when the time is there! ;)

Well, sorry guys for the delay, and even though it's FAR from finished, I've uploaded the ''new list'' for as far as I got it.

There's still a LOT to do, but I'm getting help from some persons, so I hope that will speed things up a bit. :) I also like to point out that Lyrise is helping me with translations, so no worries about those, but until they are done you will have to do with my own ''made up'' names! xD

Anyways, I'd love to hear your comments on the new ''layout'' of the database, so don't be afraid to share your opinion!

Also, on request of Lyrise I here re-open the part to contribute any item fitting the desciprion for this database, since we're still experiencing some trouble with certain details on some items. (jn short, yes, you can contribute weapons again. :))

Found another thing to edit. For "リスクロシエリミツト (risukurotsuerimishito)", I was able to find many ロシエリミツト off of the ape monster (the one with the star on its back and sometimes uses a gun) on both Hard and Super Hard modes. It seemed to drop a lot more on Super Hard mode though.

ロシェリミット (Rosherimitto) (Holy crap, the writing in the first post is off. <_< You've got confusion of "shi" and "tsu" in the romanization and the "e" after "shi" should be the scaled-down version. Same with "tsu".) is called Roche Limit. I was checking out what it would be earlier, then this popped up, and I was like holy crap because the wiki page for Roche limit is interesting and completely makes sense that it would be in this game.

Also, for practically any 6 and possibly 7 star weapon, you can find them with elements on them so things like "risk" shouldn't be part of the name.

So, like a TON of stuff is wrong in the first post...? I had no idea, since I took everything directly off the ''item catalogue'' at the bank account counter, but I don't know japanese at all, and I was sure I actually wrote everything out right...? Well, excuse me for any errors, but please also point out what exactly is wrong? when you say ''shi'' or ''tsu'' I still have no idea what they exactly are? xD

Also, please clarify if it's also in the parts of the ''spoiler boxes'', or only in the later part... I also got my fingers crossed a little Lyrise might be capable to see through my mistakes when she helps me out with updating the list...!

My apologies for not having 100% accurate information then, but I do my best at all times!

Dont worry, you haven't actually wrote anything incorrectly yourself, Shiroyu is talking about mistakes with converting the Japanese Katakana into English, which you didnt do yourself. The Katakana you copied from the item catalogue is correct, however other people in this topic were converting the Katakana (in the case of the 'Roche Limit' weapon in question, someone called Fundin) and you just added it to the description, obviously not knowing its been translated incorrectly. Keep up your good work. :)

Hey Aqualic-EX, just letting you know I've updated my FAQ (can be found at http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/game/953869.html).

I'm pretty sure I have every weapon and armor listed, but I'm not certain. It's basically just a translation of the pszero Japanese wiki to be honest. :P So yeah, you can add the info there to your database if you want, though obviously not all of the credit goes to me.

Ah, thank you for clarifying the ''mistakes'', I'm relieved all the japanese signs are good! ^^ Took me about 2 hours to fully copy and paste each sign individually for this database... but as long as its helpful it's worth it! :D

Also, more good news!

First of all, Lyrise finished filling out my ''gaps'' in the posted ''update'' so far for as far as she could, so I'll upload that asap (due to time issues 'm afraid it'll have to wait till tomorrow).

And secondly, I'll actually be adding pictures this weekend! (don't beat me if it isn't friday night or saturday, but on sunday, but I'll try to post them asap!) I hope this greatly improves the quality of this database, since people can actually ''see'' what we're talking about :)

Also, @ TehWavy: Thanks for letting me know, I might ''grab'' a few armours from there! ;) I already have a complete list of weapons (any type) on my own, but I still need some information regarding the details of some (stars, drops/location, etc), but I'm certain it'll be helpful! Thank you! :D

Also 2, @ _Vyser_: If you don't mind I might approach you on that offer later, but thanks in advance for offering the service! ;) Just be sure to check your PMs in a day or two or so! :)

Np, I enjoy translating things. :D Also, would you like me to continue adding what monsters drop what? If no one needs the picky details, I wont keep track anymore. The Eternal Tower is pretty good for figuring out what drops what, since sometimes there's only one monster in the room. Stupid Radame is going to be having me run that mission for awhile...Anywho, good luck with the future updates.

The gaps I've corrected are just for melee weapons. Working on Shot and Casting later; these weapon names are really annoying to translate, I mean, I could take the easy way out and just flat out translate them as is, but as it turns out, a LOT of these items reference legends from around the world.

That said, I am trying to translate the names referencing as many of their correct sources as humanly possible, hence the half of the delays (The other half was me wasting time looking for Dioscuri, which I am happy to report, I have found as of yesterday night).

But honestly, you'd never be able to realize that Claiohm Solais is actually in the game, without realizing that the romanization of the name is the actual pronunciation and not the spelling of the name and that was severely tripping me up. (Look it up, how do you actually pronounce Claiohm Solais; you'd be VERY surprised.)

Now one question. We are talking just about rare monsters and drops? Or are we including rare areas like the Arena, Cake Shop, etc. My guess is that the rare areas can pop up anywhere, or is it more specific to locations? Oddly enough, I've only seen any of these rare areas online but not offline so I can't confirm if these show up offline, as well.
